I started last november, and I carefully choose only the images that are of my taste, and with proper dimensions.
I slowly buidling it up, and I'm happy with it

I haven't been scourging for wallpapers in ages, I just lost my drive to do something like that.
Once in a blue moon I might visit elfwood for some amazing fantasy art but that's pretty much it.
Before I used to keep track of a similar thread like this one on another forum I frequent which got like 5 pages a day full of backgrounds so it was around 100 pictures a day, even after taking just the ones I liked it was 10 or so new ones per week.
Nowadays I'm just too lazy to do anything.

I have a whole copy at my Dropbox account + one at home PC + the copy at my laptop. With the Space Race Stuff, I have 17 GB for two years, I'm not worried about it 
Also, I'm 21, too soon to be THAT lazy hehe
