Poll Question:
the Most diffycult faction to play?

I know that you can play well with every factions after mastering it, but I want to see which faction you think its more diffycult to play and why. You should take everything into consider:

How much maps size and resourfulness affects chances of winning

Building your castle, building prizes and how fast you get core buildings

Creeping

Potential power at early(1-4weeks) mid(1-2months) and later(2months+)

Different stradegy possibilities

Countering other factions


After vote please explain why you voted that factions and maybe more experienced players can help you with advices.

I voted Academy - IMO Academy takes a lot of practice to play just on an average level, and with the new upgrades it's even harder, because new tactics has emerged... I just can't play academy very well...

Necropolice can be a bit tough too, but it is all about making the game last for a long time!

But I think the might factions are easiest because it is just hack and slash(Stronghold and haven)

For me, the hardest faction is the Fortress.

The creatures are just far too weak and far too slow. Not to mention they are ugly too.

Voted Dungeon.

I just can't, can't play with this faction. Of course I never use Destructive Magic as it's moronish

But what else is there? Summoning Magic? Dark Magic? Light Magic? Yrvanna? Sorgal? I tried them all and never succeeded on heric difficulty. Creeping is damm hard, rarely flawless and totally upleasant. I just give up.

It was a though choise between the two "Grumpy old men" factions... Academy and Fortress.

Academy's problems are: very expesive untis a buidings (especially the Ore and Gem costs are insane), unist with either a lack in Moral, Dammage or HPs, and the lack of might oriented heroes.

Problems of fortress: Expensive and weak units (Brawlers, anyone ?) which mostly are too slow at all, and the lack of really strong Heroes (Ingvar and Helmar are the only exceptions)

However, I like Academy more than Fortress, So I voted Fortress this time...

Yep for you.For me fortress is an easy faction.Building cost less then others faction(fort,citadel,castle only 3500 gold,capitol only 8000 gold,etc.).And they have magic guild and runes(resurection runne is so strong),they have big grow per week,and strong units.Their defend is to BIG.
No mention that the thaine hit,if many enemy are close,Storm thanes realease a kind of chain lighting.Magma dragons are good,etc.
In defending the city,the guard post sumon TO MANY DEFENDERS.
Heroes have big defence.
I think fortres are one of the best faction.This is my opinion.
For me...well...dungenon is the harder.All what i have to say is:
1.LOW DEFENCE.
2.LOW GROW PER WEEK.
3.EXPENSIVE UNITS.
The sacrifice for increase blood fury and minotaurs is a good thing,but steel need other faction to recruit from there units to sacrifice.

I tried only 4 factions in scenario (dungeon, academy, inferno and stronghold) it's not much to give my opinion, but I also tried them all in duel mode.
the one that I felt was harder to use was inferno, maybe the lack of shooters and flying units. it's also the only faction for which I haven't built a decent duel hero yet(oh no, I haven't built a decent barbarian either, but I'm currently playing them in scenario and it's too easy.

But what about gating?u forgot it?,well my opinion is that inferno is a very strong faction,in specialy in late game.Gating ability used near them,when u siege a castle,using gating to ope gate,using gating to outnoumber the enemy,and dont forogot about demonic skils.
But every1 have his own opinion,and he play diferent with those factions.

Hardest faction to play should reflect their ability to creep, because face it, when you have a 20+ level hero the nature of creeping changes drastically.

Dungeon?  Give me a break.  They have it easy once they get a few knowledge under their belts.  Stalkers when you need to cast spells, and Furies when you need to dance around the battlefield and save on mana.

Sylvan?  Arcane Archers pwns all.

Fortress?  Rough, rough start, even arguably rougher than Inferno's

Inferno?  Brutal.  If you don't have War Machines you're fighting mobs with your gates.  There is a sharp, specific path you need to follow for this town.  If you do not have War Machines, nearly all viable strategies go through the Attack Tree.

Haven?  Shooter tank combo, though it's complicated with the shooter having a lousy initiative.

Stronghold?  Centaurs makes the world easy easy.  I mean, stupid easy.  These guys might be getting nerfed in the 3.1 patch.

Necro?  1st week skelly archers and ghosts.  You decide.  You say with a straight face that that's a hard beginning.

Academy?  Let me get this straight.  A 12 initiative horde shooter 1st week along with the perfect cannon fodder in gargoyles along with Heroes whose spells will soon wreck the battlefield and people say these guys are hard?  These guys and Stronghold have it the easiest.

Hardest beginning?  I'd say probably Inferno and then Fortress.

Hardest overall?  Still Inferno and here's why.

Just like Dungeon, the Inferno hero offers little in the way of the Defense stat to boost their troops.  Therefore, it becomes really easy to pick off one troop here, a stack of troops there while you're taking on the map and even other players.  And unlike Dungeon, whose Hero can singularly take over a battle, the Infernalist has to rely on a combination of their troops and/or War Machines.  Triple Flaming Arrowed Ballista is the Nirvana of creeping for them.  But it takes a very long time and often is not guaranteed...too many perks in the attack tree dilutes it.

They have a huge surplus of mana but little spellpower.  So spells that help keep their troops intact, i.e. Regeneration and Vampirism, are going to have pathetic percentages.  They might have puppetmaster but considering the target's going to have an 85% reduced initiative, you might as well think of it as a combination confusion/blind spell.

Edit:  Here's another thing.  Their mage guild only supports one viable magic school for them.  Who here can say they have built an amazing Destro Inferno hero?  I tried.  I had a level 22 Grawl with an 8 spellpower, and 6 of it came from the Sar-Issus Robe.  That was just embarrassing.  I can't think of any other faction who's magic choices are limited.  Sylvan's spell power issue is addressed by the druids.  They can put together a terrific destro user?  Who else?

I do think they're incredibly powerful and present many challenges to other players.  But all in all, I think they require the most skill out of all the factions.

I used gating yes, and I had nymus, but it makes you lose a bit of time, which can be annoying sometimes.

Inferno is all about one thing, how good you place your creature, it's like a pure chess game, inferno is more of a units/creatures game than a hero game, the complete opposite of dungeon, dungeon is hero game.

The hardest faction for me is fortress, especially in heroic, without ingvar, it's so slow, even inferno without war machine is far more faster than fortress, i mean, inferno has much more better start than fortress.

I can't think of any fast start for fortress, using rune in heroic is madness.

It does not go like that Gootch. Earlygame is not everything in all maps and assuming you know how to creep with academy does not mean you know how to handle academy from midgame till lategame. Also with some wood/sulfur or some joiners inferno can do pretty well without a ballista either. Meaning cerberi creeping or starting with extra army such as in rat race. I could creep my area fast without warmachines, of course that may not be possible in other maps and I did not get any hunters to block me either.

Those early game exist only in made generate by u(tiny no underground)and there still are strong creeps,which wont let you to get to your oponent so fast.So early games are very rare,always is time for all faction to evolve.Faster game that i had was a small map without underground,i made lvl 10,the enemy same,and myluck was that near my base was a portal which lead to enemy camp.And when i was able to atack we both had big armies.

I agree with The_Gootch - Inferno is the most difficult to play. My few observations:
- their troops have huge damage range. It can be fixed by Divine Strength, but Inferno has very difficult access to Light Magic
- their town requires immense amount of sulphur. Even Resource Silo doesn“t produce enough. I find managing Inferno“s sulphur almost as difficult as managing Sylvan“s wood
- they have to play offensively, no defensive tactics work for them (or at least those I“ve tried)
- really miserable Spellpower that doesn“t let them go Destructive, yet Destructive is in their Magic Guild
- easily counterable (high damage range, always offensive, almost always might, very often Ballista...   just quite easy to predict)

uum... about inferno start isnt rough and because their IMO iniative and IMO attack they can finish battle very early.i have played twice in heroic with inferno and i havent never slow town levelling -.- .sulfur isnt problem,more likely problem is mercury and you should fav dark instead destr. you just dont know how to play with inferno sad,very sad.

Believe it or not, but I have, although it wasn't intentional I was playing a game with Deleb but instead of the usual attack and knowledge she almost exclusively gained spellpower... so I thought "what the heck, I'm just going to try it" and picked up Destructive when it was offered, and didn't regret it. She's now running around with 19 SP, still have to finish that game sometime.

Voted for Fortress.For me they are hard to play,esp in the beginning:the buildings are expansive(need a lot of resources,which are hard to find in some maps)+ creatures-could have been better.
