If you get -8 stars you are automatically banned from posting. I am assuming that the members who have the 'banned' prefix as their status were banned via the admin cp banning options.
I just found that thread too and damn, it is pretty long. But very funny

Well I assume that he got penalised for posts even after at 8 QP's. Perhaps the Moderators at the time didn't notice he was already on 8 QP's.

I don't think it is possible. I have read a few times that people get automatically banned when they reach -8 QP's. Or it might be -12 QP's, pretty sure it is -8.

Well, I thought that the people with more than -8 Hit points, were banned once, but were given second chances, which they broke again (there's something about that in the CoC, if I remember well, in the topic about permanent bans - too lame to search for it)
