Edited by einomida at 13:51, 18 Oct 2009.

Since I obviously miisinterpreted the date I`ll try to put down mny faction during the last hours of Monday. And even if it`s over due, I`d like to get it down...

Here goes.

To make it interesting, I plan on doing a campaign too as Jiriki suggested, but this will most certainly not be here now. I try adding it later on or with another faction. Also, this post here leaves lots of details unnoticed (like names), but I want it to be this way for now so that the Kro can be discovered step by step in a campaign of another faction and then completely in their own.

The Kro

The Kro castle looks like a wet sand castle (dripping technique), but it`s not completely random. The buildings are decorated with ornaments. Only the center part is pretty, though, the suburb is full of lousy shacks.
Basically it`s a mixture of alien-like and renaissance architecture.

The Kro look like purple octopus-alien-human hybrids. They have quite large eyes, but their body structure is much like humans. Their face or body may have some tentacles, but may not.

Worship: no god, the "king" is seen as the divine ruler.
Associated Colors: Dark grey, purple, dark blue, red
Relations with other factions: interactions are rare as the Kro have only now returned to their homeland and established a powerful society. Although some ruins have been found earlier and some risky expeditions have been made by human explorers, not much is known about the Kro. At this point, they seem to be neutral, but as they have not tried to make any significant moves to interact with other races, they should be held under surveillance.
Although it should be noted that the Kro are showing slight interest in Dark Elves.

Hero: Dominator
Primary Skill Dsitribution: Attack 30%, Defense 30%, Knowledge 20%, SP 20%

Pros:
Creatures have high HP and dmg stats.
good growth at lower levels
Powerful lvl 7

Cons:
Imbalanced lineup - fragile walkers at first, very fragile, but powerful first shooter at lvl 4.
No flier until lvl 7

History:
A small summary of Kro history taken from human schoolbooks (currently only humans - aka Haven - sufficient information about the Kro).
"It seems that the Kro is an ancient race that inhabited Asha long before humans, elfs and demons arrived here. Still, we are not sure if Asha is the race`s birthplace. Although a complete scenario cannot yet be put together, we have found enough evidence to draw out a general history of the Kro race. It is safe to say that the Kro have changed beyond recognition during their centuries of existence here.
A long, but an uncertain, time ago, the Kro was a highly developed race, both technologically and magically. They waged war with each other and possibly with other, unknown races. Their political structure is unknown, but most likely there was no central rule and different "tribes" had remarkable cultural, poitical and social structures. It seems that two (tribes A and B) were significanlty more powerful than the others. (PS! attemps at translating the Kro language have not yet been fruitful, so exact names cannot be given.") After a long and devastating war between these two and their allies, it came down to one last battle.
At some point, one tribe was gaining a decisive advantage. Then, as a last resort, group of heroes (read more about heroes in Culture section) from tribe A used an unknown, yet very powerful, device. The exact purpose and origin of this device is again unknown, but what we do know is that something went terribly wrong... The effect of it can be described as "an Armageddon cast by 10 most powerful Warlocks at the same time, topped by a Curse of the Netherworld of 10 Necros, empowered by 10 Mark of Wizards, a favored enemy list and lots and lots of Bloodrage!!!". A powerful explosion wiped out a large portion of the Kro population. Sounds unbelievable, but the battle probably took place between two major Kro cities. And that was not all, the explosion somehow ripped through dimensional planes and actually teleported a portion of the land into another dimension. And the strangest thing is, the ground zero was unaffected by the explosion`s destructive force. While the Asha Kro were weakened by the war overall, other unknown ancient races probably conquered them and wiped them out completely. This was the end of the Kro in Asha for this time.
Again, a lot is left ambiguous about the surviving Kro, but two things are clear.
1. The "other world" was probably not the best place to live so over time the Kro changed physically and mentally, most notable difference is the evolution of a "slave subspecies", which was probably caused by some Kro having to live underground. This evolution, coupled with the general militaristic idealogy among the survivors, gave rise to monarchy, which wasn`t common during the ancient Kro times.
2. After an obvious, general downfall of the surviving Kro society, nobody was powerful enough to deal with this dimensional shift. After time, however, the Kro became powerful enough to transfer themselves back to Asha - this is how they have established themselves once more after millenia of absence.

Now, the Kro have returned, changed beyond recognition."

Culture:
As said before, the Kro live under a firm Monarch, a trend of the New Age. Another new feature is the "slave race", which are actually devolved Kro`s. The slaves compose a large portion of the entire Kro population and serve not only nobles, but also the "common man".
Heroes were and have remained important figures and it is believed a special guild of heroes even has some rule over the military.
Compared to the Old Age Kros, the present ones are technologically not as nearly as advanced, but have or are gaining same levels in magic. The Kro even have a special kind of magic, which is called Omen - mostly mind-related spells, but evidence have found that more powerful Omen practitioners can even see the future.

Creatures
I`m going to write stats for only maybe the base creature to give the basic idea and to avoid being too detail, which may get confusing.

Tier 1
This tier can be considered as Half-Beast as they are devolved and differ greatly from the regular Kro. I don`t have pics now, but I try to describe them.
Slave
"The Kro slaves` come in great numbers, but even one can be deadly to a trained soldier if care is not taken. With no special training and equipment, these mindless beasts tear through anything using only their razor sharp claws."
look like Ghouls from Warcraft 3
ATT 1
DEF 1
dmg 1-4
HP 7
INT 10
SPD 7
Abilities:
Enraged

Berserk 1st Upgrd.
"Berserks are completely devoted to their lords and nothing can persuade them to think otherwise. They are completely fearless and can stand against even the most frightful of beast without moving a finger... or should we say, "a finger attached to a sword-long claw"."
Better HP and min dmg.
Abilities: Enraged, Subject of the Lord*

Claw Beast2nd Upgrade
"The most devolved of all the Kros, Claw Beasts are nothing more than animals that are linked to others only by a fading memory of common ancestors."
Better HP than Berserk, other stats same as base.
Abilities: Enraged, First Strike*

New Abilities:
Subject of the Lord: this creature is immune to all mind related spells and effects; likewise, this creature`s morale never goes below 0.
First Strike: if this creature is attacked by enemy, it retaliates before the enemy attack.

Tier 2
Scrap Golem
"After their first encounters with wizards, the Kro magicians and craftsmen have started creating these human-like golems. Put together from different materials, these golems are hardly as perfect and good as Academy masterpieces."
ATT 2
DEF 3
DMG 2-4
HP 10
INIT 9
SPD 5
Abilities:
Elemental, Reconstruct*

Dirt Golem 1st Upgrd
"Picking organic compounds over others, the Dirt Golems are constructed. Considered to be the masterpieces of Kro golem crafting, the Dirt Golems are truly interesting beings. Despite still lacking the finesse of Wizard golems, the Dirt golems have a powerful ability in their arsenal."
Improved DEF ATT and HP stats
Abilities: Elemental, Immunity to Earth, Rebuild*

Wreck Golem 2nd Upgrade
"A certain evidence that humor might exist in the otherwise gloomy Kro society. Hardly masterpieces, these roughly made abominations represent everything a wizard`s golem mustn`t. How exactly they even stand together, is still a mistery; some scholars suggest that even the Kro don`t know."
Improved HP and slightly dmg.
Abilities: Elemental, Reconstruct*, Bad Patchwork*

New Abilities:
Reconstruct: using the limited armor plating they have, these creatures can resurrect a part of their stack. Scrap Golem: one time per battle, DEF is reduced to 0 (including DEF from hero stat boost, but excluding spells, artifacts and reduction from Defense skill). Wreck Golem: One time per battle, DEF is not lost.
Rebuild: use one turn to resurrect a % of the fallen stack. The number of creatures after a rebuild is set as the new maximum number of creatures in the stack. This means that spamming Rebuild can never be used to bring back the entire stack. (for example, I have 10 Golems in stack, 5 are killed, after Rebuild I have 7. If during the next round no more Golems are killed and I use Rebuild again, it doesn`t go over 7) Also, this ability cannot be used on board a ship.
Bad Patchwork: this creature has a chance to take less damage from ranged and melee attacks, but also a chance to take more damage from melee and magical attacks.

Tier 3
Recruit
"Recruits are the backbone of basic Kro infantry. They are both well trained, numerous and actually resemble a real Kro, unlike the Slaves. They wield their iron spears with skills matching even the slender elves."
Average human sized purple warriors dressed in dark grey ringmail, wearing a pointy helmet and a spear. And despite the earlier elf reference, these Kro warriors are bulky and resemble human warriors rather than elves.
ATT 5
DEF 4
DMG 5-7
HP 23
SPD 5
INIT 8
Abilities:
Assault

Trooper 1st Upgrd
"Troopers stand firm against an oncoming foe. Even if left alone on the battlefield, these warrior never give up, they never surrender and they never go down without taking at least one life with them."
Improved DEF, ATT and HP
Ringmail has turned into metal armor with a full helmet.
Ability: Assault, Pierce*

Battlemaster 2nd Upgrade
"Battlemasters are good at two things: fughting and making others better at it."
Generally same, only helmet is decorated with two horns and the spear also has some flag like decorations.
Excellent HP, slightly better DEF
Abilities: Assault, Battleforce*

New Abilities:
Pierce: this creatures` attack ignores 15% enemy DEF
Battleforce: All friendly creature adjecent to a stack possessing this ability get a temporary morale and ATT boost.

Tier 4
Headhunter
"Armed with an unknown weapon that resembles a big crossbow that fires purple beams of light - it seems that this strange light has other uses besides dealing massive pain to the recipient."
The creature itself isn`t as big, but the weapon is quite long, which makes it a large creatures. Creature is dressed in black light armor, resembling a robe. Weapon is, as said, like a crossbow, but shoots shining beams of purple light. When shot, there is a very strong recoil and lots of smoke to show the shot is very powerful.
ATT 9
DEF 6
DMG 10-12
HP 30
INIT 10
SPD 4
Abilities:
Shooter, Large Creature, Disruption Beam*

Mindhunter 1st Upgrade
"Mindhunters truly take the words "share the pain" to a whole new level. These guys use an improved version of these unknown magical missile weapons that can turn Mindhunters into devastating melee warrior as well."
Weapon is similar, maybe a bit improved, but the creature itself is more armored. Also, when it attacks melee, it takes the top of the crossbow-weapon and a long purple blade is formed at the tip.
ATT 14
DEF 7
dmg 10-16
HP 34
Init 10
SPD 5
Abilities:
Shooter, Large Creature, Disruption Beam* No Melee Penalty, Transfer Pain*

Liquidator
"Skipping the melee training their brothers in the Mindhunter academy had, Liquidators equip themselves with state of the long range weaponry and simply rip through everything that might be unlucky to get in the way."
The dude himself looks practically the same, maybe a bit more armored, but the weapon is a lot more shiny and full of gadgets.
Stats are exactly as Mindhunter, only SPD is still 4 and DEF 6.
Abilities: Shooter, Large Creature, Disruption Beam*, Prominence Beam*

New Abilities:
Disruption Beam: this creatures` ranged attack has a chance of disrupting the targeted enemy`s mind, possibly pushing it back on the ATB bar and/or lowering target`s morale (these effect can occur at the same time or separately)
Note that both Mindhunters and Liquidators have better chances of these effects.
Also, Liquidator`s Prominence Beam ability gives them a chance to affect all targets.
Transfer Pain: This creature can link itself to any other creature on the battlefield to transfer some of it`s received damaged to the linked creature. Linked friendly creatures drain a lot more damage and a % is even lost, while linked enemy creatures drain less dmg and none is lost in the process. One turn is lost when this ability is activated.
Prominence Beam: Passive ranged attack. ALL BUT FRIENDLY KRO creatures are damaged in a straight line of the attack. There is a chance to get a critical hit on every target (calculated separately), which deals 1.5X dmg.

Tier 5
Ojoj
"Ojoj is an attempt to mimic the pronounciation of the Kro word for this rhinoceros-like creature. These domesticated Kro creatures have never been seen in Asha before. Everything about these creatures is unknown, except that they are quite calm in nature and can live both in water and on land."
Looks like a rhinoceros, but more fish like. Purple.
ATT 13
DEF 13
DMG 7-14
HP 80
INIT 8
SPD 6

Abilties: Large Creature, Thick Skin*

Ojoj Bull
"Even though it is not certain if these Ojojs really are male, they have some similarities with "normal Asha" male animals. Ojoj Bulls are significantly more aggressive too - a trait not common in regular Ojoj - they also tend to favor land over water."
They have two horns in addition to the one on their nose; red in color.
HP to 120, raised DEF and min dmg
Abilities: Large Creature, Thick Skin*, Magic Resistance 50%*, Magic-proof 50%

Ojoj Grawler
"These strange Ojoj are most likely speacially bred by the Kro to match the need for a somewhat different battlebeast. This "simple" name comes from a specific "grawling" sound they make. Ojoj Grawlers, as opposed to Bulls, tend to favor water over land."
A bit darker purple with mixed dark blue in. Has only one nose horn.
HP to 100, raised DEF, max and min dmg.
Abilities: Large Creature, Thick Skin*, Magic Resistance 50%*, Bash

New Abilities:
Magic Resistance 50%: this creature has a 50% chance to resist an enemy spell. Special side-effects of spells (like freeze) can also be resisted, but special creature abilities (like Seduce) can not.
Thick Skin: this creature takes less damage from melee and ranged attacks and is also immune to all DEF lowering effects.

Tier 6
Devotee
"Devotees perform the much needed magical Kro rituals. They are feared by commoners, but aren`t quite high on the hierarchy ladder as they would like to be."
ATT 17
DEF 19
DMG 17-24
HP 80
INIT 9
SPD 5

Abilities: Shooter, Spellcaster (Spellbook: Basic Confusion)

Acolyte
"Acolytes have gained much higher social status than Devotees and are thus allowed to practice Kro special Omen magic. And even though it`s not combat type magic, Acolytes have found a use for it by mixing in a little Summoning."
Better HP, DEF, mana and INIT
Abilities: Shooter, Spellcaster (Spellbook: Basic Confusion, Summon Omen Beast*)

Preacher
"There isn`t much difference between Acolytes and Preacher. They are both highly valued in the Kro society and both practice Omen magic. Only that Preachers seem to see the negative side of things..."
Same as Acolyte
Abilities: Shooter, Spellcaster (Spellbook: Basic Confusion, Summon Omen Knight*)

New Abilities:
Summon Omen Beast: Acolytes are able to summon a powerful beast that has more ATT and dmg epending on how many friendly creatures have been killed during the battle. Omen Beast has Scavanger ability.
Summon Omen Knight: Preachers are able to summon a powerful knight that has more DEF and HP depending on how many friendly creatures have been killed during the battle. Omen Knight has Resurrection ability/spell.

Drake
"Although these monsters didn`t appear with the Kro as Ojoj, they have been seen rarely and by few. Drakes are even so powerful, that many have compared them to the mighty Dungeon dragons."

ATT 25
DEF 23
DMG 45-63
HP 200
INIT 10
SPD 9
Abilities:
Large Creature, Flier, Crippling Wound

King Drake
"King Drakes are even more uncommon, only a couple of those have been seen before the arrival of the Kro. But it is a sight to be remembered, as their mere presence overwhelms anyone to approach them."
Almost same, butb they are blue and gold in color, with some decorative stuff to resemble a mane. They also have big ass wings.
ATT 30
DEF 30
DMG 55-63
HP 230
INIT 10
SPD 9
Abilities:
Large Creature, Flier, Crippling Wound, Cursing Attack, Fright Aura

Leviathan
"Leviathans might not be as royal as King Drakes, but they are most certainly just as powerful."
Leviathan is purple-blue in color and is a bit more bulky. It also has some water-creature properties.
ATT 28
DEF 32
DMG 45-65
HP 230
INIT 10
SPD 9
Abilities:
Large Creature, Flier, Crippling Wound, Regeneration, Water Jet*

New Abilities:
Water Jet
activated ranged attack, unlimited. This ranged attack can be made if the enemy unit is at half range (1/2 of the battlefield), no ranged penalty applied.

Racial Ability: Protection Field
this is very simple - Kro creatures are surrounded by a defensive field that absorbs a portion of damage taken.
This field has it`s own HP that regenerates over time. If it hits 0, no damage is absorbed, but after one turn, a portion already regenerates.
However, the more HP the shield has, the more dmg is actually negated. For Example: shield has 1000 HP, unit gets 500 dmg, a % is absorbed - unit gets 200 dmg, shield has 800 HP. Shield has 500 HP, unit gets 500 dmg, a % is absorbed - shield has 300 HP, unit gets 250 dmg. Numbers are completely random just to give an impression

Knowledge grants the hero more shield HP; SP makes the shield absorb more dmg (but not significantly; enough to make a difference)

Basic Protection Field: Level 1 and 2 units gain the field
Advanced Protection Field: Level 3 and 4 untis gain the field
Expert Protection Field: level 5 and six gain the field
Ultimate Protection Field: level 7 gain the field and field maximum HP is raised by 50%.

Perks:
Field of Revenge: passive ability. All protection fields gain the ability to mirror back some dmg back to the attacker.
Transfer Protection: activated ability. the hero is able to transfer some of his/her mana to repair a damage Protection Field. Similarly, the hero is able to drain the Field`s HP to fill his/her own mana pool.
Omen Sight: activated ability, unlimited, at any time during your turn (like runes); drains hero mana. Whatever action is taken by any creature, the hero is able to predict the exact outcome of the action (Incorporeality, Magic resistances, exact damage etc.) The hero can use it during his/own turn also without losing a turn.

Glad to see this isn't dead, though I feel very stupid about not explicitly adding a proper perk or ability to enhance Destructive for the Royalists...

Edit: Did my faction disappear or something? I did a minor edit, changing the word "fire" with "white" in a place, and it's gone! I think it should have been the real 3rd post on this page, just after Sith's 24 h warning.

Edit 2: The post just fell off the edge of the world it seems, I can't find it in my profile either. Does it say anywhere that this thread is rigged against edits? I neglected to make it a stealth edit because this post would've shown me as the last poster anyway.

I made a lot of edits in the faction while I was posting it, so if I do it now it will either be in a crude form or too different...
