On topic: HotA 1.0 is on SoD so SoD is already extended right now. If i dont like the next patch then i wont download it.. Simple as that.

Your opinion was about WoG features and we all respect it, cause it's a matter of taste. But WoG is more than just ugly creatures and stack experience. I don't understand why you just can't install WoG, turn all the options off, and enjoy HotA with more objects, creatures, spells, abilities and towns. If you're so stubborn, I don't think HotA will suffer such a huge loss.

Yes WoG was a great *tool*. Not a great Heroes 3 *product* though. Refering strictly to 3.58 wog distribution (quality of buildings, creatures, some options).

If HotA keeps the same standard of quality when it switches to wog then we could finally get both in same package (powerfull wog/erm/era platform + professional level of created content from HotA team). That will be a great day if it happens, so I hope it does.

Now, can we please close the off topic, people on both sides are starting to be more aggressive than they should be in small heroes communities.

There is already a unit called sorceress in WoG, and there is also the neutral unit Enchanter. Calling the Sea Priestess upgrade Pythoness would be cool.

As for WoG, even if I don't wogify the map (or turning off the WoG features), I've experienced crashes numerous times. For example when I am fighting WoG neutral units (yes they appear even if you don't wogify the map) or when I am using a Heroes 3 skill modified by WoG (like diplomacy).

I have nothing against HOTA using the ERA script. But it would not be ok for me if I must have WoG installed to use the next versions of HOTA because of the bad experiences I had with it, especially when I was playing hotseat with a friend of mine. Also, then it wouldn't be a normal Heroes 3 addon but an addon for WoG, and AFAIK HOTA was meant to be a standalone addon.

There is confusion all the line. WoG is not add-on or a standalone game, is a manual for reading in SoD resources and modify them. So HoTA is not a add on for WoG (?) but will use this platform to be able to give you a bug free game. Which is impossible with SoD. Also saying that blood dragons are ugly is like saying "I don't read this book because its cover is ugly". The content is inside, not in graphics. Today we have tools to replace any creature in one click, so what is in original WoG is relative.

Until the official release in English, it's all yours. You can use any synonym or not a synonym, I just explained the meaning.

I'm feeling like we have some wog haters invasion there. To make it clear, there's no point in arguing about whether HotA should be based on SoD or WoG, because this isn't about all this "classical/not clissical", "NWC/not NWC" stuff. This is about technical requirements. You accept the rules or you don't play it, that's simple.

How lurkers call it is without importance. What is important is its potential, why do you think HoTA team chooses now, that the town is ready, to continue work on ERA? It is technical issue, not a pretext to drown you with various options.

Plus I think it gave people a lot of ideas about what could be possible with it. But I've always maintained that WoG (and especially ERM) was, above all, primarily a toolbox anyway. All the other stuff was the fun icing on the cake.

I never said the Blood Dragons were ugly - I just think their graphics and appearance lack fantasy. Lots of WoG creatures are like that. The Hell Baron for example has a good name but its graphics are just those of the Archdevil but slightly modified in terms of recoloring. To further examplify, the HotA units are all original and this adds a lot to the game. It's different from reading a book with an ugly cover which was an absurd metaphor. Graphics do matter a lot.

Despite this there are also creatures in WoG that have their own originality like the Werewolf and the Nightmare/Hell Steed.

I don't mind WoG until now. And as long as you can play HotA with WoG as a base without any of the questionable tweaks/features (a few, not all) given by WoG so it genuinely feels like playing SoD+HotA, then I really wouldn't mind.

And for the HotA team? No words can express our gratitude. Keep in mind that you have made video gaming history.

The REmade version which should work with the Heroes 3 Complete Version was released here :

Also they said this(HoMM3 HD 3.0 beta 6) is the version of the HDMod which should be used for HOTA

That version only made it worse. My game is 50% russian now plus the game crashes each time I open the tavern. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

I installed the earlier release of HotA on Heroes III Complete to begin with and haven't suffered any problems whatsoever. If it's true that this new version is inducing crashes then I'll remove the link and recommend everyone stick to the older one, for now.

The old one didn't crash at all. I tried reinstalling HotA_setup.exe but it still crashes each time I enter tavern. I guess I'll have to reinstall Heroes.

Well you are kind of right it didn't crash before, but I've tried creating a Random map in the editor ...and it crashes when I'm playing the map or at least I'm trying, I've never get passed the first day...
What I did is ... I've installed the Sod version and installed Hota for the Sod version, I've kept the complete version for creating random maps, copy the created random map in Sod and play it with Hota...so far it works...
I know it's not the best but this is the only way I've managed to make it work.
If you have any idea about I can make it work some other way...Please share it!

Heroes inside the Castel

I wonder if anyone else has this problem :
If I leave my hero inside the castle and then go back in to take it out it disappears. I can make him stay at the gate but not inside the castle.
