"What is that...thing?", murmurs Kemdil as the creature lunges forward, narrowly missing a swipe aimed at Kemdil's left arm.

The Ranger steps back, fearing that being injured by the unknown creature could have greater consequences than just the wound itself. The creature lunges forward again as Kemdil sidesteps and shoots the creature in the back. Rather than slow down, the creature speeds up, as if bolstered by the pain. It makes to swipe again as Kemdil climbs swiftly up a tree. As the creature claws into the tree, Kemdil yells:

"Your defilement of Nature stops here!"

Kemdil casts an Ice Bolt on the strange creature, slicing its right arm off, just below the elbow. It is knocked back, but it appears to still be alive. The Ranger looks visibly shaken up by the hunger of its foe.

OOC: Ok...back to you enamelity.

Kaļ's troops were in position. The dark elves took cover further in the ruins, like snipers. Kaļ drew his trusted greatsword. He looked at it and felt a bit of remorse... No time for that now, he figured. "FOR THE INQUISITION!" He shouted. His troops repeated loudly after him and they charged. They took the battlements of the camp with relative ease, since the slow and lumbering undead had no sense for tactics and flexibility, destroying many skeletons by storm. He then came to a place where there where many holes in the ground... Kaļ ordered his soldiers to go slowly or they would get injured. By the time we got to the actual encampment, a defence was organised. Which means that there were about 60 zombies ready and that the surviving 30 skellies grabbed their mace or bow. There were some vampires and a lich too. We charged the ranks and, at the same time, Del and his paladins stormed the enemy. The vampires joined the battle and fought much like the dark elves, but they were too few to force us to negotiate. The lich escaped, saying something like: "cover the retreat, my warriors, your deaths will be avenged..."

Kaļ was happy to see that the sylvan was still alive. He took of his bonds and helped him to some rest, before he would start questioning. Del was sent back to the outskirts of the ruins to keep his vigil.

OOC: anyone is allowed to take the lich character, it should not be difficult to gather some troops, since there are many dead Tchaida in the ruins.

Kai:

As the your warriors secure the area around what was once the camp of Maarn's warriors, a vortex of black magic appears, expanding quickly, decimating all in its path. Your warriors run away from it as quickly as possible, but it continues to expand. In the distance, you hear what seems to be the mad cackling of a lich, but it might just be a trick of the wind.

Kemdil:

As the creature recovers from the loss of an arm with unnatural quickness, it looks back at you with a new sense of purpose, as if it is now driven by some other force to oppose you. Its muscles bulge as if by magic, and it easily knocks over your tree. Your agility allows you to easily jump from the falling tree and land safely.

As Kemdil incorporates himself once again into the battle, the strange creature lunges forward. Kemdil launches another Ice Bolt. To his surprise, the creature smashes the Bolt out of the way effortlessly, suffering only light injuries to his remaining arm.

"This is not good at all", murmured the elf.

He was growing tired as the battle progressed. On the other hand, the strange human-like creature was stronger and quicker than ever, a fact that baffled and frustrated Kemdil greatly.

He was unable to block what was coming. The creature, tired of clawing, decided to go for a full scale body slam. The ranger was slammed to the ground, a rock piercing through one of his shoulders. The creature moved in for the kill. Kemdil decided on a last ditch effort. Focusing his natural powers as best he could, he conjured up a Water Elemental to block the attack.

Unlike most Wizards of the Silver Cities (OOC: No, Kemdil isn't a Wizard, just comparing his Summoning ability to one. ), he can't break his focus on the Elemental. If he does, the Elemental disappears. This has the effect of limiting the amount of Water Elementals he can summon to one at a time.

The Water Elemental materialized just in time to take the slash from the creature's claw. It then proceeds to retaliate, knocking back the beast several feet. As the creature attempts to get up, a well placed Elemental Ice Bolt pierces its chest in the area where the heart usually is in other human-like organisms. It lets out a hideous cry as it dies...or so it would seem.

Kemdil loses focus of his Water Elemental, which disappears, as he proceeds to get up, slowly. He is bleeding badly from his left shoulder, and proceeds to apply a tourniquet to the wound as a temporary solution.

He moves on towards the fortress with a renewed sense of urgency, hoping the creature is dead for good, and also hoping that his body won't give out before he arrives.

OOC: I'm here making up lots of Water and Ice related abilities. If any of them are a bit too...powerful, just let me know. As you may have noticed, I try to balance them out.

Kemdil:

As you leave the area of your battle with the creature, you hear sounds of movement behind you - graceful and agile, like an elf's tread. You turn to face it, and see a black-robed dark elf inspecting the body of the creature you killed. The elf notices you, and rises to greet you. "You have passed our test... you destroyed the puppet," he says. "We have one more task for you: destroy it once again." The elf casts a spell of black magic, and the destroyed monster rises to its feet, surrounded by an aura of darkness. Ropes of magic extend from the elf's hands to the creature's shoulders, and the elf disappears into the bushes, his hands still upraised. The monster begins charging you.

Kaļ didn't panick. Fear is the slayer, fear is not allowed to enter a paladin's mind. He drew his greatsword, slammed it into the ground and chanted a light magic spell he once learned from his time as a priest. He was concentrated to the fullest and, miraculously, the spell slowed down. It didn't stop, though, the magic was to powerful. Only a mad lich or necromancer could boast this. One of his sergeants reacted quickly and chased down Del. His troops ran and got scattered. If he was attacked now, he feared that death would ensue him and his men.

Del didn't need the message to understand something was wrong. He quickly scoured the ruins with his men, hoping to find the magical creature, responsible for this.

As your men realize you have halted the black vortex, their fears disappear. They search for the last remaining undead monstrosity for some time before it appears from nowhere before your eyes - right in front of you. It cackles madly and reaches forward to strangle you. You realize that if you attempt to block or dodge it, you will lose the concentration necessary for maintaining your priestly spell.

Kaļ grasped his sword. He figured that if he'd die, the spell would be released as well. So he put all his strength in an upward slash. Demonstrating an incredible amount of strength, he cleaved the monster in half, ending the spell. He took his forces in closer inspection. He lost about two dozen of his men, counting the casualties of the Ex/implosion. He was saddened by this loss, but at least they took something from the undead. The sylvan was still resting, so he couldn't question him, right away. He ordered Del and his men to stay close and the dark elf captain to investigate the ruins further for any traps or surprise armies.

OOC: Hello! A new guy joins the RP ^.^

IC:

When he was young Naxxarus had been a master in the art of summoning and had been respected in the silver cities for his great talent. But as time passed, Naxxarus wanted to learn all kinds magic and therefore he started praticing other magics as necromancery and demonology, of course he learned these magics in secret. Unfortunaly the day came when the wizards discovered Naxxarus studies and research and decided to punish him, since he wasen't willing to just give away his knowledge Naxxarus had put up a great fight against the wizards, summoning many ancient evil creatures that the wizards despised, some of the creatures was undead too. Naxxarus got the title "Necromancer" right before Maarn laid a great siege on the silver cities, forcing the wizards to focus their power at defending the city. Unfortunaly for them Naxxarus didn't like getting called a necromancer and that he got expelled, so he decided that he would help Maarn win the battle from the inside and truly become a necromancer. After the battle, that Maarn wouldn't have won if it wasen't for Naxxarus, Maarn grated Naxxarus, who had been killed by the wizards, the gift of ethernal life as a Maarns most trusted lich of all, Naxxarus accepted Maarn' kindness and used his gift as an undead to continue his studies in magic, and learning all kinds of magic.

Naxxarus was in a bad mood, a very bad mood. He had just met a lich who had runned away from battle leaving his undead minions behind. This lich was none other then Kirandar, the old wizard master of Naxxarus, who now had been forced to serve Naxxarus all ethernity as a undead lich slave. Naxxarus said:

"This "Kaļ" that you speak of dosen't sound like a dangerous threat to me, I'm more disapointed that you actually let this human take the base and destroy 1/10 of our undead forces here! You know just as well as me how important it is that master Maarn get that artifact! If he got to know that you abandoned your undead minons and the digging base because some human showed up, he would have punish you in a way that's much more worse then mine!"

Kirandar shivered in fear and looked like he was about to puke:

"I-it couldn't be helped Naxxarus, there were hundreds, no thousands of human paladins and other soldiers there! Plus I think I saw some of those dark elves traitors with them."

Naxxarus wasen't the least surprised, he had known about the dark elves getting new allies from his undead wyvern scouts. But he didn't like the fact that Kirandar lied to him.

"Come" Naxxarus said, and one of the vampire punishers came fourth "you know what kind of punishment is fit for him." The vampire gave a signal to Kirandar and he started tagging along "Don't worry my old "friend", I'm going to correct your mistake and get back the base and kill the human, but first I need to know how many they are and what state they are in." Kirandar and the vampire walked away and Naxxarus gave a signal for eleven wyverns and one vampire riding one of them to land "Fly to the human base, and find out as much information as you can, you yourself with your wyvern is to return with the report, but send the other wyverns to attack the humans." The vampire nodded and said a short "yes master!" before he took of with the other wyverns.

Naxxarus could now only see the small dots in the horisont from the wyverns. He smiled and said "What a lovely day for some blood." before he laughed and ordered "Forward! To the human base!" His army of undeads starting to move and he couldn't resist to laugh, he wondered how the human would like his army, which was made out of all kinds of undeads, from the smallest goblin to the biggest titan.

OOC: So that's my intro, hope it wasen't to long. So my character is a lich with an army of all kinds of undeads and study all kinds of magic, but his speciality is summons.

OoC: B-E-T-A, good intro. Great character choice, as well. This should make the plot a lot more exciting.

Kai:

The dark elf captain discovers nothing of interest in his search. As he finishes telling you this, a guard emerges from the sylvan's tent. "Sir! Sir! The Sylvan has awakened, but not exactly the way we expected. Come to his tent, and I will explain more," says the guard. As you walk to the tent, the guard explains: "He awoke screaming in pain - he's still screaming now, as far as I know."

You walk into the tent. The sylvan screams some more, then collapses onto the ground. Before he loses consciousness, he whispers: "Back of neck."

Naxxarus:

You and your undead legion march to war. The magical device you attached to the back of the sylvan elf's neck - the one that makes the elf suffer extreme pain whenever it tries to inform others of your army - is still functioning, as far as you know. Nothing too important occurs as your legion marches to Kai and his paladins and dark elves.

OOC: Welcome to the RPG B-E-T-A!

IC: The ranger groans as the creature returns to its feet and resumes the attack.

Kemdil quickly notices that the creature has become much faster than before, a fact he finds out the hard way as he gets slashed mercilessly across the chest. The claws feel like steel daggers to the fatigued ranger.

The robed dark elf looks at Kemdil with a look of disdain.

Kemdil remarks out loud:

"Darn it! What will it take to finish this thing?"

Kemdil then proceeds to cast an Ice Bolt on the creature, aiming it right at its leg. The perceptive ranger picks up on something:

As the Ice Bolt lands, the dark elf mage cringes, as if also affected by the attack.

Kemdil then thinks out loud:

"Of course! Why didn't I think of that earlier?"

The dark elf pales slightly as he realizes that he has been found out. He relinquishes control of the creature, which promptly falls back down to the ground and says:

"Well well, you are a lot better than I originally imagined. So, now that you have passed my tests, how about a little...business proposition?"

Kemdil was about 2 seconds away from feeding the robed elf an Ice Bolt for all the pain he had just put him through, but decided to play along for a bit:

"Well, besides the fact that you nearly got me killed...I guess I can listen for a bit...I won't be going anywhere anytime soon."

Kemdil looks at his many wounds as the dark elf takes out a potion and tosses it over to the ranger:

"Drink that", commanded the dark elf.

Kemdil gave the dark elf a "why would I drink this?" look as the answer came:

"Drink! If I wanted to kill you, you'd be dead already."

Kemdil realized that the robed elf was probably a Warlock and could easily carry out on his threat, so he drank.

He felt nothing for a few seconds, and then suddenly he felt a strange warmth throughout his body as his wounds closed.

The dark elf nodded and spoke:

"I am Siladroth, a Warlock."

Kemdil smiled to himself as he confirmed his suspicions. Siladroth continued:

"I needed to test you to determine whether you're up to what I'm about to propose."

Kemdil answered simply:

"I'm listening."

Siladroth replied:

"Well, even though you're not from this world, I'm sure you've heard about Maarn. Nowadays, who hasn't? Well, we were allied to him..."

Kemdil interrupted bitterly:

"I want to have nothing to do you with you then!"

As Kemdil attempted to turn around, he felt a powerful tug preventing him from moving. He looks back to see a grinning Siladroth, who then says:

"I'd appreciate it if you'd let me finish."

Kemdil crosses his arms, completely powerless to do anything else but listen. The Warlock continued once again:

"We need your help..."

Kemdil raised an eyebrow.

"...you see, Maarn controls vast armies of undead legions bent under his rule to do his every bidding. Ever since we broke away from Maarn's army, he's been hunting us down. In part, it's for revenge, but it's also to reinstate us into his legions...as the living dead."

Kemdil wasn't particularly fond of Warlocks, a distaste he had built up ever since his days in Axeoth. However, he couldn't help but cringe and feel compassion for Siladroth upon hearing those last words. The ranger said:

"To have your people hunted down like animals and then forced to live in eternal servitude...I am deeply sorry."

Siladroth frowned at Kemdil's show of compassion and retorted:

"Stow your sympathy! I need it not! I do, however, need your help."

Kemdil stared Siladroth down and considered his options. Then, he slowly said:

"Well, we have a common foe. While I don't agree with your...methods, this is hardly the time for such a petty feud. How can I help?"

Siladroth smiled, for the first time in the conversation. Kemdil surprised himself smiling back. After all, a dark elf smiling was an extremely rare occurrence. The Warlock replied:

"To the northwest, there is a fortress that is now being occupied by a human paladin and some of my comrades..."

Kemdil interrupted:

"He wouldn't be called Kai by any chance, would he?"

The Warlock nodded as he continued:

"Well, I am heading that way myself to offer them my aid. Rumor has it that Maarn is having his most trusted subordinates rally undead legions to crush beacons of resistance. As you can imagine, Kai's forces, along with my comrades, constitute quite the beacon of resistance."

Kemdil nodded to show that he understood as the Warlock said, with a tone of finality:

"Well, let's be off, shall we?"

Kemdil started walking as the Warlock called him back:

"Silly ranger. Do you forget who you're traveling with right now?"

The Warlock weaves a strange magic. Suddenly, Kemdil feels like his body is being pulled apart. For a few agonizing seconds, there is silence. Afterwards...

OOC: @enamelity: It's a Teleport spell for the both of them, but I want you to write up what happens next.
After all, I'm not sure what plans you have for that fortress right now.

OOC: Thanks everyone! Now, I don't know what the plot is and all, so I don't know what to say about Maarn...hmmm

IC: Naxxarus sat in his undead elephant and looked over his army, then he heard Kirandars voice besides him:

"I can't take this anymore, this punishment!"

A spectre came floating up to Naxxarus, handed him a bottle and said:

"His mana will soon run empty, he had almost nothing left, seems like he used all to create some kind of Vortex."

The punishment that Naxxarus used to give Kirandar was to lower the maximum amout of mana he could have, this was really painfull for wizards, and Naxxarus have known many wizards who died or became mad when they could no longer feel the source of magic. Naxxarus looked down at his old master and said:

"If you just accept the fact that your a lich and look at your immortal life as a gift, then I promise you that all of your magical powers will be returned to you. And stop trying to make me punish you by taking away your undead immortality, I know that it is that you hope for, therefore I will never do that to you."

Kirandar looked up on Naxxarus from his horse. He looked at Naxxarus for a while, then he said:

"You know that Maarn will in the end be defeated, and then you will lose your so called "gift" and die a painful death, that is most suting for you. No one like Maarn will live forever, and the fact that there exist resistance just proves that he doesn't have ful control over Ashan. Just like the Dark Messiah, he will, in the end, be defeated. And then you will be sorry you ever sided with him."

Naxxarus looked down at Kirandar then he laughed as he heard what the crazy old fool had said:

"Is that what you really think? Don't be silly old man, even thou I know that Maarn isen't invinceble, he is the closest you get to that. Even the dark messiah wouldn't have been able to match Maarn! You know that everyone thinks that if they get as far as meeting Maarn in duel, we would be such an crippled old man who have done nothing but study magic that anyone could defeat him, but that opinion is wrong. Maarn isen't just a man who study magic, he is a weapon master as well, and can easily use anything at all, even his bare hands, as the most dangerous assasination weapon. I know that there exist resistance in this world, yes even I have had my own private traitours thoughs, but having been witness to Maarns incredible power, over and over again, I wouldn't even dare to challenge Maarn. Besides, the resistance is weak, for who should resist him? The Demons are locked in hell with a seal that Maarn even made stronger, the angels abbandoned their human allies and flew up to their holy god in the skys when Maarn came marching against the Holy Unicorn Empire and without them, the humans got easily defeated. Mostly of them became undeads, but those left alived got either captured by undeads or spread all over the land, making a great resistance from them nearly impossible. But I must say I'm impressed that this "Kaļ" managed to gather such a large group of humans to resist Maarn, unfortunally for them, we are gonna crush very soon."

Naxxarus took a deep breath before continuing:

"The Dark Elves surendered themselves and joined Maarn in his great quest to take over Ashan and their Faceless allies hided themselves even deeper in the mountains of Ashan. Even thou they in the end betrayed us, they don't stand a chance against the undead legions, not even their warlock masters can save them. Speaking of which, it seems that one of the warlocks, Siladroth if I'm not mistaken, is at the base as well, seems he brought with him one of those elves from Axenoth as well. Hmmm... this should be interesting."

Naxxarus though about it for awhile before he remembered what he was talking abotu and continued:

"Then we got the sylvan elves, I can still remember the joy I felt when I watched their belowed forest burn, they were so easily defeated, even thou there is a few sylvans left alive and kicking, they are to few to make a real threat for Maarn. The orcs however, fought to last man, refusing to surender or flee, some of the orcs even comitted suecide so they would "escape" slavery, unfortunaly they mistaked us for wizards, aint that right, Killgorok?"

Naxxarus looked down at one of the undead orcs marching beside his elephant the orc made a short "Hmpf!" like sound and Naxxarus laughed:

"They are really stupid wouldn't you agree Kirandar? HAHA! To believe they escape us that easily, makes me crack myself. Anyway, there was the dwarfs of course. They were a rather though race, I can't remeber how many dwarven generations passed while we sieged their cities, I wouldn't blame them for surendering in the end. I mean, how would you feel when you live your life trapped by walls, while an endless battle started by your father, or grandfather was going on outside the walls. it makes one wonder "Why do I have to die for my father or grandfathers stupid war?". I really had sympathy for the dwarfs back then. But now they live a life in peace, serving Maarn, the dwarfs really are the greatest servants Maarn have, yes except for the undeads. The story at the silver cities you know yourself, it was the first and shortest battle of them all."

Naxxarus though he heard Kirandars voice say:

"You traitorus punk!"

Something that made him laugh even more:

"You know, before I joined Maarn, I never knew what great of a kingdom the undeads are, I mean, there is no murder, almost no crime, and you can battle without fearing for death. It's paradise when you think about it, why no one else have seen it is beyond my understanding!"

Naxxarus looked up in the sky and saw that his Wyvern riding vampire scout was returning, the ten other wyverns must have engaged combat with the humans.

"The base is on the otherside of that mountain at the foot of it"

Naxxarus heard Kirandar say.

"Hmmm...that means we could attack them from the mountainside and create a good advantage for ourselves."

Naxxarus said and gave a signal for his vampire general to come closer:

"We will use that mountain as base, when we reach it prepere the troops, we will attack them as quick as possible, also, when that vampire returns..."

Naxxarus pointed at his scout.

"...send his report to me."

The vampire general said a short "very well sir, it will be as you wish" before leaving, the mountain wasen't so high from this side, but after what Kirandar had told him it's almost double as high from the other side. It wouldn't be long before the army reaches the top of the mountain, and then it wouldn't be long before Kaļ, Siladroth, and their forces was nothing but corpses, HIS corpses.

"Ahh, this is truly a lovely day!"

OOC: I hope you remember my undead wyverns that I sent to attack DagothGares and his troops. I sent eleven wyverns, and one of them was riden by a vampire, that one was to return with the report while the other were to attack Kaļ. Ohh, and I hope my character and army isen't TO imba

OOC: this takes place about an half hour before the wyverns find us. (I mean, I'm severely outnumbered and Kaļ is only a supportive caster at best, so give me a chance.)

Del rode into the camp. He was sent to me, while we tried to figure out what the hell was going on. Del wasn't a very subtle man. He saw the screaming elf and he gave his own solution. He pulled out the sack filled with brandy he carries around the most of the time. He made the elf chug it down entirely. The elf was immediately a bit more silent, but he kept groaning and twitching. The elf got back up. "For heaven's sake", Del muttered and gave him a direct hit in the face, silencing him for a few hours. Kaļ looked a bit surprised. "Well, that was... effective..." he said. "No time for that, sir." Del said hastily. Robert detected a large force that outnumbers us 5 to 1, possibly even more. We can't stay here! Sir, I would be glad to create a diversion for the sake of..." "NO!!! I will not have my men sacrifice themselves to those ghouls." Kaļ yelled, "We can easily make our escape. Cover up those holes! And gather the lumber which has been used to set up the camp. We can't do this alone. Ask the Vayrath (the dark elf captain) to help pack the necessary supplies and gather some more lumber, alight?" Del nodded and hurried.

Kaļ walked out the tent. He raised his greatsword and shouted: "FOR THE INQUISITION!!!" His warriors got very busy and started collecting wood. The sergeants set the piles of wood up at the narrow paths in the ruins. Vayrath came out of the shadows. He had the nasty habit of cloaking himself. He said: "We can't leave! We're still waiting for someone! Please, paladin, do not force to make a decision between you and the men." Kaļ looked at him. "I'm sorry, but my men can't wait. It is impossible to hide here for such a force as ours. I understand it, if u wanna leave, but it is possible that he meets up later with us. For now, we have to go."

The dark elf nodded. He walked back to his men. Kaļ was a bit uncertain about his new-found allies, now. "My lord, what are waiting for?" a sergt asked. "We wait to make the enemy wait." he replied.

OOC: enamelity, you can send the wyverns up, now. (I actually suggest that u take the position of Maarn and join the rp, but nvm.) Don't let them kill a lot of men, since I deviced a plan... You all probably know what I'm gonna do, don't you?

OoC: I'm back. DagothGares, Kai is about to become a very important
main character, so wait just a little longer as a supporting character.

IC:

Kemdil:

You feel your body disappearing and your sight fading as you teleport. Your disembodied consciousness flies after the warlock, who is just in front of you. Just as exileration and excitement overcome your fear, you feel something blocking your path. You stop moving, and the spell ends before you reach your destination. As you return to the real world, you find that neither you nor the warlock have physical bodies - they are still teleporting.

You see a necromancer-lich-mage, clothed in rags, cackling madly before you. He is the one who stopped the warlock's spell. You know that you will not be able to attack him, and neither will the warlock, since you are only a mind, akin to a ghost.

Naxxarus:

You and your shambling horde of rotting corpses begins the march to the mountains. Soon afterwards, the vampire wyvern-rider returns and gives you his report. (It is near the bottom of this post, I put it there for DagothGares to see as well).

Just a day later, you find that Kirandar and his most powerful undead are gone. You guess Kirandar went to join Kai and Vayrath. Though you will still probably be able to defeat your enemies, Kirandar had some really useful and powerful warriors with him.

Kai:

Your men finish collecting wood and packing up the camp. Vayrath sends a magical moth-like creature made of light to inform the one dark elf left behind of the current situation. Just as you begin to leave the camp, 11 ferocious dragon-like wyverns - one ridden by a dark vampire lord - swoop down from the skies and cause complete chaos among your men (what happens next is written below, for both you and B-E-T-A to see)

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Kai (firsthand eyewitness view) and Naxxarus (report from vampire):

Though Kai's brave knights attempt to fight and defend themselves against the wyverns, they are no match for the massive aerial dragon-like monstrosities. The wyverns lift the men and their horses, then throw or drop them to the ground. Kai, Del, and other higher-ranking warriors survive unscathed, but most of the knights are dead or heavily injured. They moan in pain on the ground amidst the ruins and bodies of their comrades. The vampire lord cackles madly, casting a spell that raises all the bodies as undead horrors, which look toward the survivors - dying and uninjured - hungrily.

All of the wyverns and the vampire return to their master Naxxarus.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Maarn, dark and decayed in his diseased, abominable glory, clothed in a mockery of royal, regal clothes, reclines on his cobweb-cloaked throne of grandeur. Behind his eyeless sockets, a miniature maelstrom of black magic roils and churns through his dark skull. He focuses his nearly omniscient mind on the inevitable battle that will throw the region around the Artifact into chaos. His commander, Naxxarus, will fight a triumvirate of rebel leaders - a mysterious dark elf, a rebellious undead leader, and a fiathful human paladin. They will be joined by unexpected allies, and numerous other factions will complicate matters further.

Maarn cannot see exactly what the future holds in store for them. Usually he can, but the power of the Artifact overpowers even his god-like magic.

Kemdil looks at Siladroth and asks:

"What's going on?"

Before the dark elf Warlock can say anything, the lich-mage answers:

"When you Teleport, your mind and soul go first, and then your body. You can't do anything to me while you're bodyless!"

He takes a moment to gloat as he says, with finality:

"Naxxarus will be so pleased! Time to die!"

The Necromancer starts charging up a Lightning Bolt, when suddenly an arrow flies into the lich's neck. Being undead as he is, the attack does little to actually damage him. The ranger and his warlock companion turn to see the shooter...a Master Hunter, who is promptly slain by a Death Cloud shot from the mage's staff.

"Fool!" spits out the lich mage as the Master Hunter drops dead.

He weaves a vile magic and revives the Sylvan elf as one of his undead soldiers.

"Join my army, elf!" roars the lich as the Master Hunter returns from the dead to serve him.

As the lich turns around back to the warlock and the ranger, he realizes that their bodies have returned to them. He manages to Teleport himself away from the area before Siladroth can regain his bearings.

"Son of a...", yelled out Siladroth as both he and Kemdil dropped down to the ground. The undead Hunter made to shoot the pair of adventurers, an act stopped by an Eldritch Arrow shot out from the warlock's left hand.

"That was too close for comfort, especially for one such as I." commented the warlock.

As Kemdil regains his bearings, Siladroth tells him, pointing to the distance:

"Look over there!"

A pack of undead...Kemdil could've sworn they were Wyverns...were flying out of a ruined fortress, a Vampire Lord riding atop one of them.

Siladroth spits out a curse word as he says:

"No time to waste! It seems that the undead are already here."

Siladroth casts Teleport again...muttering to himself as the spell was completed:

"I hope it doesn't get interrupted again..."

Kemdil and the warlock flew once again via Teleport. The rest of the magically aided trip was uneventful.

Several seconds () later...

The pair of unexpected allies arrive at the outskirts of the ruined fortress.

"Now what?" asked Kemdil.

"Let's go inside." came the answer from the dark elf.

They heard a yell of "Back off wretched beast!" coming from the inner portion of the fortress and quickened their pace, fearing the worst.

As they reached the area where Kai and his forces were attacked, they saw the scene:

A small group of human warriors to their left are rallied against a much larger group of undead soldiers with human uniforms to their right.

Siladroth shoots out a Lightning Bolt that blows through several of the undead soldiers, as Kemdil starts shooting arrows into the undead masses.

OOC: The battle has been joined! I'll let you guys react now.

OOC: DAMN YOU, enamelity Fine I'll make do with 30 percent of my army cut to shreds...

Kaļ was completely surprised by this, but still prepared. "FIRE" Kaļ yelled and the inquisitors started to put the fires alit with a fireball spell. The smoke quickly filled the air and destroyed most of the undead bodies lying around and the wyverns retreated, since the hot air could devastate their aerial capacities. Then, the signal to fall back was given. We finally left those cursed ruins, Kaļ thought. We had to continue our way to the Tchaida hq.

Kaļ feared that we would never win this god-forsaken war...

The undead horrors refused to perish. Even after several castings of Lightning Bolt and Ice Bolt, from the Warlock and the Ranger respectively, the living dead were still at about half strength (50% army remaining, in other words).

Siladroth and Kemdil were starting to tire out as the remaining horrors started advancing once again on the remaining humans inside the fortress.

"Go now! We'll hold them here!" yelled out Kemdil to one of the humans.

The human in question, an older man in Squire attire, nodded in agreement, as his shield met the forehead of one of his former comrades, crushing it partially.

The remaining human forces retreated to join Kai, but not without letting the pair of heroes know where they were heading. Siladroth nodded and said:

"Let my brethren dark elves know that Siladroth is nearby, and he has a Ranger, named Kemdil, to aid him."

After a momentary pause, he added, almost out of obligation:

"You might as well let Kai know as well."

As the humans left the building, the horrors shifted their efforts against the heroes. Siladroth spit out:

"We can't take them alone. Something...or someone, is bolstering them magically. I've never seen corpses take such punishment. It's not natural."

OOC: Back to you guys!

As the tides of battle gradually turn against the humans and their allies, an iridescent wave of magic sweeps outward. Kemdil recognizes it as sylvan, Axeothian magic. As the wave passes over the battle between the undead and the living, its magic seeks out one particular person, one person destined to be the recipient of all its power.

Kai is chosen. He is filled with magical, near-godlike, but temporary power. He has the power, now, to slay hordes of undead without so much as a scratch.

But he must choose what to do with this power - and quickly, for the power is temporary.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Maarn's thoughts are intently focused on the battle, and the sylvan magic radiating from the Artifact. He sees it choose Kai. He is enraged and furious. He had used his potent magic to make sure it chose Naxxarus, but somehow his spell had gone awry. None of his spells have ever gone awry in his entire undeath. He does not know why his magic went wrong this time.

OOC: Damn, I had a plan about how to let them escape and stuff, but now as Kirandar is gone and the human got his artifact I fear for my characters life.

IC: "I see" Naxxarus said after reading through the report "The human forces might as well be defeated before we even reach them." Naxxarus took a movement to think, his army had reached the mountain top when he felt it, so suddenly it was Naxxarus couldn't belive what he felt. He felt an enormous amount of magical energy from the human camp.

"IMPOSSIBLE!" Naxxarus shouted "HOW CAN IT BE THAT THE ARTIFACT IS ACTIVATED?!" Naxxarus started thinking "Kirandar didn't even find it on two weeks of search, yet these humans found it within a few hours, and that was while being attacked by my undead forces!" Naxxarus used a magic to get a telepatic conversation with all of his commanders "Order the march to stop, it's to dangerous to keep going, set up a camp here at the mountain top, lets wait and observe for awhile, I will contact Maarn and tell him why I won't continue to march against the human forces." Naxxarus heard one of his commanders think "But why are we stopping, from the report of the vampire scout, we outnumber the enemy atleast 10 to 1! So why stopp now?" Before Naxxarus could answer one of his liches answered for him "There is an enourmus amount of magical energy coming from the human camp, whatever happened there, some very powerful wizard or something just came there to aid them, they would destory our undead troops in matter of seconds if we attack them right now!" Naxxarus felt the "ohh snow!" from all of his none-magical commanders and then he heard the order to stopp from all of his officers and the army started to set up an camp for them to stop. Naxxarus wasen't happy at all, exespialy because he had to explain this for Maarn later.

Kaļ glanced at his greatsword. It glowed and slowly light poured of it, like some sort of smoke. Kaļ's eyes glowed bright and he felt a power come over him... A vibrant force filled the air... He was taken over by magic in it's purest form... an instinct greater then those of beasts or demons... He charged the scores of his raised brethren and Tchaida... He had a fury unmatched... It was like the light emanating from the sword was enough to slay the beasts... He came to the other side of the ruined fortress... He saw Narraxus's camp and felt like he could beat them single-handedly...

Out of nowhere, Del charged and knocked Kaļ unconscious. "We have to go... I'm sry my lord, but I do not want to be held accountable for your death."

Kaļ and his men, including the ranger, fled the ruined fortress. This had been a fight to remember. They took residence in a nearby village, where they found some new recruits, hoped to find out about the general's new power and could find directions to another Tchaida camp.

The local priest found out why the sylvan was in pain and could remove the device...

The sylvan woke up a few hours later...

OOC: back to you enamelity and, winterfate, feel free to talk with anyone xcept Kaļ, since he is utterly drained by the magic he used at the camp...
