White in Chess is IMBA.  It always gets to go first.  It needs Nerfed.   (sorry couldn't resist).  Some other very fun games are Othello, GO, Checkers, and Battleship.

As for inferno, I can say one thing.  If you are not skilled in a town, don't go up against them.  I got beaten so bad, my grandchildren will feel it.

Yeah, White is offensive, Black is defensive, imo it's only a matter of personality.

If you like to plan an attack and plays very agressively, choose white, if you like countering, that means that you have reflective personality cause your action is based on the others (the white side), then choose black.

Btw, Elvin be mad after seeing all of this.

Heheh, hope you didn't take it serious.  I just had to say it because of all the imbalance talk.  Anyhow.  Inferno..one thing is certain, vs Deleb you had better know how to play a town.  Phoenix thrashed me so bad, it was not funny.

I got haven (random town/random hero) and he had inferno (random hero).  He was fortunate and got Deleb.  I got Klaus (who in the right hands IS pretty strong).  My skills actually turned out pretty good, no complaints there.  I just could not keep my paladins (actually the unupgraded ones) alive.  Had PLENTY of Crossbow men, but probably should have split stack them in the final battle.

Needless to say, Inferno ripped through me like I was tissue.

Inferno is quite good against haven They can block the paladins/champs easily, which reduces their damage potential a lot. The multiple stacks achieved through gating/summoning make it even easier to dominate the poor suckers. Haven needs dark magic in this MU, imho, which it can easily get anyway.

And when you are lousy at Haven (like me) they are even better vs Haven.  Don't think Phoenix lost a single Succubi, Devil, or Pit Spawn.

I agree, againts inferno, haven with dark magic has easier time than the usual light magic oriented haven.

dark magic or light magic, you'll probably have no mana if you don't kill familiars fast

Yeah, hehe.  I love some of Phoenix's comment during our match.  "Yeah but you can ressurect them right?" (He knew I had ressurection).  My reply was.  "Yep, with what mana though?" hehe.

Hmm, didn't want to start a new thread, so just chose this (funny titled) thread. My problem is that I liked the Inferno in HoF, it had several paths to take IMHO. I thought even going destructive was ok, with Luck and Hellfire and all those Area Attacks. But that is not the point, two things are at the top of my mind.

1) Why does it take 5 more levels for a Demonlord to get Flaming arrows + Triple Ballista? I find creeping with them seriously more difficult than other "warmachine factions" anyways, and Demon Lords ballista is not that much better than Orc ballista in the endgame. Any of you mp players, can you give a reason?

2) Hellfire. Why it sucks so badly now, was it overpowered? I liked Chain Shot + Luck + Hellfire combo, it could do massive damage. Now you have no change but to go Seducers as they are way better.

Perhaps to discourage Deleb abuse. There was a time where she had 100% chance of having both tent and ballista skills at level 4-5 or so. Players used to take the easier path those days. So the game was swarmed by Deleb abusers. Quickly grows old

I think it's just a flawed design. Pretty much as corrupted soil. There are skills that suck, there are those who don't. Nival failed at making all skills interesting. Not entirely, because there is still a lot of variety and most skills and perks have uses, but there are those who are obviously too weak and nobody knows why

That is not reason enough to take the most effective creeping method from Inferno.. With flaming+triple dart machine creeping gets very effective, and levels just keep pouring on you Maybe it is because Inferno has access to Dark, and it is equally (or more) effective? But then again, so does Haven AND they have easy access to killer ballista. Quite stupid if it would be against Deleb abuse, because she can get triple+flaming easiest of all Demonlords, 2 levels earlier.

So you kind of can skip the Ballista (and you should, because you need to creep effectively before level 15) and go for Dark. But rather weak if the only change for creeping is Dark... Is there an alternative?

Corrupted soil is quite redundant yes, but atleast it is a perfect counter to Phantom Forces. Hellfire doesn't even have that bonus effect. It's bonus effect is to deplete your mana. Hurray!

Imo, for creeping, dark is ten times better than triple ballista with flaming arrows. Though in final fight both has its role.

I rarely use both of them if i get dark first, however if ballista is offered earlier than dark, i will look on the map, if there are many dangerous caster (like archmage), i will take it, otherwise i will wait for dark.

If not in creeping, hellfire shine in long fight, and ofc you need more than average spellpower or get searing fire to compensate for it.

Generaly, hellfire shine in non custom map (especially non ToH map) with lv 3 town or lower, it shines both in final fight and in creeping, especially in creeping. In 2 town map or map with additional tier 3 dwelling or map with starting town level more than 3, avoid hellfire unless you aim for flaming arrow.

Just remember, when facing any faction with a strong balista that there is a simple cure for it.  Destroy the balista fast.  Sure it has 1100 hp, and will take up some of your time..but once down, it is out of the rest of the battle.  All those points, gone for nothing.

Well inferno is tough faction, i managed to win with deleb over my ubi.com opponent who was playing with lucretia(subterranean treasures), he had twice as big army as me, i had basic gating, but expert attack, not flaming ballista, triple ballista, in battle looked like necro owns but until i managed to kill his dangerous troops vampire and wights with my ballista, the situation was still for him he had about 500 zombies and 32 poltergeists left, nine army was 4 succubus mistress 4 summoned pit lords and 21 cerberi his zombies were too slow and my creatures managed to kill poltergeits and my ballista owned zombies, i had 3 cerberi left and nothing more.
