Isles of Traders (2 on 2)

Just finished huge map-making project (together with famous russian mapmaker Ogo and Signe). Our aim was to create a map that would be suitable for 2 on 2 online gaming.

Here are results of our labours:
Isles of Traders

(this file includes english version of the map as well as an overview of the telereport system to make it easier to get a grip on map)

Big emphasis was on keeping sim-turns right till the end, so there are no meatings of players until day 25. After that its full-speed action, so it should be realistic to finish full game here in about 6 hrs.

Gameplay is intended as highly cooperative between allies (e.g., "megadwelling" on every island (all creatures of lvl 4-7) can be accessed only if your ally will get the key for you)

P.S.This is 0.9 version of the map, which means "almost ready". Almost, because I tested it in hotseat several times, yet there were no online tests yet. So anyone is more then welcome to give it a try and give some feedback or bug report afterwards

Seems playing with multiple opponents is pretty popular lately Cooperation though gives it a new dimension and no sim turns till week 4 is very promising So which players are allied? You could add it(if you already haven't) in the description of the map for those who want to play 1v1.

Thanks for your efforts, Zilo & Co. Unfortunately Sim turns are ended immediately after game starts, that means before players can even move.

We will investigate it, maybe we will find the problem.

Edit: Might be a problem with linked portals?

Bad news If anybody could find a cause for this, would be great... Will try to make some tests myown as well.

We think that teleporters which are blocked until day 25 might not recognize that they should be blocked. However, that's just a guess and no idea how to fix it. Maybe blocking them by some strong guards can help?

Yah, i'm thinking along same lines, because, if there are only two players and they start from opposite sides, sim turns are working...

well... i dont even have to open editor to know is quality stuf, afterall ogo is mebe most complete h5 mapmaker around (both design and gameplay, at high levels)

zilo not so bad either


oh and funnything.. 2 days ago i was making plans on paper for a playable 2on2 with good sims (dueblo allied had good intention but is a disaster- too long and too early sims).. so, i guess you guys beat me up to it

I thought any allied map instantly becomes turn based because the game treats an 'ally' as another 'player in range'?

That's what I remember from HoF on LAN.

Ogo spent 4 days and finally found the solution for simturn break on day 1. So now simturns should work ok (at least, I hope so... ).

and if still not work properly, im sure you can put your head to do appropriate arrangements, so that sims last at least 20 days..

Course, we are testing it as well and it is working properly. Simply - you never know, troubles have a habbit to appear from nowhere Besides, I hope that testing process in company of 3 other good dudes and couple of beers is not that unbearable

but the problem is it's too large and overloaded, i tried 5 times with different people form TOH to play it with 4 players, and the game was loading 10 minutes, and after it loaded there were enormous lags! can u fix that?

In our test game we didn't experience such problems. Only solution I can think of is that all players should lower their graphic settings to minimum before the game.

Main problem on big maps is they need more memory and good CPU. For winXP 2GB is enough for most maps 1vs1 and 4GB ram is perfect for all maps.
I have 4GB ram but think for 8GB to improve my turn speed play

Its cool to see maps for 2vs2.
