yes, that's right, you got it asheera; if your triple ballista kills enough goblins with the first shot, the stack will switch over to your side, but your ballista continues firing at them, unfortunately
so you get to ask the next question

Can that happen inbetween shots? Lets say: first ballista shot, goblins chage sides, second ballista shot, hits your own units...
?

Yes I think that's what Ebbafan meant.
Hmm let me think of some tricky one then. 
The enemy charges (with a melee attack) your last standing unit stack on the battlefield and the damage it does would annihilate it. However, you survive this turn. Explain the possible reasons why this could happen.

the attacker is a minutaur guard (the first upgrade) and your creature survives the first attack and retaliates, thus lowering the minotaurs number and increasing your own cause your creature is a vampire.
same as above but your creature is a unicorn that blinds the minotaur before it's second attack.
same as above but your creature have the vampire spell on it.

If the enemy charges (walks, runs) to the creature it could be blown up by a firetrap or pass a firewall or flame-breath liquid.

Apart from ghost, there's a rune which gives incorporeal ability.
Attacker was minotaur, but after first stike your centaur used manuver. Alternatively, attacker was killed by acid blood or fire shield.
Does Arcane Armor count?

Other abilities that prevent the minotaur guard's second attack are torpor and bash. The minotaur in the example could be replaced by a dwarf with rune of berserking btw.

Ok ok nice answers but:
1) Sorry for the 'charge' thing no dying on the way doesn't count let's say the units are adjacent.
2) There's no other unit like a Warmonger beside
3) Arcane Armor doesn't count and neither double attacks. The enemy would kill your stack with his first strike and that's how it is with all protective effects applied (Arcane Armor, Endurance, etc)
But yeah a good answer was preparation and kill the enemy unit, but let's say you don't kill the enemy stack in one shot even if you strike first.
Then how can it still be done (one more way) so that your stack can survive?
