"This indeed is an amazing map, but I don't think that this is a good place to discuss it," Jeremy said after Robert handed the map back. "Let us go to the tavern of the Rabid Bear."

At the tavern of the Rabid Bear, wich was full of bear pelts that were brought there by the tavernkeeper who used to be a great hunter in his younger days, Jeremy sat down with the trhee of his companions (for some reason Shariya had not yet parted ways with them). Jeremy said to his trhee companions: "This map is a map of the 'unexplored' northern wastelands where the mountain that Barry hid his treasure in is said to be... I have not thought much of how to travel there, but I darn shure was thinking of going there. Robert already agreed to come with me, but will either of the two of you come with us as well? You don't have to answer now for I will be doing some business around the city and I believe that Robert has to do something as well. You do know where to find me."

As Jeremy finished his speech the tavern door opened and a man came in and rage came up on Shalan's face when he saw that man.

It was one of the slave-keepers from the mine. My body shock of rage and I think the imprresion on my face must have been horrible.
He sat down at a table with another man, he welcomed him and they started to talk.
"So, it was a long time ago John" the man said "What news do you hhave from the mines?"
"Well" started John "There was a collapse a couple of days ago, and several of our workers was killed."
"Workers?" the man sad "Do they get paid?"
"No, not at all" laughed John "But the boss was really angry with so many man and half-blood scum killed, but he was his old self when the shipment with new slaves came"
"I can understand that John, and any other news"
"Well there were an uproar before a left, some redtail lizard whose son has been killed had gather some other slaves and attacked the boss lodge"
"And how did that go then?" asked the man with renewed interest.
"Well what do you think, every slave died." said John with an easy voice. "The boss was angry of course as among the slaves laid his right hand Sanrech. I don't mind though as I hated the bastard."

After the news that my father had died I became emty inside, I saw that the other had become quiet, everyone of them has heard the men talking, even Robert seemed disturbed.

Jeremy was walking down the path to the magic library where he had been working with a scholar for a few days to translate the map of the northern wastelands, Jeremy also has been planning the travelling route. The necromancer Keltrhaias had not appeared to Jeremy for some time and Jeremy had not been in contact with Shalan, Robert and Shariya after they parted ways in the Tavern of the Rabid Bear, but they did agree on a new meeting in a couple of days.

Jeremy was thinking of many things at the moment, but then he arrived at the library and resumed the translating with the scholar, hoping that he doesn't leak any information of the map, for that might cause trouble...

Over time, my snake companion started to act more snake-like. I now let her roam around freely, and she doesn’t try to escape. We have now become friends.

Wandering throughout nature has been fun and all, but I decide it would be even more fun to go to a place I’ve been to a lesser amount. A city, with people in it would be good. Perhaps doing something entertaining within that city would be of some enjoyment. The more I think on it, the more I want to go. I call for the snake which still has yet to be named, and we head in the direction of the closest city that I can remember.

Walking along, I stop to collect some berries, and something to eat for that portion of the day. The fact that there is another city nearby doesn’t matter to me. City food, or food from nature, I am fine with either. But since I’m within nature, I may as well go with it. I fix my meal, and put the berries away for later.

I continue on, and eventually get to the city. Shifting form to something I can get into trouble with, if I should choose, I walk in, watching the buildings around, trying to see if I could memorize all the alleyways, just in case I need them.

I wander into a weapon shop, after deciding that a nice staff would suit me. I find a nice basic looking one, and move over to look at some armor. The shop owner watches me, as I have now carry some of his property, but still watches the others as he feels he has time. Without moving or speaking a word, I just look at the suit of armor in front of me. Suddenly, I shout.

“This man’s armor is infested with spiders!”

A swarm of spiders comes crawling out of the suit. The other customers start to flee, fearing the spiders. I act as they do, though making sure I keep the staff in hand. I run out of the shop, going as the crowd did, splitting off in my own direction.

I hate slave traders. People aren't meant to be... caged... That was my thoughts when I travelled north, but every civilisation seemed to think otherwise. It doesn't matter, anyway, I had my freedom and my means of staying alive. I glanced at Shalan and saw something so subtle and wrong in his eyes. Somehow, I was moved by the freak and sympathised for whatvere encounter he had against these bastards. I took the flagon from my sash and gave it to the lizard: "Whatever you do, always press your advantages."

I left the tavern without looking back for one second. When I passed the monk, I spoke: "The gathering happens at the northern gate of Agliath." And with these words I left the tavern and entered the bustling city of Agliad. It was full of rich traders, beggars and commoners. I decided to enter "The Shot". It was only a few hundred yards away, when, suddenly, a frail figure with fiery hair bumped into me and ran. 'Tsss, weirdo', I thought, but when I grasped at my pocket I realised something. I've just been pickpocketed. Aside from the fact that my pride just got kicked in the royal albert hall, I wouldn't be able to fetch  a meal, now. I immediately gave chase, before the redhead drew too much distance between me and him.

The thief was nimble, fast and knew his way around here. I ran faster, but the crowd seemed to work against me. In the end, I started pushing aside some blokes. The chase seemed endless, until I stopped in a dead end alley... There was noone, here. How could I have missed him? I waited, until I could get my mid straight. I'm sure I saw him run into this alley.

I heard a small crisp... The sound of gravel...

I then turned around and saw the figure running out of one of the wooden shelters placed to the buildings. I threw one of my knives, but missed. I again started running.

This guy was good, but noone steals from a rogue and definitely not from Robert The Sly, damn it! We were running in the downtown areas, now. He dove into another back alley and that's were I managed to catch up. I flung a second daggger at the thief and pinned him down. His sleeve got stuck in the wall. I came closer, slowly, trying to catch my breath. He struggled to get free as I drew closer, but thieves don't have a lot of physical strength. I grabbed his arm and pulled the culprit towards me, pulling back his hood to see who did this to me. As soon as I realised that it wasn't a man and that I met her before, I was overcome by feelings of joy, shock and, somehow, irritation. Her eyes widened as well. "Robber?" she whispered. I sighed and answered: "Aye, that would be me, Care Care."

Thieves never use eachother's real names. We never knew them, anyways. I did know Care Care, though. We looked at each other and, before I knew it, I received a blow to my head. Care was a feisty one. "You left me at Bale's!" She shouted. "I thought you'd be safe there." I said in my defense. "No, you just wanted to abandon me" she pouted. "No such thing, you know I care for you." I quickly said. She punched me, again. You could say many things about Care, but she knew how to pack a punch. It made me a bit proud...

Anyways, "I would like it, if you gave back my satchel you just cut." I said carefully to the slender girl from the south. She pouted and reluctantly gave me back the money. "How did you get here, anyways?" I then asked. People from the south don't go north and I abandoned her deep south. She shrugged and finally wrested herself free from the dagger. She quipped my dagger and before I could say anything, shepointed towards a building on the corner. "The guildsmen are waiting for you in there." She said. I looked at it and nodded. She jumped right in front of me: "and this time, you won't get rid of me that easily, I learned a few tricks while I was gone." I didn't mind her companionship, so I let her tag along for now, and turned to the guild quarters.

It was such a long time ago...

The northern thieves guild was not so different from the southern ones. There was always a gambler, a fence and a shady guy. the atmosphere was always quiet in the morning, peaceful, actually. "So... How did you get, here?" I said, while trying to make conversation with Care. She shrugged and mumbled: "job..." I raised my eyebrow to that response. "From the raiding deserts and the lizard people to the rowdy Northerners? You'd best get paid quite a lot." I contnued. She grinned and turnedand said with a big smile: "In this room, now, please." I entered the room.

There was a long shady figure inside. "Robber..." He grumbled. "Don't call me that!" I said. He sighed and smiled. "Very well, Sly, where are you headed?" He then said. I was a bit taken aback by this. "Away, the elven lands were not mine to stay in, nor the human ones. I am travelling to the only place I belong, among the rejects." I said. The dark man laughed and sneered: "no way that Robert is so ashamed that he chooses to run away from his former life. Anyways, it's not my concern. I see an apprentice of mine, dressed as a beggar, so I have a job for you." "Pride? Tsss, you're becoming too old for this, Limp." I said. The man waves his hand and says: "Whatever makes you happy. I want you to go to the mayor's house. Bring Care with you. Once you return me the Mayor's modest taxation demands, I will get you back to what you used to be, a thief, not some begging footpad." Those last words stung like a knife in his stomach. Robert valued freedom and no attachments. But something inside him wanted him to be rich and powerful...

Robert nodded. He didn't want to talk to Limp anymore, so he left. Care followed him. They kept quiet. "So, do you have a plan, Robber?" she said after a while. I nodded and said: "We wait till nightfall. The cover of darkness will protect us, while the guardsmen sleep." Care leaned on his shoulder. She was just a kid, of course, easily tired. "Let's rest, before dusk. I don't feel like having to wake you up all the time." I grunted, so we stayed in the guild quarters. I sighed as I waited for the night. Running away from my problems never seemed to work, even when you run to the very end of the Earth. I wondered how the lizard was doing. I smiled at the thought of him being a swordfighter. I had trained someone. It was a strange and fascinating thought.

I did this mostly out of self-interest, so it went quite naturally. He must learn it himself I figured, because I am just a light weapon fighter. I couldn't fully teach him to use his brute force in combat... I taught him to keep balance, to block and a few attack patterns. He would surely come in handy during our travels. He certainly would...

"Thank you for all of your help and farewell," Jeremy said to the scholar he was working with to translate the map and then started walking away from the library. The moon was in the sky like a sickle made of silver and Jeremy was well on his way to the Tavern of the rabid bear where he had a room reserved untill the day when he is supposed to meet up with Shalan, Shariya and Robert again.

In his small room in the tavern Jeremy was lying on his bed thinking about the route for going to the mountains of the northern wastelands, but his mind couldn't help wandering... "Greetings, it has been a while," said a familiar, cold and lifeless voice wich was answered with a "GAAAHHH!" from Jeremy who had almost forgot about the necromancer lord, Kelthraias. "You will have to keep your guard up more than that, especially now since you are not shure of how many people know of your map and I can tell that people would be taking rather drastic measures to get their hands on such a precious map." Said Keltrhaias and Jeremy just listened as Kelthraias continued with: "I wouldn't want you to go on doing my bidding with you being so careless and practically defenseless so I have decided to give you a little gift to help you on your way... When you wake up there will be a delivery for you and you will be another step closer to becoming my Herald of Death."

Jeremy opened his eyes and looked around his room where sunlight was coming from the windows and no sign of the necromancer... "Another Dream?" Jeremy thought. Once Jeremy had dressed up and checked all his belongings, Jeremy went downstairs when a cloacked man came to him and said: "Delivery to you sir from Lord Nicholas Edmund Cromancer" The cloacked man handed Jeremy a small box and a letter saying:

"The box will open itself when it is ready. Don't try opening it by yourself.

Lord N. E. Cromancer
"

"What a very useful little box indeed," said Jeremy sarcastically as he put the box into his pocket and decided to just get a sword instead.

Shariya is standing outside the library. She has been shadowing Jeremy since the meeting in the rabid bear. The toneless had been working around the clock trying to decipher the document. The bard had contacted a scholar to help him in the translation when he realised that it would take him forever to translate it alone. Even now the work seemed to be running in place. But Shariya had time to wait. Afterall time was among the things she didn't lack.
Is that Robert? Where is he racing? Oh he is giving chase to that redhead. Wonder who she is?

The scholar jumps up.
"BY AZUTH! How could I've been so blind? The answer has been right in front of us the whole time!", Jeremy pulls the scholar down and whispers something to him. They keep talking for a few hours before Jeremy gives the man a small bag, takes the map and leaves.

I wait for the bard to disappear behind the cornerbefore I emerge from the shadows and enter the library. The scholar is the last one still working for this night. He's facing the other side of the room so he doesn't see me enter. He's drawing something. I wait for him to finish it before I approach him. It's the map! The scholar had drawn it from memory!
I pull the man up and sink my teeth deep into his neck. Once again I feel the sweet nectar of life filling my mouth. The man tries to sturggle free but his strenght diminishes quickly. I can feel the scholar's efforts to break free diminishing as I gulp down more and more of his blood with lust. Soon he falls lifeless on my arms as I keep drinking and drinking in ecstacy. When he's finally dry I let his body fall down and lick the last drops of the bloody delicacy from my lips.
When I regain some of my senses I go through the scholar's papers, take the map and a few interesting pergaments. I gather the rest of the papers beside a book shelf and throw an oil lamp to the pile before leaving.

Care woke up with a great noise. She looked up and saw a man covered in armor... Guard armor! She rolled up and drew a short sword, ready to defend herself. "Relax!" she heard underneath the helmet, "it's me." I said. I had retrieved some guard armor so we can venture inside the palace unnoticed. care got up, quickly and put on the armor. Luckily, it seemed to fit. We laughed at the silly way we looked and the clumsy way we moved. We got out of the guild and went onwards to the mayor's house. After we got a bit used to the sways of the heavy armour, we walked and talked (or at least tried to) like normal guardsmen. I had carefully taken note when the guard would change, so that we'd be able to stand at the front door without casting any suspicion on us.

We walked to the front door where a guard was placed, a quarter of an hour before the official change of the guard. "You're awfully early today." The captain grunted. "Well, we were close by, so we figured it'd be better if we already took your place." I said. The captain seemed to doubt. Luckily, Care care anticipated something and walked in on the man, saying in a hushed voice: "They know!" The man's face turned into a panicked fright and he ran, saying: "Oh, dear God!!!" We looked at him and took normal positions. "What was that about?" I asked, after a short while. She shrugged "everyone has secrets." I fully agreed with that last statement. Five minutes before the real guards were about to arrive, we removed our armor and went inside. The lock which kept the house shut was easily picked by me.

As the door went open with well oiled hinges, we snuck inside the dark mansion. The mayor's house was big, filled with paintings and armor sets. Care behaved quite professionally, here...
A lot more than the last time they worked together. We muffled our footsteps and stuck to the shadows of the seemingly empty house. This went quite easy...

Suddenly, there was a stir in the hallway beyond. There were actually people INSIDE the house as well. "... So I hit 'm in da Royal albert hall!" "Pfff... yeah right, last night you cowered before that big orc bouncer!" "I... That was entirely different! I didn't..." the voices muffled as the guards went through the corridor. Obviously, these guys weren't professionals, but still, guys in heavy armor are dangerous, no matter how unprofessional they are. We went to the narrow corridor were the guards just went through. We decided it'd be safer to go in the opposite direction. These halls were a bit more sober, only decorated with the occasional plant or painting. Finally we got into a big room, filled with closets, chests and cabinets. This must've been the room were they kept the records and taxes of the city...

A grin went across our faces. There were a lot of riches in here. "So... What do we take?" I asked Care. "The master said that an ebony chest contains what we want. He said that the chest was new, so is still unchecked." Care said. I nodded and looked for a black-looking chest in the vicinity. Care took one of the few lit torches, hanging on the wall and brought them close by. Thanks to her, we could see it immediately. We approached the chest and, while I checked the chest, Care glanced around. She seemed so lost in all this glitter... Time to have poetic nancy talk later. Now is the time for acting. I finally was able to open the lock. I carefully opened the chest and saw two things. One was the bag of cash hidden in the chest and the other was a small not which said who had already paid what and such. I pondered whether we should take the note as well, when I suddenly heard a noise from the other side of the corridor. "THAT wench, yeah, 'course, wonder that her father doesn't know.!" "HAhahaha, you pig!" "I ain't the only one who..." We didn't have time to listen any longer to this chat.

We had to get out. Care almost panicked when she noticed the torch still alit in her hand. We scanned for an exit and, luckily, we saw one at the other end of the room. A second corridor! When I moved to point towards it, the lid fell of the chest and the loud clash of the ebony wood against the floor alarmed the guards. "****!" I hissed. We ran to the remaining safe corridor. "What the hell is-?" But before one of the guards could finish his sentence someone ran onto the room. "THE LIBRARY IS ABLAZE! ALL GUARDSMEN HELP AND DOUSE THE FLAMES BEFORE THEY REACH THE OTHER BUILDINGS!!!" he shouted. Panick echoed throughout this man's voice. The guardsmen rushed away, while Care and I were huddled into a corner. We sat there for a few minutes, until we were sure it was safe. The corridor was just some closet space we realised when I literally had run into the dark-painted wall.

After we got out of the corner, Care started shaking with laughter. "Just when I started to think you were a pro!" I sighed. care was clearly taken aback by this comment. "I am SO a pro! Without me you still would've been looking for that chest!" She said. "True... And without you we wouldn't've been this close to've been caught. In fact, if something so utterly random and funny as a burning building wouldn't have happened, we would've been caught." I ranted. She kept quiet for a while. I held her for a few seconds: "Don't worry, kiddo, you still have time to learn." She laughed at the overly dramatical way I said it. "What would've caused the fire?" She then spoke to herself. "I don't know." I sighed, but I did knew who went to see that place today. Was one of my comrades responsible?

We got back to the guild quarters, at the start of the first hour. Limp was there, too, bossing around the people for some reason. When he saw us, the room was a bit quiet and he ordered everyone away. The room was quiet. "Does one of you happen to have something to do with the fire?" He asked in a soothing voice. Care shook her head and replied: "NO! We were in the mayor's mansion when it happened." Limp nodded and smiled and added: "goood. Nothing to worry about, then." I didn't care about small talk. I had slept only 2 hours in 2 days, so I was a bit too tired for things. I dropped the bag filled with coins and the payment scroll on the table.

"That's brilliant!", Limp shouted, "I knew you could do it." I smiled at the praise. "And... the reward?" I asked. "'Course 'Course, here, I have something for you two." he said and he moved to the back of the room. he got back with four things. Two cloaks, a rapier and a satchel of gold. "To our good friend Robber, we give him a sword, so he can defend himself when he finds himself in trouble again. We also lend him our cloak of shadows which allows him to hide himself from danger." He said in a ceremonial tone. He then turned to Care. he spoke in a more confident tone of voice: "To our beloved care, we give a cloak so she can hide herself from her stalkers. And a little satchel of Gold, because-" "-A girl could always some shinies." She interrupted. Limp could not help but laugh. This was life in it's fullest.

Care looked at me and slowly came closer. "So... What we're going to do next, Robber?" She said shyly. I smiled and said: "get some rest." Care nodded and we went to the sleeping quarters. Care already went to sleep, while I prepared to dose off as well. While I tried to loosen my boots, I studied the way she was lying down and how she looked so fragile. Care had a lot of spark and was feisty, but I could not let her come with me. My destiny is, was and will always be alone. I looked at my outfit. Why would she want to follow me, anyways? No, she would have to make her own way. I put my cloak back on and ventured downstairs. I looked at the tanner and gave him my last gold pieces. He gave me a few wraps of leather. I strapped those on, and I gave my last pieces of silver. the tanner gave some fur clothes as well. Before I left, I put on the fur outfit with leather straps around my joints and sensitive areas. I no longer looked like a beggar. I grabbed my rapier and cloak and left to the northern gate.

This was the second time I left Care Care behind. I hope she finds her own place in the world. I arrived at the northern gate and was happy to see the monk and Jeremy. They hardly recognised me, when I arrived. "What the hell happened to you?" Jeremy said. "Begged  for some more clothes. Ask and you shall receive." I added. "Where the hell is Shalan, actually?"

The sound and smell of a burning building fills the air. A glow can be seen over the roof-tops. After some time, another building lights up. Explosions are heard with this one. Chemicals shoot into the sky, and burn out before they even reach their peak.

Within the next minute, I come running down the town streets, a few men, and even a dog, running about fifty yards behind. I eventually notice the town gate has a small group of people in the way of my retreat. Not that it even matters. I run up next to them, and stop, turning around as quickly as I can, getting ready to cast a spell as soon as I see fit to do so. I give the small group a glance, making sure they do nothing I don’t care for, and then refocus on the men coming after me.

As the men get close enough, I begin casting my spell. At its completion, a wall of blades comes into being, around five feet in front of me. The men do their best to stop, but the dog just jumps at me. Luckily for the dog, one of the men is close enough to grab it, mid-flight. I laugh at them all, and turn, facing the group once again. I say nothing, just grinning for quite a few seconds.

“Time for flight!”

I kneel down on the ground, turned away as if I have a stomach cramp. I shift into my normal form, then into a bird, flying away with a snake in my talons.

If anyone chooses to even watch, I clearly land on a tree-branch. The limb lowers down because of added weight soon after.

I sat there at the tavern for, I don't know how long, now and then drinking a little of Robert's wine. I did'nt like wine really, the first time I drunk it, it tasted really bad, and it did'nt taste any better now.

After a while  it felt better, or not better, I wase'nt as sad anymore, I thought that it was time to get on with my life, and someday, someday, clear that mine. I called the innkeeper to the now emty table, I asked him, "Could you please tell me were I can find the most honest jewellery store." I had enough of dishonesty and I just wanted somewhere were I could sell the rock which had stuck in my leg. "Well, if it's honesty you're after, then you should try old Jim's, even if I don't think you could have anything he's interested in."
"Just tell me how i get there."
"Ok" he answered "This is how you must walk....."

After a short walk I stood outside a little shop in the end of a alley, I knocked the door, a little man, bent with age came at me.
"Well youngster what do you want then."
"Well" I said "I would like to have a value of this." I countinued when I put the lump of solid gold on his working bench. I saw his yaw drop as he looked at the gold.
"Were did you get this son?"
"Let's just say I found it, it's not stolen and is rightfully mine."
I even belived that myself, for the years of suffering and the loss of all my old friends and my father this was but a little of the dept to Matwe.
"Well son he said, I don't got much but let's see what we got for you."

Two hours later I left the shop, with new reinforced clothes,  a sharpened sword and a little hidden purse filled with coins. Also I had the old mans promise that I could stay at his grandson's inn over the night.

I woke later that night becoise of an alarming shout screaming.
"The city is on fire." Apperently a building had started burning and the fire had spread. I decided to leave the city.
When I arrived at the town gate I was pleasantly suprised to see that all three of my former companions was there. When I arrived I heard Robert say.
"And there he are."

With his new sword on his waist and a few quick basics in his head and a brown cloack on his back, Jeremy the Toneless stood as tall as he could at the northern gate of Agliath, the capital city of the human empire, along with his three companions: Robert, Shalan and Shariya who were asking Jeremy what is his plan on travelling to the north and Jeremy answered thusly: "A wise person once said: 'those who plan too much can't improvise'."

an Akward silence followed that statement...

"... What?!?! You mean you don't have a plan!?" "No, no, no! Of course I do have a plan, but its just not quite complete... What I have planned for now is that we are to go north trhough the hills and plains untill we arrive at Athkoln, a small village near the mountain pass to the Orcish lands. From Athkoln we keep going north along the mountains, not the pass. We'll have to watch out for orcs out there and I hear that there are some caves where trolls have gathered some treasure. We should eventually arrive at the city of Athkathla and by then I'd expect my plan to be complete..."

After another akward silence Robert said: "Lets get going then," and so they did...

"So these are the brave adventurers who wish to see me?" Lady Lakely said.

She was a middle aged human woman, but behind her wrinkely face shone a youthfull and almost unnatural-looking radiance.
I stepped forward
"Mylady," I said "I and my companion have come to Clearwater in search of an ancestor of mine."
"An Ancestor of yours?" the Lady said quizzically. "The last Elf visit to this village was more than fivehundred years ago. Surely you aren't that old?"
-"No Mylady, I'm searching a human Ancestor." I swallowed "My father."
"Aaah...!"
The Lady let out a compassionate sigh.
"I understand. You mean Lord Alexander?"
-"I don't know, Mylady, I only know his surname."
Lady Lakely smiled.
"Many of this house carry the name Lakely... but only one was once engaged to an Elven woman. You must mean Lord Alexander. How was he connected to you?"
"He was my father, Mylady."
The Lady looked extremely surprised
"You father?" She quickly overcame her shock "That makes you My late Husband's great Uncle. Welcome to the family...eh... What's you name again?"
"Boris. Boris Lakely, Madame"
-"Nice to meet you, Great Uncle, would you care from some Carrotale?"
"No thanks. Can I meet my other family members?"
The Lady's cheer faltered and she now looked harsh, even a bit tormented. She sat down on a heavily-ornamented chair and emitted a deep sigh.
"That will be a problem, Great Uncle Boris. All of the familiy either has dissapeared or died"
"What?"
"Yes. Your Grandfather, Lord Boris (you were undoubably named after him) seached for the Lost Arnament of Barry the Combat Defender, whom he believed to be a descendant of. While searching for the Lost Arnaments he somehow managed to disturb the Goddess of Health and Order, Danpora. She Cursed Lord Boris and the whole family. They would only be saved if a blood-relative of Lord Boris would find the Arnaments and offer them to Danpora."
She sighed again.
"All of Lord Boris' Descendant's mysteriously died, except you father, Lord Alexander, who fathered two official children. Lord Walter with his wife and you with an Elven Sorceress. Lord Alexander then began searching for the Arnaments, but vanished. His body was never found, and his son and heir, Lord Walter died at the age  of 26, due to a mysterious disease. He had one Daughter who inherited Clearwater: Maline. Lady Maline never desired to search for the arnaments, but her sons did. Lord Alexander II, my husband and Lord Frederick both vanished while searching for them. My husbands body was discovered a few weeks after his dissapppearence, while Frederick's, like Lord Alexander I's, never was to be found. I have three children, born to Lord Alexander II: Irina, who is now the wife of the Duke of Agliad, Oswald who was struck by lightning at the age of 10 and Jeremy, who has departed insearch of the Arnaments. I still had contact with him, untill he reached Algiad. he was supposed to visit my daughter Irina, but according to her, he never arrived."
She sighed again and looked at me.
"It seems you are the last hope that's left, Great Uncle."
I swallowed. I knew that the only way to know my family's fate was to search for those arnaments and  release them from the curse.
"I know what to do, Mylady. Hans, Grim, we're off!"

The Lady nodded understandingly and said: "Good luck, my brave adventurers!"

"Mahsta, Burris, Ai ahm soo hongry, Ai kood eet a whoole awx!. Cahnt wee jast stap an' eet?" Grim said as soon as we left the Keep.
"Ah, well it's not wise to qadventure with an empty stomache. We'll try the village's inn."

The inn was an increadably filthy and crowded place and reminded me of the Athakathla Thieve's guild. We luckily found a table were to we could sit. None of us spotted the red-robed wizard who watched us with great care...

Karl had a hard time later that day. He lost sight of "Masta' Burris" and his shorter friends and had slight chances to find them. The only lead he had was more than bewildering. ~Dee laddie bathing in mink?!~ He knew it had something of truth somewhere very very deep in it, but he wasn't such a pearl-diver. ~Dee is most probably  meant to be "the", right...~ He sighed as this was the only thing he could state more or less sure and it wasn't a big deal to know. After several rounds around the same pathetic inn he realized his thirst and entered. He has just finished drinking when three funny figures entered the inn and one of them ordered with a horrible accent. "So Mister Boris your majesty, our ways cross each other once more. What a strange coincidence. Pity that I don't believe in coincidences..." He said to himself in a low whisper. A childish idea ran into him and he found it too amusing to keep himself.
The next few minutes he moved one finger in odd patterns as if imitating a sword fight or conducting a choir from time to time. Not only that: from time to time, stuff on Boris' table acted in strange ways. Once a spoon full of hot turnip-soup decided to continue its way up in the air rather than stop at the halfling's mouth. It stopped about one inch above him then fell back. An other time knifes kept turning upside-down in their [the three of them] hands every time they wanted to cut with it. But after a few tricks and several swears Karl got bored with the immature fun and wanted to finally draw the attention of Boris to himself. He suddenly had a surprising idea how to manage it.
He stood up and walked to the barman. "Give that half-elf a bottle of your finest wine." He paid the wine and wondered about how odd it is to draw attention this way. The barman put the dusty bottle on Boris' table and pointed at Karl with his thumb then went back to his work. Karl made a gentle nod and smiled at Boris but in his eyes there was curiosity and even the shade of lust.

it was interesting to hear jeremy have a plan this time. He was definitely improving, but maybe a bit too much. He took the shortest route, which admittedly saves us two weeks time, but on the other hand is filled with orcish tribes and orcish tribes are the best thing to avoid. Especially, when you're walking around with a beast-man, woman, treasure map and an ornamented sword!

I decided not to ask what his reasons were, until I got rested and could think straight. The memory of Care and the lack of sleep dulled my senses and that's something I couldn't afford to influence me, when talking to our leader. We walked about 500 yards when Shalan suddenly stopped. A deep snarl resounded from his throat.

"What is it, Shalan?" Jeremy enquired. "I... shmell shumshing..." He hissed. "I shmell a shnake." He finally said. "So what?" I said and marched further on, when I suddenly realised what I said. What the hell was a snake doing so far up north? There is no way that a cold-blooded animal could survive on the roof of the world. I pulled a dagger with my left hand and asked: "is there something else?" Shalan hesitated and finally nodded...

A staff drops from a tree. The staff is followed by a snake. Finally, I drop down. Jump down, more like it, though I mess up, hitting my heel on the limb as I come down. Reacting as fast as I can, without time to transform again, I act as though I'm a cat. I get my legs and feet ready, and land on all four. I do what I can to slow myself as best I can. I still hit the ground hard enough to take a bit of damage, but it could've been worse.

I push myself up, and see the people standing near me. I recognize them from earlier, with a lizard man added in to the mix. I knew they were there already, but not who, really. I could hear them from my perch. I, myself, have changed my appearance again. Not that I care too much about it, or them even finding out who I am.

“Heh. You didn’t sound like you were chasing us, so you might be able to remain alive. But you’re together, in a group. Travelers? Adventurers? Circus folk?” I walk around, studying them, a small smile on my face. I don’t seem to be too concerned about where my weapon lies.

What if Elvin was female?

I had arrived at the gate just before Robbert arrived.
Tha man had acquired new clothes, furs and some leather, nothing fancy but more than a beggar could afford. What really striked my eye was the rapier he had. There was no way he could've legally acquired something like that. The man was a thief, quite good propably because the owners of swords like that aren't usually complitely oblivious to the possibility of theft.

A man came running towards us with people at his heels. He conjures up a wall of blades to assure his escape. Soon after he turns to a bird and flies away to a tree. What did he have in his claws? A snake? Which bizarre town have I come to? Ah, Shalan, finally. As he greets us the bard explains us his plan or, to all intents and purposes, his lack of one. Near the Orc tribes and troll caves? Well there goes that pleasant journey.

As we head out I notice Shalan stopping near the tree where the transformer landed. Soon a man drops down after his staff and the snake. Thre's something wrong with the snakes eyes. They have almost human-like gaze.

“Heh. You didn’t sound like you were chasing us, so you might be able to remain alive. But you’re together, in a group. Travelers? Adventurers? Circus folk?”

Might be able to remain alive? Circus folk? Who does this arrogant bastard think he is? I'll flay him alive. A fire sparks in my red eyes making them glow. I quickly flinch. The fire vanishes as quickly as it came.
Not now Shariya! You're a peaceful monk. The others might come in handy during this you don't wanna end up disemboveling them just yet. Although, that filthy slave would just get what's coming to him. I push these thoughts out of my mind and take a curious smile. Stepping forward I adress the man circling us.
"Just travellers, heading to Athkathla. And no, we're not hunting anyone. I quess you were the one to put the city on fire then?"

I look to the vampire woman with my usual grin, and then continue my walk.

“Put the city on fire? No. Can’t say that was me. Though, one of the buildings within? That I did do. If the other buildings were close enough to be set ablaze by the one, and any chain thereafter, so be it. Anyway, that was actually an accident, this time. I just dropped a bottle of some liquid on the ground. When it broke, it set the floor on fire. That would’ve been an easy problem to fix. However, it also burned me. I went to put it out, but knocked over the other containers of the stuff. I had to act quickly there, so I got away from them as fast as I could. The resulting fire was quite fun to watch, but I then had a mob of people after me.”

I stop walking, and pause my talking for a few seconds, then start both back up.

“That was quite fun too, to tell the truth. Lucky for me, I had already studied a lot of that city’s alleyway, and that sort, so I could escape, if needed. Which it wasn’t really needed then, but, as I already said, it was fun.”

I walk over to the tree, sitting at its base. I take the staff across my lap, and allow the snake to do as it pleases.

“So, what is this Athkathla?”

Jeremy, who was very irritated by the young man's attitude, said: "Our journey is none of your business and unless your home is under a rock you should know that Athkathla is a city rather far to the north known for its very colorful population and the fact that it was the capital of the 2nd Kingdom before the unification into the Empire. So would you be so kind and mind your own business so we can mind ours?"

Jeremy knew he had abandonned his manners when talking to this young man, but he was getting tired and young man seemed very arrogant. Jeremy had been very worn out by his planning, his translating, his conversations with the necromancer lord Kelthraias... He really needed some rest...

I stop my thoughts about rocks right there.

“Anyway, I don’t take time to learn the unimportant names of those places. It’s more important to learn where one of them is. You can’t go to a name, but you can go to a place.”

I rise to my feet once more.

“Back to your business, though. I’ve been to that place, or around there, at the very least. Wouldn’t mind going again. I might be willing to help guide you through any shortcuts I possibly know about. It would give us something to do.”
