I cannot properly describe the sheer awesomeness of when you get trapped in the fade. Dreamlike place, must use shapeshifting to get around and solve puzzles - yes regardless of class. And did I tell you you can trasform into a golem? The feeling of power when you slam an opponent or throw a huge boulder smashing opponents is incredible

Just started playing it. The story in the intro cinematic was not very captivating for me "mages who try to steal heaven" why would heaven allow it's creation to reach such pinnacles of power unmatched anyway?
And the game does feel like an hybrid of LOTR, NWN2 and Oblivion. The orcs have almost "uruk-hai" painted on their faces and I could almost hear Legolas and Gimli in the intro  . Once again dwarves are almost gone or heavily crippled in the story.
Anyway I hope I was not wrong to get this game, there is much to see yet.
So is it too difficult to remain alive as a 2-handed fighter?

I have one such companion and he seems to survive well enough, put on a good armour and you should be fine. You may want to use some poultices though, it's easy to die in general. Two handed dishes good damage but you may be annoyed at the slow swings  So far I see shield has some nifty tricks, have yet to see someone with dual weapons.

As a general note (can't talk about this game since I haven't played) I love sword and shield style if I'm playing a fighter/warrior type of character.
It is usually inferior in damage to every other strategy, but at least you're not getting hit every five seconds (dual wielding) or worse (2-handed).

Ok I'm trying the sword and shield warrior first. Later I try different things. I'm guessing party-healing is left to the mages since there's no divine class?
You guys are playing with a rogue on party or think I can make to the end well without one?

Thus far, traps just seem to be inconveniences that you can afford to trigger without it being that big deal of a deal. You can miss out on good loot without a lockpicker through (unless there's an alternative to opening locks that I don't know about yet).

Holy Crap.....
Ah, well , I might be a bit to early to actually be that excited. But to me ( Standing in the 1 area of the game with my sister/mother ) I am getting the ..............
AND frikkin FINALLY ......
NwN1 feeling. ----again----
One scroll with the mouse and your up top / down view and vice versa . Right click move and open / pick up ....
How darn hard can it be to keep it that way ? ( NwN2 wink wink ).
Well now I can only be dissapointed if it's like the neverending string of game that you HAVE to team up with NPC's AND to keep them alive...please don't tell me it's like that.
Could this be the TRUE NwN follow-up ?

Anyway. I can't believe what I said about this game (I probably thought it was an MMO or something) because it looks awesome.
But is it as complicated as the Xbox360 version of Oblivion? -.-
In Oblivion, riding on your horse and combat was soooo annoying. And you had to make lots of complicated potions and stuff all the time -.-
Anyway. I don't like Lionhead Studious anymore. They promise a lot but little gets finished. I think someone should make a spin-off from Fable 1 called Guild of Heroes but that is off-topic.

I can give two pointers on your next companions. I am convinced that Wynna is actually a jedi that sneaked in the setting and as for Zevran.. They finally did it So much for elven stereotypes.

I am gonna get this game one day. But I tell ya, it's not cheap! In England it is cheap! In America its cheap! But in Norway? HAH! Double the cost of how much it costs in America is what you get!
Well, when I do get the game however I am considering running over sterotypes and getting three characters:
Human Mage "Me"
Dwarf Rogue "Minime"
Elf Knight "Pointyearedme"
where the dwarf will be my favorite

I found the game standard level of difficulty challenging and it's not noob-friendly too

Yeah, I switched to normal because hard is too much effort. The enemies have so much quantity.

One of the hardest times I've had was an ambush involving an archer bandit leader and witch in higher ground, a qunari warrior and wolf blocking your narrow path ahead with an archer covering them from behind and a couple extra fighters guarding the path to the higher ground. Man that was HELL. One of the many times I replayed it the witch came down and once she was dead I took my chance and won though still wasn't easy.

Just a bit of history, and a note. Then I will behave. Neither WoW or LoTR were the 'first', so they can not be copied. Sure, they were inovative and made new twists on things, but they too 'copied'. Mostly from old folk tales, from different areas of the world. If you want 'the first' you probably have to go back to cave man times.

Well, Tolkien actually took very much from the nordic fornlore (which is very noticeable, at least for me) and was one of many fantasy writers of his time that built up todays fantasy norms and worlds. On these stereotypes Warcraft is built. So they even copied a copycat.
