It's not a "simple" translation, believe me. It's not only about units or heroes' names - that was done a long time ago. There are also campaign texts, and these are quite like a book. Sometimes it took me several days to translate correctly one sentence.
I have translated first campaign description for Acid Cave in, I don't know, September or something. In April there was only the first mission's description.
Now I have all campaign texts translated precisely and officialy, but I have done it recently. And there is a second campaign waiting for translation, and I'm afraid I won't do it quickly. Not sure how long would the other translator work though.

I know a thing about how messy hex editing is to stay away from it. That's why simple was Quoted.
Just an info. There are ppl who could not care less about campaigns (like myself). They just want to play this new faction with new objects. So if that is already available, release it  and do the campaign afterwards.

And yet, there are people that are actualy interested about the campaign. And Hota has clarified from the begining that they may take a lot of time to complete things, but that we should be patient because they want their work to be 100% whole.

Could you calm down please ? no one here is angry at you, nor blaming you for not releasing a translation, I just asked if you could give us an update because I read that release date was around christmas, thing is, I do know that translation can be very long to do, so I entirely understand that you can't release it as of now, this is why I just asked "Could you give us informations on your progress ?" and not "it's 24th december and beyond, release, now, please, thank you." If I did that, I would totally understand you getting angry, but I didn't, so there is no need to go all fury at me for -asking.a.question- ...
And if this is whining, then we clearly don't have the same definition of it.

Campaigns are the important element of HotA. Despite of your personal opinion - with which e.g. I, personally, do not agree - there's no reason why should we care about them less than anything else.
It reminds me of all these posts before 1.0 release... "We want only graphics! We don't care about technical stuff, just give us f**kin' new town!"
How sad.

It wasn't an official release date. There are no official release dates, same with updates. So it's not like HotA Crew teases you for fun talking about new stuff just before silence - there will always be more or less silence before next version.

Totaly agree! The new campaigns are the essence of Hota... On the other hand there are also people that are more interested to see how the new town fares on multiplayer wich is also understood, but if you want to see this, why are these people that much interested in Hota and not in one of the many moded towns that are out there?

Sure ^^ but that doesn't change what I said, I wasn't like "I demand a release !!1!!11" all I asked was an update, there was no need to go all fury, I expected it to be a wished date for release, not an official one, so as much as I do understand that people harassing you for news are nerve wreaking sometimes, I don't think, imho, that the tone of the answer was justified, he could have just said "No not yet", and that was it ...
Edit: And I never said anywhere that I felt like HotA crew was teasing me/us just for fun ^^

Edit: and concerning the first part of your post, was it adressed to me as well ? because then you would have given me an opinion which is not mine, because I would always care more about something whole than just a faction (though I'm not saying that just creating a faction isn't hard and time consuming ^^)

Maps and campaigns are 2 different separate things, that work independently and can be released separately.
@Hobbit Your post gave me the impression that work needs to be done on campaigns mainly or that campaigns take some ~80% of translation time. So for the ones wanting to see cove in action for months it seems to me like a reasonable thought to release the part that is ready.
Seems some people consider having nothing is better than having a playable half... I do not understand why would anyone care if they release what they have for the rest of? (And campaigns later?) Just do not play it and wait for the whole package.

I personally do not have much problem waiting a bit more... we have been waiting for so long anyways! And I think that coming back to check for the Hota 1.6790707 version or sth like that and downloading it feature by feature is much more tiresome than waiting till the whole package arrives. This has also to do on how the makers see their project as a distinctive whole and not a series of minor changes to the original.

Well, I certainly wouldn't mind if they released an early version with no translated campaigns. Just so I could play it in hotseat with my cousins. Campaign can wait.
But it's their decision, I might disagree, but I won't whine if they decide to wait 'till they got it all.
With ROTR 1.8 out, my mod needs are satisfied for now.
