I guess nobody gives a damn about this thread anymore but i searched for a thread on hourglass and stumbled across this thread and found it interesting. Maybe some other people find it as interesting as me so i wanted to comment on it.
One of the main thesises of this thread was that Twilight World is an orc map and because of this strider (orcs) won vs sq79 (sylvan). Quite surprising because anybody who is familiar with twilight world knows that the only way orcs can win vs sylvan on tw is when sylvan suicides. If you want to win on tw dont play orcs ^^, it's the weakest race here (maybe except vs academy).
Perhaps Strider sometimes got bashed without reason but well ... that's the past. So please start the new caesar finals so i will be entertained again by marvellous forum-fighting of natalka and infinitus .

I think the map was different at the time but as you have probably guessed that it had little to do with Sq forfeiting.

Yes that's right. Sylvan was stronger back then. Zilo cut archers to 5 per week and took wood off the starting isle because sylvan was too strong in the early versions.

Interesting to see someone dig up this thread hehe, sweet memories.

Anyway, the twilight map you know of was entirely different from this version, not to mention the changes in game mechanics from 2 years ago when it was just a trial map.

There was no free unicorns that time, and the garrison at the wolves and other places was entirely different and flaming ballista was at full power that time instead of 50% , not to mention again there was 0 f.enemy to fight on orcs throughout the entire fixed garrison areas within the rush-able time.

So it was a flaw which orcs could break much earlier than any races and rush sylvan to death just because of that easy break there from war machines.

But Elvin is right , it was never because of this issue, but the bashing of hypo came after I started it, and i never regretted it once.
Since then the bashings came pouring down, why ? Because anyone who's played him has the same feelings I bet.

Last Patch was October 2007 so ballista was already nerfed if im not mistaken and sylvan got nerfed in the process of finetuning the map. No offense meant sq79 but sylvan vs orcs is and was not pretty for orcs on tw (I started playing it in summer 2008). Except maybe that in the first version the dark book was missing on the map. Dont know about that. But with the dark book orcs stand no chance there. That's why most tw regulars implement the "no dark book" rule so orcs dont get slaughtered everytime.

They did not play an early version of tw, in fact they played a baby version of tw. I hope I have the map at home, will send it to you, you will see it yourself.

If I remember well, even first garrison was much stronger than it is now.

And please, dont forget that snatch was also available that time, which is brutal logistical weapon in orc's hands. When we started a fine tuning of tw with Zilo in first steps we convinced each other to take away snatch and upgrade amount of creatures in the garrisons mainly because orcs were too strong.

In fact in the end it seems that main garrisons are not available for orcs on week 4 (and very risky on week 5), so now its not an orcish map, thats true.

There was no monolith during that time near the main town, it was a later addition actually...
