Umm double clicking it? What is the problem? If it tells you that H5 is not installed then you have the wrong version.

Right.. I see!
Now, another question; I guess there are patches for H5 and HoF as well, or am I wrong?  If yes, are the H5 and HoF patches included in the ToE 3.1 patch or do I have to download them seperately in order to achieve their effect?
Also: If there are more than one patch in H5 and HoF, do I have to download all those, or is it enough with the latest one?

Yes there are different patches for HoF and original.

But I don't know why would you play those two, TotE has everything they have except the campaigns. But even so, the campaigns can be downloaded from here

H5 HoF and ToTE are 3 games and each can work alone.

For H5 you can start with 1.3 patch> 1.4 > 1.41 > 1.5 > 1.6
HoF it is just 2.1 patch

The H5 1.6 & HoF are very similar to eachother

ToTe has many new things but the changes that have been made by 2.1 and 1.6 are included in 3.0 version.

You don't "get the patches", because TotE already has the system like those two with the patches.

It's like installing a game fully patched

So yes, you "get the patches" from the others

Although HOF is not included in TotE, that's a seperate package with separate patches!

It's good to know I can attack that stack of water elemental's guarding the shipyards in Key to Victory now without shivering in horror.

Yes this change is hidden somewhere that its affects the spellpower of creature stack formula but don't mess with creatures growth.
I tried to change it and
Before 40 of them deal 93 damage
After (weekly growth reduce to 1) 40 of them deal 136

It's in "GameMechanics\RPGStats\DefaultStats.xdb" file.

Look for:

<SpellDamageMultiplier>0.3</SpellDamageMultiplier>

in the <Creatures> and then <Neutral> section

In patch v3.1 there are no changes to any of the racial skills or abilities, am I right?  Then what about this below?



I am playing RMG map, the hero in question is Dougal (not campaign map, not Godric).  Yes he is at level 22 or 23 I think, but I thought benediction buffs are not affected by hero level (I know duration is, but not the other buffs)?

Forgot to try and cast the spell...but as it seems, the troops would really get double-effect benediction if it was cast...

This battle, if I recall rightly, is at month 3 week 1 day 7.  And when I press this screenshot, the battle was in mid-way, with my Dougal hero close to winning (as can be seen from ATB bar).  In the end, won with NO losses (not a bad feat considering enemy hero has 10 magma drags, 10 lava drags and a host of dwarven and dungeon units)  

If benediction really has some sort of increase in its power, then it would not be a useless racial ability.

Anyone able to check on this?

Edit: I only used Magnomagus' advanced AI mod and Kilrein's spell visual effects mod. both of which should not change the ability in any way.  I hope it is not a bug of incorrect description, though...

Maybe you should try to see its actual effect. I remember the description takes it from the Banshee Howl effect for some reason (when I made a mod that modified Banshee Howl - the description (and only the description) of Benediction was modified as well)

So, did you by any chance enhance Banshee Howl? Do you have those artifacts from the Necro Set in your inventory?

Tested again, with ring of the unrepentant and cloak of death's shadow (I recalled I equipped the latter and it helped me immensely in winning the hero battle), and found that:-

(1) benediction indeed showed double-effect in spellbook, but spellbook does not have banshee howl (it is for necromancers only)
(2) most interestingly, when I tested again (this time on a small neutral stack battle to save time), the benediction only increased by +1 attack and +1 defence...guess I need not check the rest

You are right, banshee howl becomes "stacked" into benediction (not-so-coincidentally, both racial abilities are polar opposites of each other), wonder if necromancer's banshee howl can become more powerful simply by this trick.

So is this an "unintended" feature of death's embrace set for knights?  Or is it a bug?  Looks like the latter.

It's a bug.

It goes like this:

The Benediction and Banshee Howl use different variables from the game. This means that when you enhance Banshee Howl (with the artifact set), Benediction still stays the same don't worry.

However, the description from Benediction takes the values from Banshee Howl. When you enhance Banshee Howl, Benediction's description is also updated.

Moreover, if you MOD the game and make Banshee Howl have a 10x times effect (exaggerated), Benediction's description will say that it increases Attack, etc, by 10. However, when using it, it will only increase those values by 1, because it reads the Benediction correct values. The description, however, reads Banshee Howl's values, unfortunately... you could call this a bug.

Give me a break buddy.  What did you attack against a high level hero with a level 1 hero or something?

In my most recent game I was dungeon against inferno on a large random map.  We had a close fight with Inferno just edging out the victory.  The succubi seducers were split in two groups and did a good job taking out my key units.

Do you see me complaining that inferno is overpowered?
