I remember one time when I was playing Haven and I had this rather large army for the time period in the game, anyway I ran up to a group of emerald dragons, kind of half thinking about it (I have Squires, I can kill anything)...and I walked away with very few losses, apparently my Hero's defense just was too much for the drags. So I continue running up and find a group of titans...well if I was able to kill dragons then of course I can take down Titans...a couple of lightning bolts later I was Hero searching in the tavern.

Who uses the lightning bolt ability on the titans anyways?

@blizzard: even more humiliating is if you guys decided to replay those games from autosave just for fun & found that you might even win both in different circumstances/atb [I'm sure you knew that anyway]

one of my most poorly played games was on a single scenario called "Diplomat" here you play godric and need to get a "pendant of mastery" from the dragon utopia.

basically a straightforward scenario, the key obstacle being a horde of seraphs blocking the path to the utopia.

so i was playing and realizing i was taking a really long time to get everything done. i didn't want to win and get a goblin rating (that is one UGLY little runt ) so i rushed in and absolutely crushed the seraphs with my tiny army using a dark/stormwind build. then i quickly closed in on the dragon utopia and...was utterly annihilated. let's just say it wasn't a typical utopia RIP

moral of the story: assumption is the mother of all %^&#-ups!

Yeah when I played online I used to attack with a secondary hero first, doesn't hurt knowing what you are up against.

This is the Craig Ehlo thread!

hehe, I didn't realise I had a contribution to this thread...

How humiliating
I came into it wanting to try a few things in my 2nd haven duel game but the sheer power of the bears overwhelmed me in 2 hits & I was marked sith-scared running thru the fire...
At the time, I just shook my head sadly & was glad it was a quick game which satisfied opponent's request.  I even hated laszlo.  Looking back now, I think it really marked a turning point for me - I threw caution to the wind, can't lose as badly again & am no longer hesitant in any matchup (also helped by many hotseat attempts to turn the tables)

[The game was played months ago & some may have already downloaded it before thru the random duels thread on temporary speedyshare.
Thankfully my honourable opponent saved it & it is now immortalised.]

Any of the losses I have had in the ToH Duel Arenas.  Purely on the fact that my opponit could have beaten me in their sleep, while ballancing on a ball (on one leg).  Oh and juggling and ballancing three plates on a stick that is on their nose.

Trust me, each enemy had over 200+ units left after soundly thrashing me.  It was painful.  Of course they are some of the best..Veco, Jinxer, Elvin, Fiur.  So I don't feel bad for loosing, just bad for being such a pathetic challenge for them

It's easy for the enemy to win with 200+ units left if you focused on his higher tiers and he wins with level 1 and 2 units. In the duel map I think it's possible for a barbarian to get close to or at 500 goblins (with defend us all). Necro can also get good skelly numbers.

is it really useful?
I guess the point of having lots of goblins is to increase the chances of a trap to trigger.
btw, do some people play with kilghan? as a main hero I mean.

What? I believe in your map the Stronghold hero can have warriors in excess of a hundred (I could be wrong here). If you take them before sphynx, that is *2 goblins (200+, maybe) out of the rather accessible Defend us all perk (not to mention Shak'Karuket is practically set up to get it).

In that context, if I get Def on my barbarian, it seems that vitality, defend us all and protection OR stand your ground (taken in this order for safety - resistance only gives the +2 def) is the way to go.

Of course, in a normal H5 game, when and if you get defend us all is more of a dilemma since you may not have a lot of warriors with you at all times.

Of course, I may be overreacting, and I should reserve posts in this thread for when I get "one of those days".

hi, if anyone is looking to get a humiliating defeat from the AI or just sharpen your inferno creeping, try the map "Judgement" on heroic as inferno vs dungeon(esp yrwanna) or sylvan(esp gilraen) or necro or etc... (from maps4heroes.com)

dangerous creeps and vicious garrisons coupled with a strong enemy hero make this really challenging. i did eventually win with inferno though, but the method was brutal and for now remains a secret.

i still can't believe it! i had defeated my enemy's two main heroes(although i lost my main hero in the process) and had a mediocre secondary hero left, and then the enemy uses grok, who just apparently flies in from out of the sea and captures my capitol, hires my level 6's and 7's and kills off my secondary with my own units all in the same turn. his timing couldn't have been better because it was day 7 too! my next closest hero was like 3 turns away gg i ended up pounding the wall for the next few hours!

the most annoying thing is that i was very aware of this strategy: demon lords can get both navigation and snatch fairly easily. this shows how important logistics is: a quick unexpected move to swipe your capitol is like a knife thrust to the heart and ends the game quickly
