Does anybody else think D&D (digitized or at the table) is funnest when you're around levels 5-15? When you get too powerful, the game becomes less fun. Like.. I simply couldn't enjoy the Throne of Bhaal expansion as much just because I felt so ridiculously powerful. The limits you have when you're weaker makes the game more exciting.

I simply like to see how my power grows. I really like Slaying those Sirenes at level 2. Experience rose swiftly

But yes, apart for Mages and Dragons, fights are laughably easy at High Levels. Spelltrigger of Protection vs Missile, Normal Weapons, Magical Weapons and Globe of Invulnerability. Throw in a Shadow Door, and you are invulnerable. (Luckily there are lots of counters, like Ruby Ray of Reversal, Secret Word, Pierce Magic, Breach Magic, etc)

Aaaw

I didn't import then. Knew I had forgotten something.

Well, it was the FIRST time I was able to finish Sarevok off though... didn't expect to defeat him so easily. (Hint: Kivan + Bracers of Archery + Arrows of Detonation)

For some reason when I bought Baldur's Gate, I got 2 Disc 5s and no Disc 4. I haven't met anyone who owns Disc 4 in years, so I haven't been able to install it on my computer.

Is there anywhere that you can download this game for free?

O jeez Sox, that really sucks. No BG2 for you Baldur's Gate 1 was Great though. Walzed through it with a Paladin Protagonist and only 4 NPC. All Reached the level-cap half-way through Chapter 6.

Reminds me that I should finish those NPC re-views soon...

Depends

Icewind Dale 1 is, in game mechanics, equal to BG 1, while ICW2 is completely different. Basically it's Baldur's Gate with Self-generated Parties in a Snowy enviroment and without interactions, reputation and NPCs that can join your party.

I love the first game of the series and it's addon (tales of the sword coast). Because of it's feeling... the world is perfect and the graphics give you the sensation of looking at an old scroll. I don't consider BG2 being better than the first game. I never really liked BG2, mainly because it has no "scroll" feeling. Heh...

Nah. You are too limited at that time, having nearly no spells as a mage for instance, and melee/ranged is always the same anyway, only the numbers change; instead of having 2 attacks of 14 damage and 30 hp, you have 4 attacks of 30 damage and 100 hp...

I prefer endgame combat

As for BG2, don't forget imoen romance mod, adds a lot of spice to the game

Are you serious?  "Waaaaah, Irenicus raped me..."  Destroys any preamble of a storyline.

Huh? Irenicus never raped her in the mod.

Besides, the romance begins in fact after underdark, which is pretty far from the preamble of the story, if you ask me.

Can't wait for the ToB part... 5 years in development, yay. But still not abandoned :E

Well it's only highlighted in one optional dialogue, perhaps you missed it.  Anyway, bad mod IMO.

It's not; she was raped by one of Irenicus' duergars.

And why exactly it's bad?

Don't get me wrong, incest is all well and good...  But if it was meant to be in Baldur's Gate then Bioware would've put it there.  If there's any rape in the mod it's that of the story's credibility

What do you mean it's far from the preamble?  Preamble =/= prelude.
