Hulds jaw dropped in disbelief.

The companion of the lizard and the two men had barely entered the scene and the bear was already at his side as though he had tamed him for years.

Wheat the hell do they study out here!? thought Huld recovering from his shock.

Then the half-ling sagged demoralized and waited to be interrogated again by the brigands

Still a bit startled by the incident with the bear, Jeremy said Ethan with a quite relieved voice: "Great timing. I wouldn't have known what to do if it wasn't for you. Thanks."

As Ethan was petting the bear, Jeremy started to find him alot more tolerable even though he still found him quite irritating.

Quickly remembering what he was supposed to do; Jeremy turned to the tiny man, attempted to look and sound imposing and asked the little person: "Who are you, how the hell did you apparently fall out of nowhere and what purpose do you serve?!"

The manling that was the apparent leader of this group had said at Huld "Who are you, how the hell did you apparently fall out of nowhere and what purpose do you serve?!"

I am really not in the mood to play sharades with these brigands so they might as well rob me of all my possessions thought Huld
He shifted his position and met the manlings eye.

"I am Huld, the Weary, and i was pulled by the monster tornado but i was knocked out of its grip by a piece of furniture" he said tiredly then he added disdainfully "why it had to be marble i dont know."

Then Huld paused. He couldn't tell them that he was a spy sent to explore a new front and examine their habits and map their lands.
He taught hard of what to say to them and he remembered what everyone seemed to be talking about.

Huld sighed and said "I am in search of The Armaments of Gods."

Everyone stared at the half-ling who seemed to have set out on a suicidal journey.

Upon hearing that Robert set out in roaring laughter. It was a real thigh-slammer so to speak. It took him a while to get a hold of himself. " Ha, ha, huh... By the bearded buttocks of the sand gods, man, that's a good one! Seriously, hehe, just... Woosh! Just tell me what you'll decide Jeremy, ha... I'll just... get my equipment out of the cave, before some other horrible thing happens to us." he said snickering. He was shaking while he walked down the cave and accompanied by the rinkling of his rapier.

He would get his shadow outfit. Something that muffles sound and sight would be necessary, since they were getting really close to orcs now...

Huld smiles grimly to himself. As the one called Robert burst into laughter.

Robert went down the cave to get "his" equipment

If thats not stolen from another unlucky soul il eat my socks!
I wonder if one of these will be curious enough to ask why i am searching for them.

"Don't mind him," Jeremy said to the little man named Huld as Robert was going back into the cave grinning and snickering. "We happen to be on the very same quest as you are and we could always use another companion in our journey," said Jeremy with a friendly tone and continued: "The path is long and full of many perils for lonely adventurers, perhaps you might want to join us. What do you say?"

Interesting... perhaps i have not struck the common bandits today.
"Very well, it is not as if i want to journey through orc lands alone."

Huld looked at the meal the bear tamer had procured.

Disgusting! It will rot within the hour

"No, no, no your doing it all wrong! You need to boil some pine tree leaves with that if those are supposed to be rations!" Huld yelled at the man.

"If you stop for an hour i can make you a meal that would make the most spoiled prince satisfied!"

Huld tried to wriggled from his bonds so he could show the man how its done

Shalan shrugged. It seemed the little man was on the same way as them, somehow though he had a feeling that that wasn't all...

He looked up to see that the little halfling-thing had started talking/screaming to Ethan something about the food, seemingly he wanted to have some special ingredient into it. Shalan wasn't interested in any way, his stomach had proved itself several times in the slave-mine, being capable of consume things that his peers wouldn't look twice at. As long as it didn't move it was edible. Ofcourse he had realised that others wasn't so lucky, he let the halfling continue to ramble, if he wanted to mess with a man who had tamed a bear with a touch, it was his choice.

Shalan laid down at the ground, still tense from the short encounter with the bear. He closed his eye and tried to get some rest before the food was ready

Jeremy opened the bonds of the little person and then shouted to everyone: "We should be arriving at Athkoln today if we get going soon enough, so attempt not to take too much time with the food."

With that being said, Jeremy started to look into the horizon; hoping that the hurricane had missed the village of Athkoln.

Ethan sent the bear back into the cave and stood up straight.

"Pine trees, huh? Well, if I remember right, there are some out this way, nearby," he says pointing away from the cave, and slightly to the right. "Though, they may have been moved with those winds last night. Well, come along. You seem to know about cooking well enough, so you can choose what you want yourself. I will stick around, and probably help you. There may be some other things I would like from around there, after all."

Ethan darts off towards a group of pines that may still be there.

Huld was released of his bonds and bowed at the one called Jeremy and followed the bear tamer to where the pine trees ,or whats left of them, should be.

"Speaking of which, what is your name?" Huld said to the bear tamer.
He said that his name was Ethan.

Huld inhaled deeply and could catch the smell of pine.
The smell is to strong for the pine to be unharmed...

As Huld and Ethan reached the location of the pines they saw a couple of footprints and some slashes on the trees.

Blood was splattered over the ground and a man lay pinned to a tree by a spear. His body had been striped of most valuables. Some colorful gems lay scattered leading in the direction of the orc camps.

"Probably orc hunters... This one looks like he would be a bandit... Do you know him?" Huld asked Ethan who seemed to know an awful lot of the north lands.

"Know him? No, we have yet to be introduced to eachother."

Ethan walks over to the man, squatting down.

"Hello. My name is Ethan, and you are?"

He gives the man a few seconds to answer, but there is no response. He turns back to face huld((didn't catch word "fixing" that)) with a smile.

"I think he turned dumb soon after he got put on a stick. Though, speaking of bandits, we have run into some recently. This one could be such; or could have been."

Ethan plants a foot on the chest of the man, then yanks out the spear. Using the same foot, he pushes the man over, onto the ground.

"This could be fun," Ethan says, almost in a daze. He soon snaps out of it, though. "So, to your pines then?"

"Yes your right." Huld said and then snapped a small branch and ripped the small twigs off for keeping.
"Lead the way..."

Ethan walked off and over the small hill that hid the base pine trees.

Huld looked back at body and whispered a few words to the wind of flame to save the body from other savagery. The body was engulfed in a swarm of embers. Huld then walked on and catched up to Ethan.
At least Ethan wont play with whats left of the bandits dignity

It was quite a while ago when Huld and Ethan had come back from the devastated woods and finished their cooking. They had eaten their breakfast and begun to continue their journey towards the first small town that was on their way to the Northern Wastelands.

Even though they had lingered there for only about a day Jeremy felt like they had been stuck in there for months and was glad that they could finally move on.

They were coming to the end of the desolate forest and a view of grassy hills opened before their eyes, but they still had quite a way to go.

It was starting to get quite late in the afternoon when they noticed that there was a thick cloud of smoke rising from the general direction of their destination. This caused a bit of worry for Jeremy, but he hoped that his fears would be proven wrong once they arrived at Athkoln.

A few hours later.

It was getting dark and the now much thinner smoke was rising from just behind the next hill. Jeremy rushed forth to see what had happened. Once he got on the top of the hill he looked around in terror and then collapsed on to his knees in depression. Athkoln had been reduced to a scorched pile of burning ruins; corpses of men, dwarves and orcs littering the roads of the burning village.

Guess Who is Back?
posted March 22, 2009 06:15 PM

"Huh?" Al'Quil asked
"Nothing, just forget what I said." Elise replied.
When they had found her, Elise had atempted to act like a woman in need of help from Boris and the group, but because Al'Quil, Golaw and Shandina was there her act was soon put an end to. Now she was cursing and complaining.
The group had packed the camp and set out for Athkoln, as Al'Quil had managed to convince the others that Richard would seek out civilization, something that Elise could report was not to be found in Agliath as the city was in ruins thanks to the nature disaster, so the chances to find Richard was bigger by going to Athkoln. While Aldrianda had set Athkoln as their next target in their journy, so she would, with he simple mind, think that the rest would move to that city and they would therefore find her there.
"I guess we have not made a good first inmpression on you guys, so lets introduce ourselfes anew." Al'Quil turned to Boris "My name is Al'Quil Redmoon, I am, as you might have guessed already, an half-Draciki. The little elf here is Shandina, once a famous alchemist known for doing miracles, but now turned into a Child because of a elixir she made. The angry woman is Elise, a half-sucumbi that we saved a village from, don't aks me why, but my cousin Aldrianda, who's the leader of our party, wanted to take her with us on our journy. Then we got the irritating thief, Golaw, who is from the same thief guild as your thief Grim. I hope we'll get along somewhat better than before." Al'Quil said emotionless.

Robert looked at the rubble with a hint of apathy. "I'm not an expert on orc-culture, but is that war paint?" he asked to nobody in particular. Orcs... Great, cruel and magnificent monsters straight out of a nightmare. At least, that's what Robert was told, but he never saw wild ones before, since he was brought up in the desert, so all he had was a guess about orcs.

Though, he guessed that a stab through the heart or neck would do the trick... If not, he could run behind Shalan...

"Damn fools!" Huld started to mumble to himself as he went closer to the village streets.

"Absolutely no precautions as to an attack! No traps, No militia, No river to slow down the orcs as they used these pitiful bows to thin their line." Huld said as he steped on a long bow which immediately cracked.

If these brutes over took this city easily what of... NO! The Southern orcs would not be smart enough to find us! But...

Huld caught Robert staring at him but he quickly looked away then asked if paint was on their face.

"Yes... the same paint that the orcs that captured me wore." said Huld examining the face of the closest one.

"I told you they were not the brightest bunch... wait whats this?" Huld pulled out an axe that was lobed in one of the citizens.

This is the strangest mark i have ever seen!

As Huld looked on the ground for clues he saw some gems. The same kind of gems that bandit had! The strangest of all they seemed to have been scattered all over the place!

"I don't think that these orcs did this for the mere thrill of conquest." said Huld more to himself than anyone.

He told the others he would scour the city for survivors and for lodging but Huld did this for nothing more than to make sense of what was happening and what too write to Broocks.

Flames, death and blood all around. Even a smaller amount of such stimulus would be enough to drive a hungry vampire into a voracious feeding frenzy. How lucky for the group that Shariya had fed just last night. Sadly that wouldn't help them much if they were to decide to linger there for too long.

Shariya strained to keep her focus on keeping up her act. Pretending that she was feeling disturbed by of seeing such a mess (though the truth was quite the contrary) she said: "I think that we should be moving on, no hope of replenishing our supplies here."

With quite a hint of apathy in his voice, Jeremy said: "She is right. Orcs usually loot everything they deem useful and easy enough to carry. Unless we find any survivors, we should be going."

Huld walked over the blood and gore of the battle. Most of the fires have blazed out but a couple of them were in a lesser blaze.

No buildings seemed fit for camping. The crumbled remains of wooden log houses were scorched so bad they had half turned to soot.

For a time Huld saw more orc bodies than human. He supposed that they must have rallied close by.

After much more trudging he found an inn which seemed to have been the last stand.

Huld saw that this was one of the few buildings made of good neatly cut stone. The rest had the look of stones heaped one over the other.

Huld pushed the door of the inn.

*WHAM*

A wooden plank had swung out of nowhere and hit Huld squarely in the face.

By instinct Huld fell back and let himself stumble down the stone steps of the inn.

"I told you it would work!" said one of the figures who had knocked Huld down.

A gasp was heard and Huld could hear light footsteps rushing down the stairs he had recently fallen.

"You idiot! I told you it might be someone who could help us!" said the unmistakable voice of a little girl.

The other came down to inspect Huld.

"Why do all of my plans have to fail?!" said the voice of the boy which was followed by something that sounded like a nail hitting wood.

"Careful next time you almost gave me nosebleed" said Huld as he uprighted himself. "Now what do you need help with?"

"Great. We should get going now then."

Ethan starts walking out of the city, but stops shortly, looking back. He looked over each member of the party, then realizes the short one is missing.

"Oh. Huld, right? Well, you all can go look for him. It is too warm for my liking, so I think I will remedy that."

Ethan goes over to the small scattering of gems, looking through them. He picks a select few up, then runs off to the center of the city. Once there, he begins casting a spell. After several minutes he finishes, and gray clouds slowly draw in. Once the spell is complete however, he starts wandering around, looking for anything of importance; even if it is just the others of his group.
