Secondaries
How do you use your secondaries???
From some posts I have read recently, I yhink that my usage of secondaries is none O_O
I use them as scouts and mules only and my main hero does all the work because of precious experience...
How many secondaries do you use?
What the number of them depends on?
Are they really worth it?

It depends on the map. On *cough* lame maps such as hourglass the importance of a good secondary is very obvious.

i use them to gather resouces from windmills and just random resources on the map. i also explore with them and have them guard castle when main one isnt there. and when i take over a castle i try to find a hero with the same race as the castle.

It's a challenging epic map overfilled with artifacts and locations. Some hate it, others love it. Personally I have begun to like it but it's a map that takes practice so you'll have to play it a few times to know what to do.
About secondaries puh-lease. You know what your main is capable of right? Do with them what he won't do, what else?

...use of secondary heroes can be greatly improved, because of mentoring. I think 86wyp wrote somwhere about hero bombs. So IMHO it's crucial tactic to use multiple heroes for "damage dealing" (not only resource gathering and castle sitting)...
...oh! and this i'm talking about warlocks (i'm playin' usually with them only)

Yup, mentoring is an absolute must if you want to have a lot of secondaries. Having a level 26 hero that spews out level 21 heroes each turn is quite sweet.

without mentoring though barbarians have it the easiest because they just visit a couple of shrines and instant lvl5, thats what i do when i get kilghan, i send him on a shrine hunt to get estates, what more do you want from a secondary than recruitment+estates?

Could you write the link to the map?
Are there any other factions to beat or the objective is to find the Tear of Asha O_O?

Mentoring is great for defensive heroes, give them Leadership for Recruitment (extra creatures), Destructive Magic with Master of Ice and Cold Death (so the hero can take down the enemy catapult with one spell).
For Rangers it gets even better with Battle Commander (you can get reinforcement that way with every hero you train).

Depends really on the size of the maps. On a big map I have sometimes 3 or 4 running around, but only the smaller maps I generally use 2. I usually use the extra heroes for some battling, but mainly scouting and protecting.

At the very beginning of the game if you are lucky enough to get an elemental dwelling or a refugee camp you may consider clearing a few mines with a secondary while the main is clearing other mines or getting spells.
If the map is rich enough, recruiting heroes in the tavern and dismissing them is an expensive way to get some extra tier 1 and 2 creatures (and eventually some tier 3). It's worthwhile with specialists like Ossir or Ingvar or Vayshan since they get more creatures than the others.
