As the bandits closed in I drew my sword and directly engaged in battle with the closest bandit. It was a rather large man who wielded his sword like a man that had used it countless times, and I had only trained a few days, but I had the strange spell on me which made me stronger.
I tried to do as Robert had teached me, always keep an eye on the opponent and strike when you got the chance. My opponent was more skilled than me but seemed suprised when I, after his first assualt, retailiated with brutal force. He tried some tricks and fients but all for nothing, after a little while, which felt alot longer, he tried something new, after I blocked one of his swordslashes he continued his momentum with his other hand and hit me hard at my chin. I saw flashes of light infront of my eyes and tried to focus, I saw the bandit stand there slightly stunned that I still stod up and I wasn't late to repay his move, by hitting him hard at the exact same spot.
I saw his eyes roll over, showing only the whites, then he collapsed. I was exhauested and had numerous small wounds all over my body, I turned my back to the opponent and looked around at the battlefield...

I watch Shalan take down the bandit. A bit disappointing, at the beginning, but it turned out to be a nice sight. Satisfied enough, I turn around to take care of some other bandit, only to find that one of them took advantage of my distraction. I received a sneaky blow to the head, sending me to the ground. I just lay there, eyes closed, as if knocked out, but the bandit is still cautious in his approach. I could just be playing dead, for all he knows.

Which I am. A grin appears on my face as a flail of magical force appears. Without as much as a warning, the flail strikes at the bandit, hitting him in the head, in return. He remains standing, but backs away, going on the defensive. He evades a few attacks, but the flail finally manages to strike him in the gut, sending him to the ground.

Seeing as how I don’t really have to get close to the man, I have the flail give him a few strikes more, to insure he’s down for good. I then send the flail to assist anyone who has yet to complete their tasks, starting with the mage, should he still live.

Funny how it seemed that everyone was fighting one-on-one, but Jeremy didn't think of that for adrenaline was pumping very hard in Jeremy, for this was the first time Jeremy ever has had to fight using a sword and he was very nervous.

It seemed that Jeremy's opponent was just as akward as he was with a sword and they both tried to play it defensively, but then Jeremy heard a rather familiar voice in his head: "Your opponent is weak and he was actually intimidiated by your little speech. Keep pressuring him with swift attacks and his nerves will eventually crack, then he will make a fatal error..." Since Jeremy had no better ideas, he quickly decided to follow the necromancer's advice.

Jeremy was attacking the bandit left and right and as the necromancer said, the bandit seemed very distressed when Jeremy took such an aggressive way to attack and Jeremy was attacking almost faster than the slow bandit could even block.

Then Jeremy saw that the look in the bandits eyes changed and the bandit closed his eyes and recklessly trhusted his sword at Jeremy screaming: "AAAAAAGH!"

Jeremy quickly side stepped out of the way and trhusted his sword at the bandit... Jeremy felt something warm on his face. Jeremy pulled his sword out of the bandit's chest and watched as the bandit collapsed on the ground, bleeding and immobile. Jeremy looked at his sword and his hands and saw that they had blood on them and he realised: He had killed a man. "Duck you fool!" The necromancer's voice said, but Jeremy was way ahead of him and had collapsed on his knees out of a stray magic arrow's way...

Jeremy felt like he was going to puke, but he wanted to scream...

Shariya sprinted towards the mage and jumped to a flying kick. The mage casted a magic arrow at her but before it could hit Shariya had vanished to thin air. The mage didn't have time to wonder what had happened when Shariya already came down on the poor man's back. He falls to ground face first Shariya landing elegantly on top of him.

I raise my chilling gaze from the paralysed mage under me to see if there's anyone of the other robbers still alive. The intoxicating smell of blood fills my head with high singing voice. It calls for more. There's one robber who's only unconcious it seems. I slowly lick my lips. My goddess this's too much! My eyes are burning with lust for blood and gore. I turn my eyes back to the mage. I must hold it. They must not see it. I take a quick look at Robert, who's covered in blood, and my eyes twinkle. I quickly turn my eyes back to the mage. Maybe I could drink the mage then. They wouldn't care. NO!, I must seal it in. I can't afford to lose it now. I bring my left heel down on the mage's neck with brutal force. It breaks with a satisfying crack.

My eyes recover their distant look and I step down from the mage's body. I point at the unconscoius robber.
"I think we should tie him up and wait till he waits up so we can ask how they knew about us. I would want to avoind further confrontations like this if possible."
I start aking out the healing items from my bag. I shiver goes through me as the smell of blood fills my head again. I put the cloth that I got out back into the bag.
"On anothet thought, does anyone know any waters near here? I for one could do with less blood around me right now."

Jeremy's face had frozen in a shocked and horrified look as he was on his knees in front of the dead bandit. Jeremy could hear something about tying up one of the stunned bandits and about water, but he didn't care. He had become a killer.

He tried to think that the bandit would have killed him if he had not killed the bandit, but it didn't seem to be a good enough reasoning. "Good! You do realise that this was a very necessary step on your path? You have turned out better than I had expected..." The necromancer's words only tormemted Jeremy even more... For now he fully realised what he truly had gotten himself into... Jeremy couldn't stand the thought of becoming the necromancer's pawn who was to spread terror and death across the land. He would rather die by his own hand.

Jeremy feeled around for his sword, grabbed it and placed its sharp end somewhere around his torso. He really didn't care where he would attempt to impale himself...

Then somebody (or something) grabbed his arm, preventing him from killing himself...

"Owowowow" I said to Jeremy, while I was twisting his wrist away from his body. "I know that blood might make you a drousy, but you almost stabbed yourself there. Imagine what that'd be like? We'd be lost without that map and Shalan would be going on his own. You did good, man, seriously. One bandit less to roam the earth." I said.

I didn't know that our guide was a proficient magic user... I better remember that. I turned back to Jeremy who was looking like he could faint at any moment. "Are you alright, there, man?" I asked while shaking him up a bit.

Jeremy was woken up from his suicidal thoughts by Robert.

Jeremy turned his head and puked on the ground and then shouted: "DO I LOOK LIKE I'M ALL RIGHT!?!? I've just killed a person! No matter was he a bandit or not!"

Jeremy rose up to stand and tried to calm down, but he was still breathing very heavily. "Lets bury the dead and tie up the others for questioning... It doesn't feel right that they knew that we were carrying a valuable map," said Jeremy and continued: "Do we have any rope packed up?"

I rise to my feet, and walk over to where the rest of the group is. I dismiss the created weapon, seeing no more enemies capable of much of anything. I overhear Jeremy and his complaining about having to kill a bandit. I look to my shoulder.

“Toneless, he is, even ou... Oh, right.”

I take time to think about some of the questions presented.

“I don’t have any rope for any fun and games, but the water you’re looking for is in that direction.” I point in the direction of the nearest water source to our current location. “Or it could be over your, or our, head.” I say pointing up, but more above Shariya than anyone else.

"You guys, go ahead! I'm not really dirty..." I said. I said that I'd take care of the chap with the broken arm and tie him up. As I drew my dagger, I walked away from the man. It would be really interesting to know who they were and where they'd get these swords from. I was pondering this, while cutting the shirts of the bandits to ribbons so I could tie my opponent up. I don't think he'd get far with that arm. Maybe I should ask our guide to set it bak or the monk... The one who knows first aid...

I gathered the cloaks of the bandit... They would be too heavy to carry around... Maybe ask shalan...

Jeremy was at a pond near Bandit Point, washing off the blood of the bandit. He was no longer feeling sick, but he was still feeling bad. Jeremmy rubbed his face and hands with the cold water, but he didn't want to wash his clothes for they were his only clothes and he didn't want them to get wet. Jeremy glared at his reflection in the pond and saw the cowardly, weak and foolish bard who couldn't even sing... Jeremy splashed at his reflection and when the water started to clear he could see another face peering over his shoulder. Jeremy turned around quickly, but he saw no one. Troubled by this, Jeremy decided to head back to the others. "Whose face was that?"

Jeremy could see that Robert had tied up the stunned bandit and now was doing something else. Jeremy said: "I think we should stay here for the night for I do not fancy the thougth of having to drag an unconsious brute with us. We'll be having enough time to bury the dead ones too before nightfall."

Before Robert even gets the chance to ask if I know anything of first aid, I’m off elsewhere. The blow I received to my head was nothing I was worried about, but I decided to clean it anyway. And while I was at it, I may as well gather some food. Since I was also in a group, getting some for them would be alright too. So, off I run, hunting for whatever I can manage to obtain.

Not a great deal can be found right here and now, as far as animals go, with all the sounds of battle that just preceded the hunt. Though, a few rabbits make an appearance. Long enough for me to turn into a cheetah, and hunt each one down. After transforming back into myself, I take each one, and head back. Along the way, I grab some plants to add to the meal, and some more berries. A few acorns are added to my belongings, as I find them as well.

Upon my return, aside from the berries and acorns, I drop all which was hunted on the ground, bite marks and all. I sit by a tree, facing the others.

“Makes you a bit hungry, doesn’t it? Well, there’s the food. I do have to admit that I’m not the best cook in the world. It’s probably best if one of you handles it. So, fix it how you like.”

It was getting dark and the stuff that Ethan (the annoying young man) had brought were boiling in a small kettle that was on a small, but happily burning fire. Jeremy was stirring the odd stew with a wooden spoon and he had a rather absent look on his face... "AAAARGH!!! Let me go you dog's bottoms!!!" an angry voice screamed. Jeremy was woken up from his wandering toughts as he realised that the bandit had woken up.

I tried to shush him. "Now, now, there's no need to be mean, no there isn't." I said in a motherly tone. the bandit crawled a little back. He realised his arm was in a twisted angle and screamed as loud as he could. "You see, our dear guide has mysteriously disappeared a few minutes ago and I'm afraid that your arm has to be set back, otherwise they'll have to amputate." I then said with a wry smile.

I think that Jeremy wrote a verse about this, when he tried to document our journey. Anyways, I placed him against the tree and I placed my feet against his shoulder. I held his hand. We counted until three and then I pulled his arm until a loud snap was heard and his armwas back into position. The large man howled in agony. I strapped his arm to his chest with a clean piece of cloth and that's how I treated my first patient victim.

"I have to admit that you are one of the btter swordsmen I encountered in my travels." I said as in an attempt to distract him. The man turned and hissed: "I know who you are, my dear friend, you're-" "The man who bested you and can do so again without hesitation" I interrupted. I tried to be as threatening as possible. I pulled out my dagger. The man's eyes widened as I was subtly playing with it. "Jeremy, how do you plan on interrogating him, actually?" I yelled back.

"Physical torture!? Now the bard is speaking my language! No need for that slow heating of metal, though. Let me assist."

Without waiting for a thing, I quickly rise up, and move over to Robert. I take the dagger, and place it within the cast, on bare skin; under any sleeves, if the bandit has any.

"Best give the information quick, or do your best to resist moving that arm. Sure, it may not last very long, but it's going to get hot."

I cast a spell on the dagger, and its temperature rises.

"Lucky you, though. Well, I've no real interest in the information. Only a warning. Just answer the inquiries asked of you, or I will have all the enjoyment I can get out of you."

I walk away, leaving the bandit for the others to question.

~It's not a boring occupation to travel along with a dwarf rouge a half-elf cleric and a gnome inventor. Interesting, eventful, amusing... But probably "whimsical" is the best expression for it...~ Karl thought as he was walking a few steps behind the trio.

"Ai wud give 'alf o'ma beard fer a pie..." The dwarf complained, staring fixed into the distance.
"Oh, you know my great auntee Albertha loved cooking pies herself. Noone really ate them though. Well, it might had something with her fancy of odd herbs... or was it her ulcerous hand...?"

~I wonder if there was a single branch on that family tree without any explicit abnormality.~ Karl went on with his thinking.

"This should be all right for tonight." Boris said, announcing their next camp-site. The routine began: Boris lits a fire, the gnome erects the tents the dwarf looks after the dinner and Karl draws the magical circle. These long days without any remarkable changes made it a bit flat and he was absolutely clueless. So at the campfire, he finally asked Boris about the actual aim of the trip.

"The Armaments o..."
"of Gods" Karl finished the sentence. "I have read about a hundred times about them. I never would imagine in my weirdest dreams that I may ever look after them. But if you might want to know my opinion: It is but big rubbish. "Armament of Gods" Really! If they belonged to any supernatural beings, how could a simple warrior get them, eh? And why did he hid them?

"So you don't believe in them?" The gnome interrupted.
"Yes and no. I know that those artifacts exist, but I won't bet a rotten fish bone on their godly origin. They are highly magical metals with highly magical gems, that's all. And every magic comes to an end... sometime." He stressed it with putting out Boris's magical fire then re-lighting it.
Strangely, Boris seemed to take the last words into serious consideration.

"Alright" I said, while I came closer to the bandits. I felt a bit triumphant that we didn't have to use actual violence on him. On second thought maybe that was for the best, since maybe his companion couldn't stomach so much violence. Anyway, there were two immediate questions that popped up in my head: Who the hell do you work for and where did you get those nasty curved swords?

Off course, I tried to be more subtle than that, obviously. I picked up my dagger which was still a little hot and hid it in my sleeve. "Ouch!" I yelled when I realised my mistake that the blade was hotter than ever and definitely a lot hotter than the handle. I let out a little squint and realised that would leave a mark. "The chicks dig it." I said with a wry smile.

"Now, could you perhaps tell me about your financially supportive middle man?" I said. the bandit looked very surprised. "Do you honestly talk like that? Seriously? I mean, what the hell is a 'financially supportive middleman?" The bandit mocked. I didn't have a lot of patience, definitely with that searing pain on my forearm and I punched him in the face. it was a soft punch, but it unsettled Shalan and Jeremy a bit or so it seemed.

"Who's your boss and where did he get those scimitars?" I then asked directly.

"Well," Karl said, visibly gloating at my ignorance "sure someone of your education should understand, Master" -he put a lot of disdain into the last word- Boris." "Magical remains effective over time, depending on the owners powers. If someone of mediocre magical power (not a difficulty seeing you lot) would find the Armaments, they would appear to be to barely more than Swords, Shield and Crowns. However of a Magically powerful Adventurer would stumble upon them (like me for example), they might turn out to be more powerful than the average Sword or Shield.
"Might?" I said "They might?"
"Erm..." Said Karl who continued with reluctance "There are power-ups that can increase the effects of magical items. Surely something we need if we seek these... Armaments" -he pronounced that word with certain reluctance- "I know of one that can be found in the Dungeons of Agliad, an artifact called the Nether Scroll. It would increase it's reader's power immensely" He chuckled, as if he was satisfied by this thought.
"Hmm, well" I said, a bit overwhelmed by this large amount of knowledge "Agliad is on our route, so we certainly can search from the Nether Scroll as well..."
For the first time, Karl seemed satisfied with a decision of mine.
"Excellent. We'll leave at dawn"

I wanted to point out to Karl that I was the leader of the Party, but didn't bother. Karl could be very unsympathetic (even more than before) if he was pissed off. Anyway, Karl retired to his tent, and Grim, yawning joined him.

I got up to enter the tent but, Hans held me back. "Don't trust him, Boris" he said.
"Why-"
"That Nether Scroll he was talking about... it isn't a power-up for hidden magical artifacts; It increases the Magical Power of whoever reads it. He's searching for his own power, Boris, he doesn't care about our quest. You know, Uncle Stooges once stumbled across a Nether Scroll and-"
"Thanks for the Info, Hans" I quickly added. I wasn't in a mood for another of Hans's Family Tales, especially after Turnip Tea.

Hans, retired to the tent, leaving me near the campfire. Though I was tired, I didn't enter the tent. Instead, I thought about the Armaments, Nether Scrolls and the Wizard who seemingly didn't care about Armaments, but still seemed to know way too much for someone who doesn't care at all...
