reloading

Like many (if not all) of you I also have taken my chances in fights just to see me losing my whole army. Thankfully I was always given a second chance in these cases and also I let about anyone who wants to reload after a battle. But you know what, I have noticed that after such a reload I feel kind of guilty, dont play my best and lose the game most of the time. Maybe this is true for my oppnents as well, because I have won most of the games where I have allowed them to reload. So, when someone asks me for a reload I am pretty happy to give it to them

I always offer a reload when my opponent says this.

But if they take it I think very badly of them and will never play them again.

In fact I may just concede the game as it sickens me to play with someone who wants to bend the rules.

I've lost my main 1000 times.

I hire/dismiss and try to get him back. But if I can't I concede.

I'd feel like an idiot for accepting mercy in a competition and any victory I'd attain would be completely tainted.

Also destro you would be cheating your clanmates if you did that. So it is good that you did not.

taking your lumps and doing what u can

Hi All,

I was playing a game last night on HG3, (Clan game so I was necro) I have taken out the cows blocking my utopia with my 20 vamp lords, (mid week 3) and wanted to get some trash troops for the dragons to eat and take utopia (I have thant, but no scholar to teach my main animate) I am in a hurry and decide I can go for it anyway tho (I have water book and had decided I could summon some water elementals for the dragons to chew on) so I jump in (3 black) well everyone finds my vamps tasty and doesnt bother with the waters, with no animate, I had to flee when I got down to 1 vamp lord. I was so pissed at myself (for bein stupid) I rehired my main, ran back towards utopia, passed all my arts to my secondary main, and ran back in to finish off the utopia with bone dragons and black knights. well I got my topia but lost 3 black knights and my 5 bone dragons in the second attack. (lol i could have also passed my 900+ skells, but I was stupid)

Theses are the times when you almost want to concede a game, but I knew there were 10 black knights guarding my university that would join for 12K, and I was hopin for a few more joiners in the resourse area underground.  well I went and got the 10 knights and ran to see who else might want greater glory.  luckily another 10 black knights did for another 12K, also 6 bones and 5 firebirds joined the cause.  I didnt have any vamps, but I did now have a respectable crew, my opponent was just making his way down to my castle so I met him  and battle ensued he had good joiners also (9 archangles and a big stack of naga queens) after getting imploded, him resurecting and summoning earths, I figured he had earth book, I got lucky whittling him down to one stack of 92 earths, I blinded em animated as many of my skellies as i could (black orb, and I finally built a scolar) I cloned the big stack of skells and took him out

On HourGlass maps a come back like that is possible.

But on most other maps if you lose that kinda army, the game is over.  On some of the maps 1 Dragon makes the difference.

Anyways, in alot of cases I will offer a reload if they need it.  And I wouldnt offer it if I didnt mean it.  So I wont be like Mocara and offer just to whine if they accept  LMAO.

I always offer the reload especially if something happens in the first week.  The longer the game goes the less likely I am to offer.

In a Division match with Zud on Invader I took on a big battle, on day 3 of game and I got an overwhelmingly high amount of bad morales in the battle which killed off my entire army.  Just plain bad luck.  Zud offered the reload, and after checking to make sure he was certain.  I accepted because we both wanted a fun hard fought game. The game went into week 5 and was a very fun game.  I ended up winning the game.  And Zud was a great sport.  Sure he could have taken the easy gimmie win from my bad luck day 3, but he chose to try and earn the win, and have a fun enjoyable game.

I would not have thought any less of him if he would have taken the easy win.  But I was impressed that he was not there just to get an easy win he was there for the entire package.  There needs to be more people like zud that wants to play have fun and have hard fought games.  not just see who can rush and get the quickest easiest cheapest win possible.

Well, for me is the other way around. I dont like playing for hours and not having some fun at the end. Last night I played a nice italian guy and it so happened that I took his main castle when his main was away. He wanted to concede, but I told him, comeon, after so much time lets battle. I waited for a couple of days for him and we had a nice open final battle. I think this end was more enjoyable for both of us.

I can agree with that, SOS.

I like to have atlest one fight before I conceed. Even if it just to watch his army slaughter mine in one round. Atlest this way I know how slaughtered I actually got. Not thinking I got slaughtered, but in fact I still had a good chance.

Plus it annoys the heck out of me when someone conceeds when I think they still have a good chance, if they play it out.

I think the offering a reload when you dont want to give one out, is kind of sad. I guess you are just testing your opponent's character. Personally when I offer a reload, I want my opponent to take it.

I generally dont tell my opponent when I screw up or have some rotten luck. I like to keep my opponent guessing, so I dont get offered many reloads.

However I dont think I could submit a win if my opponent gave me a reload, and I won because of his generousity.

Reload

Well I asked for a load 2-3 times but not because I lost the battle or because I didn't calculate well enough the power of my creature opponent. It is because I had QUICK COMBAT ON. Yeah, sometimes, when I fight with secondary heroes I put quick combat especially if they have troops that I don't care bout them. Prolly u gonna say it's not a good tactic but when u r restricted by time like me (phone modem ) you've got to move fast .

Might as well throw in my two cents worth.

If I lose my main, I surrender the game.  If my opponent offers to reload, I'll accept, but only for fun.  Bad decision making is part of the game.

Once I made the bad decision, I lost.  But it is often fun to play on in a "what if..." condition.

I think in many instances.. in a regular toh, fun, or other game reloads are fine.

I think the best way to discern if a reload should be given is if:

The reason for the reload is because.. Opponent has taken a major chance that would "sway" the flow of the game terribly into his advantage.. ie: Topia, taking relic, box, ect.. These I think are risks a player makes to get himself "one up" on the other player. and therefore no reload should be given.

If a simple mistake is made sure.. I mean I have asked to load auto due to forgetting to build, moving main into that stack of dragons with his speedy unit only on, and when my mouse breaks down (once a week) and I use the touchpad mouse on laptop.. mistakes are FREQUENT ie: Running into throngs of level 5's week1 cause of double click.

The other major thing I think... is if a reload is given because that stack of titans was far more than expected.. the opponent cannot juice up his army to an acceptable level on the day of the reload.  And reattack that same stack.

One other thing I have found regarding BAD luck in combat, goodluck in combat. Would be interested to see if others find this too.

If I enter battle with army.. get good morale on first 2 moves, then bad morale, than som good luck.  there first move goes for that creature ect..

If I reload the game.. the exact same thing happens if I attack with the same army. Change in army = change in battle.  Of course reffering to map battles here ...

Further worse

Quote:
Bad end to a good game is when you are about to win, maybe in 2 or 3 days, and your opponent says "can we save plz?"

There is worse: He does not even ask for a save. He drops, and does not come back. And he does not reply to your e-mails about finishing that game. And U keep the renamed auto by hoping to see him by any chance.

What goes around comes around!!

In an earlier post I told ya about a game that Zud let me reload on DAY 3 of game, cause I lost all my army to bad morale in a battle.  Then I ended up winning game.  Well I got my chance to return the favor. I caught his hero week 4 with only Vamp Lords.  I didnt feel right taking a win after 4 weeks of play like this.  So I offered the reload.  Wouldnt ya know it. I lost!  hehe.  Atleast now we are even. =)  B@st@rds prolly beat us in clan war now, but dems da breaks. Theres always nexttime.   But from now on no reloads past week 1. Or atleast not for a clanwar match. hehe..
