emilsn.... Naruto is one of the worst mangas out there.... I have no ******** idea how it has become so popular oO if I may suggest something you should try One Piece or Bleach or Fairy Tale or Fullmetal Alchemist (look for Bixies shonen manga thread it's awesome).

No I really enjoy it - I find it funny and very well made, though the anime series is a bit ... boring from time to time (Because the episodes are too long for what actully happens) but It is still good, but part 1 is less good then part 2 (known as shippude in the Anime)

Anime =

Naruto as well, in my opinion.

Anyway, let's not turn this into an anime thread, okay? It's about books.

I have to read the book, Raw by Scott Monk, a few more times for the Final School Test. I have read it a few times already and it isn't that bad of a book.

I am reading "the servant of bones" by Anne Rice. It's very much like her other book "interview with a vampire", but the interviewed person is now a genii. I also finished shadowfall by james Clemens. It's meh, but I still want to read more.

I read Clive Cussler Kaan's treasure. OK book.

Now I'm reading my first mangas, the Angel Sanctuary. I've gotten to volume 4, chapter 2. I didn't think much of it at first but the third volume raised the quality around three times to that of the first one. Good one so far.

I'll be reading the last Harry Potter after these.

Nabokov's Lolita the third time.

God I love that book. It has the kind of humor I enjoy the most, and it breaks many taboos. And the ending is touching

Okay I finished Angel Sanctuary the day after I posted that and harry potter the day after that but I forgot to post here.

Clive cussler was the worst of these. An average time killer, nothing else. 2/5

Angel Sanctuary was my first contact to any serious manga. And what a first contact it was! 4000 pages gone in a blink of an eye! And I have re-read it two times already.
I didn't like the ending much, too simple, but otherwise a good story.
You can also see that the artist got bored at drawing Alexiel, she isn't nearly as well drawn in the final volumes as in the first ones. Overall the drawings are really beautiful, almost every one looks like a work of art. For someone who has seen only western comics and a few dragonballs it was quite the culture shock.
I don't know if it's the fascination of finding something new or what but I'd give Angel Sanctuary 5/5

Then for the last Harry Potter. Maybe I'm getting old or the Angel Sanctuary was just too fresh in my mind but I didn't get much out of it. Sure it was a good book but nothing exceptional. Maybe one of the worst Harry Potters. 3/5 seems to cruel since it's after all a finishing book in the series so I'll give it 4/5.

So after this i've come to the conclusion that I should find more manga for me to read. Suggestions anyone?

I am reading Clive Cussler's book "Black wind" atleast that's it's name in swedish.

But other books to suggest is Emily rodda's books The belt of deltora. It is a series of books that I find quite enjoyable. It is about 13 books in the series but each one is only one houndred pages so it doesn't take that long to read. I recommend them to everyone who likes Fantasy books.

I thought Chapterhouse was incredibly boring the first time I read it, but, after re-reading it, I think that it's all right, but not the best in the series. Then again, I thought that God-Emperor was terrible the first time I read it, but now I think that it's the best in the series.

First reading:
Dune>Messiah>Children>Heretics>God-Emperor>Chapterhouse

Re-reading:
God-Emperor>Dune>Children>Heretics>Chapterhouse>Messiah

As for the ones not written by Frank Herbert, they were okay, but not in comparison with the originals.

The withcer was awesome. In LT it was released in 6 tomes(first and second parts were released in one tome) it took me a while to gather all the books... Well the worst books i've read was 'khai of the ancient khem' and diology 'blue moon rising'. The first one is just pure hardcore porn with fantasy elements. In second one everything sucks esspecially all charackters

I've read The Outsiders, Rumble Fish, The Big Sleep, Heart of Darkness, and The Poisonwood Bible, and I can't decide which of those if the worst book ever. The first two glorify a lifestyle of violence and lack of ambition. The third is extremely boring and completely pointless. Heart of Darkness has the right idea (Africa sucks) but presents it very poorly and is unreadable. The Poisonwood Bible is against modernity and supports "traditional culture". Blah. Terrible books. I would not ever advise anyone to read them.

You know what, I feel like lending these books from the library (one takes place in Belgian Congo from what I can gather) to see whether I share your opinion, mvass. One of them is elected for Oprah's book club, so that takes away a lt of respect points for the fact it's close to what belgium once was
