Yeah I have a friend who rocks at soul calibur. He plays as Maxi but I play as Kilik. We are about just as good as each other but he usually wins. His strategy is using wierd combo attacks and my strategy is dodging and then attacking from a distance using the back Y combo so that killik shots his staff forward. Then I run up close and make some combos and posibly a grab.

How can a good Kilik player ever lose to a good Maxi player? I mean, Maxi isn't the worst, but, I mean, compared to Kilik... Unless everything changed in SC4.

In SC3, Maxi really sucked...

After nearly every attack he went into some kind of stance that needed to be finished before he could guard... So any character with a really fast attack could easily battle him without problems...

In SC4 he is a basic Character who is fast and have quite strong attacks. But his attacks are easy to evade. He is the best player for a first timer to play with. But I find i more fun if you take a random character if you are in a vs match. It get's more challenging that way and you learn to fight with new characters and maybe even gets a new fauvorite.

Maxi is alright in SC 4, i think he is buffed.

But my favourite is sophitia. Recently my most favourite char is the guy who use both soul calibur and soul edge, his move is very cool, and he is very strong too.

Adrius - Hmmm, I think it depends who you`re facing. For example, me and my friend never juggle in Tekken. We like to keep it a real fight. Also, the characters - Yoshimitsu is a very tricky character and allows many strategies. I agree that blocking is quite hard - especially because many moves can be finished differently, low kick, mid kick or even a new stance. Its good that there are some attacks that the comp fails to block. Devil Jin`s Corpse Thrust for example.
SC does have better movement, but I don`t like ring-outs.

So, what about Lizardman in SC4? Is he any good? I guess he wasn`t the best in SC3, but he`s my favorite. I don`t even know why. Also liked Taki and Ivy.

Huh? Both? How cool is that? Tell me! Who? It's not Zazalamel is it?

Oh... and how's Xianghua in SC4? Has she dropped the "just kidding!" attitude yet? I've always loved everything about her except that immature part... I mean, she's got stylish moves, no ultra-boobs... she's cool.

Oh... but she's in love with the Imba-spammer guy... - 50 respect points...

EDIT: @einomida: Honestly, a game that you have to play in a special way to make it funny isn't really good... I like Tekken, but it completely sucks in comparison to SC. And what's wrong about Ring Outs? It adds even more strategy to the game The fact that a guy with 5% hp can win against a guy with 100% hp with a ringout is cool

Oscarius, where are you? Get in here and agree with me!

He is called Algol. And in the begining of the game (the intro movie) you see him attack siegfried and take his weapon. The weapon becomes a part of him and he can change his hands to form the soul calibur sword and the souledge sword. End of story.

You don`t have to play it in a special way. You just leave the one part that takes the fun away (juggling) out. What I like about Tekken is the variety of characters and playing styles.
I think SC doesn`t offer it that much, you can pretty much predict one character`s moves if you know other`s.
Anyway, I like them both, because they are fairly different and if I get bored of one, I play the other.

One frustrating thing about SC 3 was the Night Terror storyline. I never saw it, the 3 or 2 fights before Night Terror were too hard for me. I was mainly using Lizardman.

That's what I call playing in a special way, removing parts of the game to make it funny.

Huh? That's pretty much my point, knowing your opponent's moves really make a difference in SC, If you wouldn't be able to predict an opponent's moves you'd be depending on luck, as in Tekken. I'm not saying SC doesn't involve luck or that Tekken doesn't involve skill, but the Luck vs. Skill amount is much more on the Skill side for SC.

I agree, they're different in that SC rocks the hell out of Tekken

Huh? Night Terror storyline? Never heard of it Only place that I've encountered Night Terror at is in the Soul Arena mission

OMG I'm using more than 3 quotes! I'm turning SIRIOUS!

Night Terror storyline - Soul Arena? I can`t remember the name, maybe it was Soul Arena, but it was basically like Tekken`s Arcade mode I think. You choose your fights around a map. And if you pick the right ones, you end up fighting Night Terror. Its different for every character. But I never managed that. One fighter before him was too difficult for me.

Heh, really?

The only "secret" boss I've managed to find is that Owl guy... and I couldn't beat him that time (used a character I wasn't really familiar with)

Ahh now I remember, the Owl guy's name is Olcadan, so the Night Terror fight is somewhere after him?

Oh, and Soul Arena isn't the story mode, it's more of a arcade thing with special conditions per battle and stuff.

Checked Wikipedia
Quote:
Night Terror is the secret final boss in Soulcalibur III's Tales of Souls mode.

Also checked Soulcalibur Wiki:
If you follow a specific path (different for each character) and don`t lose any battles, you`ll eventually reach a labyrinth, where you fight a shadow-like character, a normal character and Olcadan. If you defeat Olcadan, you can battle Night Terror.
Ah yes, I remember now. The three fights before Night Terror are difficult. The shadow-like character is hard to beat and I think your health doesn`t fully recover and you can`t lose at all or you`ll fight Abyss instead.

So, you were pretty close.

Well, I don't because this time, Yahtzee does not even mention the stunning responsive gameplay, gorgeous graphics or sound... he is retarded enough to talk about the story (like we don't know that fighters don't have any) or the obvious guest char. gimmick, but I guess that's his job, to use hyperbole at every 2 seconds.
