The Quest for the Armaments of God (OOC)

I was in the HC chatroom with Dagoth, Lexxan and William and we talked about names. Then I was struck by VIOLENT INSPIRATION!

Behold! The World of Left-Earth!

The merciless landscape of Left-Earth has long been torn by many things bad and nasty such as witches, warlocks, ghosts, vampires, demons, giant monsters, evil overlords, war etc. (You know, all that stuff from Conan the Barbarian and Lord of the Rings .) It is not rare that one has a rather tragic past. Stories of heroic deeds, such as plundering a kings castle, destroying some cult, bathing in the blood of dragons are not rare, but for each "heroic" story there are many stories of EPIX FAIL. Legends tell of a legendary treasure of legendary value in a legendary mountain where none has ever been to. The legends say that amongst that treasure is the Manly & Brave, Armaments of God wich once were wielded by the legendaty warrior: Barry, The Combat Defender. They say that the armaments were handed down to him by the (one of the many gods) god, Garrdonius.

Many have lived and died seeking the Armaments of God. Prophecies say that now is the time-period where the Armaments of God shall be found. This is the time when the quest for the armaments is at it's peak! Orcs, elves and men are all searching for the armaments!

You have embarked on The Quest For The Armaments of God!

This is a rather loosely Dungeon Mastered fantasy roleplayin game with swords and magic & stuff. Things will get rather serious, but I say that sense of humor should be kept up.

Few Rules: 1.You can be a very seasoned adventurer (maybe even the lord of darkness!) who has been on the quest for long, but no god mode! 2.Can be funny but not TOO stupid/random.

Here is your character sheet.

Name: (Name)
Race: (Orc, elf, human, dwarf, beast-man/woman(you know, like a centaur, lizard-man etc.))
Allignment: (Not really all that important and you propably don't want to get labeled. leave empty if you want.)
Character Class/Occupation: (From the lowliest peasant to the prince of darkness. NOTE: Ozzy Osbourne is not a class/occupation)
Description: (what is he/she wearing and what does he/she look like and is he/she a he or a she?)
Background: (Background story)
Special powers/attributes: (something special, but nothing too special.)

Any questions? Suggestions? Comments? Applying for play?

Edit:Almost full list of current characters.

Here is my character sheet.

Name: Boris Lakely
Age: 111
Race: Half-Elf, son of a Human Father and an Elven Woman. Half-Elves are mortal, like Humans, but their aging rate is 6 times slower (so 111 is the equivalent of eighteen years)
Allignment: Chaotic Neutral, but may morph to True Neutral, Lawfull Evil or Chaotic Good, due to events.
Class: Cleric of Elendil/Enchanter
Appearance: Boris wears a red shirt and blue pants, but neither are visible because he wears a Snowwhite Robe above it, with a matching Red woolen cloak. His is quite small for a Half-Elf and looks somewhat juvinile, though he's getting the fist symptoms of a beer-belly. His face is hooded.
Equipment: White Robes, a Red Cloak a leather shoulderbag inwhich he keeps is stuff (backpack). Wears no Armour (as he is a Mage), and Carries a long Staffhammer onwhich he leans when he walks and uses as a melee weapon if Magic fails.
Background: Boris was born 111 years ago, to an Elven Mother and a Human father. At the age of 42 he witnessed him mother being Slain by Orcs. He never knew his father, His mother only gave him his surname "Lakely", and once he came of age, at the age of 108 he left his guardian's abode and wandered around Left-Earth, seeking his father, but getting more than he bargained for...

Special Abilities: Able to cast both Clerical and Mage Spells. I able to Morph into a Flaming Eagle.

I happened to have a few things that need be arranged: What would be the starting positions? (I suggest that it should start near/ inside a city)

And I spent some time with my character to see what he would do. Personally, I think he's chaotic neutral, but the test I took in his place, said he'd be chaotic evil. Ow, well...

Robert is not the most trustworthy and will seize every opportunity to run from his enemies, instead of actually going into combat...

Preferably with enemy's purses.

Now, i bid you good night!

P.S.: One more thing, if lex gets a special power, I want one too. I'll take: Darkness: as I advance throughout the story, my cunning and stealth increases so much that I can hide in plain sight.

Fellow Left-Earthians! I have come to you with the lore of the land to help you on making your background! Maybe even those starting places.

The Mighty Orc Clan(s?).

The orcs have all been united into a one big clan, by the great Clanmaster Grulkoth and now live mostly around the Clan Hall or in the cities of the old clans. The orcs are green and/or brown live in tents made out of the skins of animals and usually have quite little belongings besides food, weapons, armor and a purse of money. Both men and women of the orc clans are trained as warriors and blacksmiths and a select few as shamans and battlemages from the age of 6. Orcs have a strong sense of honor and they live and die protecting their honor. The punishments for crimes is death or banishment and the most treacherous ones have their honor taken, by cutting off their fingers so they can never wield a weapon again. The orcs have been in war with humans, dwarves and elves beyond anyones memory and so the orcs have developed deep a hatred for the humans, dwarves and elves. Beast-men have always been welcomed with open arms in to the orc clans for the orcs highly value their beastly features. In war the orcs take no prisioners for inprisionment is a great violation to ones honor, but they do take trophies and other sings of victory.

The Human Empire.

Humans have always been in war with each other and the orcs, but now as they see the orcs being a bigger trheath since they have united the Two Human Kingdoms have united and are now lead by a mighty emperor in their "great" city of Agliath wich is, but a shadow of its old self. The laws in the human society are pretty much the same as they were in the so called real world during the medieval ages. Men go to work and to war while the women take care of the children and the "house". Only a few women live a life on their own unless they are a part of a nomadic tribe. Humans and elves have always been allies and friends while the beast-men that live amonst humans are forced to be slaves, beggars and thieves. Dwarves and humans are allies in some ways but not all that friendly. Humans live in their great city of Agliath or wandering nomad tribes and small backwater towns that have formed around taverns while some live amongst their cult/religion wich vary from not eating meat and pacifism to worshipping demons and chaos. When the Empire is in war they take prisioners and publically execute high profile prisioners and trhow the rest to fight in their arena to entertain the people.

The Elves.

Not much is known of elves for they either are living in their hidden cities (hidden in plain sight) or wandering around the land as nomads or adventurers. Elves are tall and fair (one mgiht say "girly") and live eternally unless killed. They are skilled in the ways of swords, bows, magic and crafts. Unfriendly with dwarves, allies with humans, In war with Orcs. Elves do not want to have anything to do with beast-men.

Dwarves.

Dwarves live in their cities hidden in the mountains or alongside humans in those backwater towns that have formed around inns. Not much is known of them except that they value things that are valuable and food and ale. Dwarves are the greatest smiths rivaled only by the orcs.

Beast-men.

The beast men either live as slaves, thieves and beggars with humans, Honored warriors and shamans with orcs, or nomads by themselves and other nomads. The beast-men prefer to live in a landscape where their beastly half originates from. I.E Centaur's (half man half horse) live in priries and plains, Lizard-men live in swamps and jungles etc.

And about the allignments. This world can't be described by "black and white" I would say that it is more like "black and grey".

The Legend of Barry, the Combat Defender.

They say that Barry defeated the gods themselves in battle and was awarded the Manly & Brave, Armaments of God by Garrdonius, one of the defeated gods. The Armaments consisted of the Manly & Brave, Javellin, Helmet, Shield and Armor. The Armaments gave Barry a long life. During his lenghtened life Barry was obsessed with finding a worthy place to hide all of the wealth he had gathered from conquering demons and gods alike. He found a tall mountain far, far, far, far, far to the north and  decided to hide his wealth to a cave that he found high up on the mountain. In the cave he met the father of all dragons, Fermbror. Barry offered the dragon all of his belongings for guarding. The dragon told Barry that only one as mighty as Barry could get past him for the great treasure's that have been hidden there and told the old Barry to rest in peace.

Questions? Controversialities? Misunderstandings? Comments? Suggestions?

My character:

Name: Jeremy the Toneless
Race: Human
Allignment: "good"
Character Class/Occupation: Ozzy Osbourne Bard
Description: Jeremy is a man, about 30 years old and wears a hat like Robin Hood has, but Its made of brown sack-cloth like everything else he wears. He has blue eyes and the color of his long hair is the same as his clothing's. He carries around a lute that he plays alot and a rather small iron dagger.
Background: Jeremy the Toneless is a wandering bard who wishes to write songs and stories of heroic deeds and andventures. He got his extra name "the Toneless" from his bad singing and not all that good playing. He doesn't let it to get him down and keeps trying. He grew up in the great city Agliath in a small peasant family and nothing all that special happened.
Special powers/attributes: Bad singing voice, lousy fighter.

Starting position for the trhee of us would propably be an inn near Agliath since it wouldn't make sense If we started in the orcish lands and It might take time before interaction if we all started very far away from eachother. I think that it would make sense to start there since the little background stories don't seem to make it seem illogical that our characters would be there or somewhere nearby. Are you OK with it?

I wonder about joining... I've played forum RPG before, but habits and rules seem to vary every place. Could you tell me about some "local standards"? I mean eg. I saw Lex and Dagoth writing in first person, and well if I'm not mistaken you refer to Dungeons and Dragons...? (alignments, domains, classes etc.)

The perspective doesn't really matter. I find it easier to write in 1st person. You may join in, naturally. The character creation is DnD, but it's not necessary. You can just write a short bio and you're done and you may adventure with us.

Thanks. And one important thing I forgot:

We post in an order, eg from now on: Keksimaton, Lex, Dagoth, [participant #4], Keksimaton, Lex etc.? Or it is more 'intuitive'? (eg. if two caracters are talking, they post several entries before the others or sg...?)

By the way, I don't really know D&D, but then it won't be a problem I see. I know it only from NWN

I think I'll think up a character then...

Well, we don't need to post in an order, but it is common courtesy to wait for someone to post. Like, if I'm going to talk to lex, I better not put words in his mouth without his permission. With this you can make your own character. Just think what your character would do.

and this + this are the common rules of roleplaying.

Lol. I did that test. Guess what my results were:

Chaotic Good Half-Elf Cleric

Alignment:
Chaotic Good characters are independent types with a strong belief in the value of goodness. They have little use for governments and other forces of order, and will generally do their own things, without heed to such groups.

Race:
Half-Elves are a cross between a human and an elf. They are smaller, like their elven ancestors, but have a much shorter lifespan. They are sometimes looked down upon as half-breeds, but this is rare. They have both the curious drive of humans and the patience of elves.

Primary Class:
Clerics are the voices of their God/desses on Earth. They perform the work of their deity, but this doesn't mean that they preach to a congregation all their lives. If their deity needs something done, they will do it, and can call upon that deity's power to accomplish their goals.
