As a centaur Roland had an extra hard stomach for alcohol, he would need more than a barrel of 100-year old wine to take him down.

Roland heard what the two escapees had to say and then chocked because he was laughing so hard.

"5 meals a day! haha, Listen, you wont get these "5 meals a day" your requesting, if you were royalty it might be possible, but us ordinary people are lucky to get 2 meals a day." said Roland who laughed more at this.

"Well, I actually do have to go to Agliath, to take some package to the north, we can stick till then, but if you want one of the jobs shes offering, dont expect her to interview you personally, you might get one of the scribes to write up a resume so the queen can look at it and deem what kind of job you are fit for." explained Roland who abandoned his drink and walked over to the mage over in the corner.

Ten or twelve beer cups littered the floor. The white garment the Mage was wearing was one huge beer stain, and he hiccuped when he talked.

"Uze hea foh a poltah to Agilah?" said the mage who straitened up using his staff.

"Listen up, Listen up!!! Iz openin anhotha poltah to Agilah, if uze gonah com gatha up!" said the mage addressing the pub.

There was a scramble as all the people in the pub lined up to go through the portal.

Chou, Bettle, and Roland were in front.

"Awrigh, ere' goes!"

He bumbled some incantation, and waved his hands and opened a portal.

The portal was a blue circle that burned blue fire at the edges.

There were a multitude of images that flashed, from the city streets, to the serene countryside.

"Come on, unless youd rather stay here..." Roland said as he walked to the portal and jumped through it.

After those who had lined, up left the mage got more sober.

When he was done he walked to the bar and sighed.

"After this thing is over, my liver will be a shadow of its former self, one more round." said the mage who got to drinking once more.

"Gee, how many beers have you had?" asked the barman.
"OVER NINE-THOUSAND!!!" Said the mage laughing maniacally

"Pick up the stick, Robber." the old man said. Both stood in the attick of the old inn. He picked up a long, sturdy stick that lied at his feet. "Try to hit me. Our goal is for you to be able to hit me as frequently as possible." Robert immediately rushed forward and lunged at the man. His strike was blocked halfway. The old man held his stick with one hand. Robert tried to puch forward with both hands and feet, but was suddenly kicked by his surprisingly agile opponent. "Remember, Robber, the sword is not your only weapon. It's your body you take into a fight, a sword is only a means of killing and that is usually quite undesired. Now... Try to deliver a few swift strokes with one hand." The old man instructed as he himself went to take a fencing stance. Robert rushed forward again, struck at the old man's sword and tried to follow up with a push from his shoulder. The man blocked and quickly sidestepped which sent Robert sprawling to the other side of the room.

"Keep your balance and watch your opponent's movements first. Keep watching your opponent, anticipate his movements and NEVER, EVER, I can not stress this enough: never attack blindly. Any trained swordsman will finish you off before you can even turn back and see what the hell went wrong. Try to kee your distance now. Your opponent is stronger and wields a short weapon, so it's not a good idea to get into close quarters with him. Judge your opponent and yourself as fairly as possible and try to draw out as much of an advantage as you can." The instructor lectured.

Robert listened carefully, trying to calculate his movements and the possibilities of the room. He nodded and quickly rushed forward again. The insructor assumed a defensive stance in an instant. Robert quickly struck, the instructor parried, while Robert quickly retreated a few steps. the instructor pressured him by moving forward trying to hit Robert with the stick. Robert stepped back far enough to dive behind the random crate with supplies for the inn and avoid direct contact with the instructor. "Terrain is very important indeed." the instructor said. And, with a surprising show of force he kicked the crate closer against the wall. A loud bang was heard, as Robert was locked between the crate andthe wall. "Make sure your enemy can't use something against you. Judge your enemy correctly."

Robert crawled out of the tight space with a bruise on his forehead. "Yes, sir." he complied. "That's about it for today, I guess... we'll be working on attack patterns the next few weeks and try to incorporate today's lesson in duels. Now, scram!"
Robert went downstairs and suddenly stepped into a butling city.
Where was the inn?

Robert suddenly was much bigger and stood amongst elves. Elves? There aren't any elves in the South are there? He turned around and saw nothing behind him, except a continuation of the street. He then noticed he was travelling in beggar's clothes...

These strange notions stayed with him, even after Robert woke up, thinking about his past life. Huld apparently was already awake. Robert didn't want Huld to notice him waking up, so he closed his eyes, trying to figure out whether he was capable of using his legs and arms.

A scent of breakfast wafted in the air. A drowzy man woke up and was shocked to see that it was morning. He picked himself up and made his way to the source of the odour. "Damn! I overslept. It was supposed to be a nap," Jeremy lamented and checked his companions. They seemed to be sound asleep, except for Huld who was preparing toast and eggs. Should he wake them up? Nay, they are to rest before resuming their journey. The battle has taken it's toll on them; it may be a while before they can afford another passage.

"Morning," Jeremy greeted Huld and observerved how the fire crackled away. The words had started to taste like wood.

Master Korneliu was stern on the outside but his insides were... even sterner. No, a cold-hearted beast that's what he is. A model asassin. He kills the mark without hesitation. And that is what Chou should learn if he wanted to go up the ranks. The kid was promising, the master thought.

"Sharp as a knife, quick as a falcon, lunges like a leopard and all that... but he always have to ask too many questions."

They had to brainwash Chou all the time. So the master paired him up with Beetle who will do anything for money thinking that the latter might influence the former. Master Korneliu thought he had it all figured out until Beetle started asking unnescessary questions as well. Soon enough, Beetle and Chou were being sent to the hashish grounds way more frequently than normal and it wasn't long until the both of them started getting difficulties in distinguishing what is real and what is not.

Right now Chou is just waking up from another portal collapse. He saw Beetle throw up on a corner.

"Does it take much time to get used to these portal things?" Chou asked the centaur who looked cool. Unshaken.

"Hah, no you just have a weak stomach, all humans have the same problem, how do you think i drank a whole barrel of beer and i aint yet drunk!" said Roland in a raised voice over the babble of the street.

Nobles strutted over to shops on either side, begars stood at every corner, palm outstretched.

Merchants haggled with commoners, children played in the street, and a line of bedraggled figures stumbled up to the bar called New Hope.

"We will have enough time to vomit our drinks later, come on." said Roland who pulled up Beetle from the floor.

Once inside the bar they could see huddles of silent people at the bar, slumping theire heads on the table and sometimes moaning.

Those who had come before them were reading the notice board that said,

The Queen advises unemployed men and women to be at the castle at 10:00 am for an interview and job assignment.

The poster didnt tell what the job is, but it would have interested Roland if he had seen it.

He offered to buy the two a bed and food, and then help them find the castle.

"You ain't so bad Roland. Look at this room. Reminds me of the Molochan Gang Wars. Mmmmm, fast times. We were barricaded in some flat against a pack of maddened street rats and... " Beetle soaked his shirt in a pale of cold water. "...they had this paper on the wall, tables like these, even the chairs, the pots. This place just makes me feel so old.

"I'll have to say, thank you as well, Sir," Chou winks at Roland.

There was a knock on the door.

"Say, Roland, I know you could really use some drinks right now so I ordered three barrels."

Then another knock and some giggles.

"And three harletes to brighten up our nights."

"Don't worry about it, Roland, we are quite loaded."

"Quite loaded," Chou nods at Beetle.

Three men roll three barrels into the room as three women in tattered brown gowns skip in and start undressing slowly, eyes enticing, mouths smiling and legs kicking theatrically.

Beetle took a long pipe from his bag and started chopping some hash. He passed it to Chou who took a big hit and filled one of the girls' mouth with smoke. The girl laughed and choked and laughed harder. The pipe ends up in Roland's hand.

"Wouldn't do me much good if i did, cant get high, even if i tried." said Roland who passed it to the next person.

Roland had a nagging suspicion that he was being bribed into doing something he was sure he did not want to do.

The women must have been very alluring to Chou and Beetle, but Roland wasnt a big fan of human legs.

They were far to hairless and smooth.

Even if they had the tops of female centaurs, he still got no sensual kick out of them.

Roland got up and walked out of the room into a narrow corridor.

It was a general assumption that centaurs couldn't climb/descend stairs.
They actually could, but it was very slow business.

He held the balustrade and slowly walked down the stairs.

Some of the patrons were still there, but most were either drunk or passed out.

He opened the door and walked into the street and then behind the building.

There were bushes, shrubs and a couple of empty barrels in the buildings back yard.

Roland folded his legs and sat down, hidden by the brush.

He then fell off into an light doze.

He woke next morning refreshed, and went over to see if Chou and Bettle were interested in the queens offer.

Guess Who is Back?
posted July 27, 2009 09:53 PM

After eating dinner and bread with the strange group and listing to the gnomes family stories Al'Quil stood up.
He looked at the heavily injured group and said "Amongst my companions are a cleric who might be able to heal you and your friends. Do you want me to bring him here?"
The bard looked up at Al'Quil and nodded as a responds
Al'Quil nodded himself and said "Well, good day everyone, I will be back later with the priest." before he left.

When he came back much later, Al'Quil found his group's tent under attack.
He could see Elice, laying on the ground unconcious, with many dead male bodies around her.
Aldrianda stood in the opening of the tent, firing arrows at anyone who got near Elice.
Golaw and Grim was busy fighting anyone who got near Aldrianda and the tent.

Al'Quil roared out a battlecry and charged against the tent. He pushed one button on the black box, and suddenly he was covered in Black armor. A big hammer with a chain attached on it shot out of a opening in the box.
Al'Quil grabbed the hammer and attached it to the right arm of his armour.
The box closed.
Al'Quil now held his Axe in his left arm and the hammer in his right.

As soon as he got close enough, Al'Quil hurled the hammer after the nearest enemy, who he hit in the head. The man fell down on the ground lifeless.
Al'Quil shouted "What the hell is going on here? And where is the mages?!"
Golaw replied with short sentences from time to time "We're under attack!.... They are inside!.... Casting spell... to banish tsunami... to another world!"
Al'Quil thought inside himself "I see." While he fought.

"By the looks of it, the enemies had to be escaped slaves. They where dressed in rags, few of them had weapons, and many of them where half-men. They had probally attack because they wanted the tent and wanted our-not-exsisting-supplies. And by the way many of them approach Elice, they also want to pleasure themself." Al'Quil thought.

The battle went on for a long time, night fell over them and Al'Quil was getting tired. He could not keep up much longer, and neither could the others.
The Slaves pushed onwards and onwards. Some of them were fighting between themselves.
For all her effort, Aldrianda was no longer able to keep the slaves away from Elice, and she dissapered in the crowd.
By now all seemed to be lost, even if the mages finished up they would be to tired to give any help. Right then, a fireball came from the air and shoot down amongst the slaves.
The slaves stopped. Some panicked and ran, others looked around. Al'Quil behind himself. There, on the hill, was Karl(a). (S)he must have been the one to shoot the fireball.
Karl(a) shot another fireball at the slaves, who ran away only from seing her waving her hand. The slaves had scattered and the battle ended.

Karl(a) started making her way to the tent while Aldrianda ran to Elice. Al'Quil slowly started walking towards Elice.
When he got closer he could see that Elice was burning. Aldrianda had started crying and looked at Al'Quil and said in sorrow "She is dead Al. Dead! Ohh why couldn't we save her?"
Al'Quil said nothing, but turned to the tent and saw Shandrina, Boris and Hans come out of it. Their faces showed sorrow.
Al'Quil, who got curious, started running towards the tent.

Reaching the tent, Al'Quil saw Boris looking up to him and say "I am sorry to have to say this but, it your friend and companion, Richard, is dead. And arrow flew into the tent and hit him in the head."
Al'Quil nodded silently and looked at his half-elf cousin she would not like this. He then looked back and said "And the tsunami?"
Boris' face then lightned up and he replied "It has been taken care of."

Elsewhere, in another dimension.

The world's name is Earth. The year is 2004 and a portal opened up in the pasific ocean, and a giantic tsunami came out of it before the portal closed. Creating a earthquake.

It was around 4am when Chou opened the windows letting in the southern air. It smelt different. There wasn't a trace of sulfur or phosphorus. Black powder was completely absent and neither was the annoying sting of burning ammonia. He stretched his arms and smiled at the purple horizon. His eyes hovered over the silent plains of Agliath, the pointed roofs where bluebirds perched instead of lightning bolts, the clear streams passing through the farms where the trees grow real fruits instead of rotting murk, and most of all, what really took his interest was the various species of avians just like those he had read about in the book from the library.

"They are real...."

"Killing the queen could lead to Agliath turning into another Molochan." Chou thought.

But he could never allow anything bad to happen to the countess Gonads whom, despiter her coldness, have been a mother figure to all the assassins of the Otono. Of course the assassins do not know parentship by right or by essence but still react this way by instinct. They were raised to be loyal to the countess through some extensive psychological conditioning.

Chou looked at the sleeping women whom he had shared last night's bed with. Beetle was up early and was gone. He checked the barrels. One was hardly consumed while the other two were completely untouched. They were for Roland afterall but the centaur doesn't seem to trust the two of them. Not yet.

Chou left three gold coins for the women and jumped out the window. He brought a pouch of brightly colored pellets to feed the birds. The sun was up when he saw Roland walking towards him.

"Hope you had a nice rest, im sorry about the beer, il have it stashed at the bank, im going to be off to see what "Job" the queen has in store for "those who are yet to have been employed", if youd like to come your welcome, its a free country after all" said Roland chuckling as he entered to see another round of disheveled ex-slaves siting in silence.

He walked up the stairs with relative ease(its harder to got down the stairs) and went to the room.

Beetle was smothered in beautiful, naked women.

Roland rolled the three barrels out of the room and down the stairs and finally into the street.

The wealthy nobles were once again strutting, with servants on their arms and mingling with the crowd of castle personnel.

The nearest bank was on a down slope so Roland barely had too roll the barrels.

They thudded loudly againts the wall of the bank and a thin, flustered boy of about 17 exited, still holding a quill and paper.

"Whats all this noise, i nearly spilled all my ink on a report for the... Roland! Oh my goodness, why do you always have to make such a fuss when you come in, its like you bring an earthquake with you wherever you go!" said the boy who talked very fast, much like bird that chirped on the wall all day long.

The boy wore a fancy hat with an eagle feather stuck into it, a red leather vest with gold buttons accompanied by a pair of green pants.

"What is it now, i suppose its another relic from your adventures!" said the boy walking back in, trying to write on the peace of paper in mid air.

"As a matter of fact i do have another relic, i trust you still have your delivery boys in tow?" asked Roland, once again rolling the barrels one by one to the wooden counter.

"Of course we still do, theyre still busy delivering the rest of your treasures, i mean really, all the way to the Catman isles, i have three of them in shock from delivering a few packages to the half-lings, its nearly got me in shock, really, the half-lings!"
said the boy as he scribbled away on several stacks of paper on his desk.

"Hah, Jeremy(i think its the name best suited for him) you dont know the half-lings half as well as i do, you dont mess with them. On another note, i need to store this beer in my vault, and" said Roland pulling a small miniature trident from one of the pockets in his jacket "I got this especially for you, trident pen, real thunder bolts included" said Roland pointing the end of the trident at Jeremy's current quil, a small lightning bolt shot out of the end, turning the quill into ash.

In reality the trident was for a wealthy sailor that loved the sea, but as it turns out he had been caught raiding one of the counteses ships and was never seen again.

Roland puled a piece of paper to show of the pen.

"Thank you Roland, this is the best gift ive ever gotten!" said an astonished Jeremy who took the pen in his hands like it was a diamond bigger than his head.

"Dont mention it, show me to your vaults." said Roland who was taken down a spiral staircase.

There was a door on each side, one leading into a different storage room.

When he was finally at the last level, he took out a key and unlocked the door.

There were thousands, upon thousands of items stored, miniature nutcrackers, bags full of roasted nuts, wands, carpets, a peace of bark with runes carved into it, the fangs of dogs hung into a necklace, an Hourglass that had gems instead of sand.

You could practically find anything there, they were all meant to be delivered to someone.

Roland lay a jar that had sand in it, which swirled and swirled like an endless sand storm.

He put the barrels straight and wrote on a peace of paper.

"Deliver to Rugolth, Dwarf Lord of the mountains telling him that this is a sample of the drink in Agligath."

and stuck it on the barrel.

He walked back up and heard Jeremy muter.

"More Car(Cash Around Roland)..."

He smiled and trotted up to the castle, to find out what the queen had in store for him.

Chou finds Beetle smothered in beautiful women. Beetle asks the ladies to move along as Chou walks into the room.

"What have you got?"

"Alright, Chou! You wouldn't believe how much The Lady loves us. I was down the alley at about three, when I chanced upon this street rat. As you know, street rats don't walk around armed with a shooter, especially those made of silver. It has to be something eh? So I followed along, saw something that wasn't for me, fired a few shots and I got this."

Beetle hands a small book to Chou.

"Wait, a shooter? Only molochans carry shooters."

"I know, he must have stolen it from some wandering dolt. But if he can steal from an assassin he must be packing something bigger. And what I have witnessed isn't exactly a romantic ren-day-voo... Gah, Just look at it!"

"It's the queen's command list. It has all her movements for the next two weeks. What is it doing in the alley?"

"Could be the handiwork of rebels, spies or maybe some transgressive band of bards. But who cares? Our lives just got easier."

Chou browses through the queen's command list and stops at a certain page that made his eyes assume the shape and size of an overgrown onion.

"Three days from now, there will be a tournament in the palace. The queen will oversee it herself. What do you think?"

"There better be no rules. I don't fight fair."

"Great, we need one more, a team must include three to be accepted in. What about Roland, he looks tough."

"Tough on beer but he moves like a donkey to me."

"Don't be such a fuddydaddy, we'll ask Roland. See this?"

Chou shows Beetle a set of words on the book. Beetle's lips tear asunder exposing a set of little teeth protruding from bloated gums.

"The Lady loves us. What did I tell you?"

"Pure love," Chou presses the book on Beetle's chest.

The two assassins went to see Roland who went to the bank.

Ethan rose from his night of sporadic sleep. He joined the others around the morning fire, just sitting, eating, and saying nothing at all. He just looked around the area, taking in all he could see. If a leaf moved, he made sure to see what was behind it.

Once he was done, and sure nothing was in the area, he got up, and moved to the slaver camp. There, he did, essentially, the same thing, checking everything around that area. Nothing he could see was really wrong. Satisfied enough, he walked around the area some more, trying to find a place of ease and silence.

Robert woke up to a cheery tune. His mind was rather clear, despite the dreams he had. He had his sense of purpose back and if he were to make anything of his life, he'd have to be up and walking again, so he could go to the armaments and reshape the world to his liking with them. He realised that this view may be a bit extreme or megalomaniac, but he'd be sure to change a lot of things should he have that power.

His first step zould be to get up again. Easier said than done, he thought ironically. He planted his feet on the ground, in order to get up. He had to get up, now, he knew it, but he didn't dare budge, the pain vivid in his memory. He placed his right hand on his knee. 'You're procrastinating' he thought to himself. 'Shut up.' he answered back, but he knew he was just delaying and strained himself. He got up slowly, with a slight sting in his left shoulder, but nothing really to get worked up about. Robert suppressed his desire to laugh out loud at the stupid things he kept considering. Instead of contemplating all that he turned to the cheery tune. "Excellent playing, Jeremy!" he said, trying to sound optimistic, happy and friendly, but didn't quite succeed in doing that.
