Practise when I was doing rugby you could suddenly get a punch in the stomach or get brutally tackled. Had to stay tough! (especially me, those guys were twice my size. literally.)
Ever been caught on the nose? One good punch has the chance to put you down, it's awful! Blood squirts everywhere.

And there's the point that blocking body hits always makes a hole in your high guard...
Me? I'm a traditional Wado Ryu practitioner. Distance control and taisabaki(not being there where the hit is coming) are everything.
But I do have good abdominal muscles so I can take a hit or two unless it's with an iron bar. Those do NOT feel good.

Once you have trained your abdominal muscles, you can take powerful blows there without any worry. Hurts a bit, but nothing more.

I just joined a MMA team in the neighbour town, first training today .. I were matched up with a 30kg heavier and a head shorter guy, and MAN he had some powerful strikes! Would've knocked me out fast if I hadn't been quicker.
It's illegal to have MMA matches in Norway, so we have to go to Sweden for that. Still, felt great getting to work on the fighting again!

You probably won't get any, I don't have a videocamera and my cellphone sucks maybe when I eventually get into matches!
From next week on we'll get a professional boxing trainer, he had trainer two norwegian champions earlier on. Gonna be fun! And I have to start running a couple of miles daily. Bæh.

Just wait till your boxing trainer starts giving you intervals runs for everyday. They're going to be hell.
Half of what your round lasts with near maximum power, then with full power, then the rest between rounds walk. That over again for as many rounds as you're going to have. You're going to love it.

I knew you'd like. I was somewhat impressed myself. But that is what one should except considering the difference in skill between women's olympic judo and women's MMA.
If you didn't know(I assume Ad did but the rest of you didn't), she was a bronze medalist in the Beijing olympics.
Speaking of MAs, I'm resuming karate this or the next week. Probably Wado-Ryu but we'll see.
Edit: So when do we get to see your competition vids Ad? Same goes for Edn too.
UPDATE:
Went to practice today. Results are a bloody karate-gi and a tired man.
Success. I am so hooked again.
Got to teaching a pretty woman in the art of takedown in an anything-goes-spar.
*Ta-ta-taa-ta-ta-ta-taaaa* Tango music plays *Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-taa-aaa*
*krhm* yes I stepped beyond her front leg with mine, dropped weight and flipped her over straight into my arms. Just like in tango. 
Ah, I so love the people from karate styles which don't have good takedown, throw and lock base.
That reminds me, I've got to buy gloves.

I only know of one match video of me... you reminded me of it so I had to go and watch it and guess what I just realized? I should've fricking won.
Dunno if you're familiar with Judo scoring but the score table was like this:
Adrius
2 Waza-Ari
2 Yuko
Opponent
Shido (a warning for insulting the judge cuz he got mad at me dominating his ass)
2 WAZA-ARI = IPPON = VICTORY FOR ADRIUS you noob judge! ARGGH!
I dominated the entire match and then my opponent manages to get me in an armbar right at the end...
Haven't competed in a year now though, I lost interest a while ago and nowadays I just compete to support my dojo.

It's like Waza-Ari but smaller.
No amount of Yukos add up to a Ippon, and 2000 Yukos are still less than 1 Waza-Ari.
Before we had Koka too (which was lower than a Yuko) but they scrapped that.
