I agree with consis.

I'll make this short so they don't have that much to flame.

Oh, playing heres for fun, that sounds so BS. Who would EVER want to play a game for just the fun of it? No matter how good, or how bad i am at playing a game, i only play as long as i find it funny.

If you play warcraft 3 tft you could find me on BNet, my name is yuRiZ, i play on Northrend(Europe) I'm not good at the game, but i'm ususally up for a 1on1(i can't host btw)

And please stop flaming Consis, he is right about this and the only way you can survive this with you're image of yourself as a great heroes player, is to put him down. It's you're own faults that you only play one kind of game, you noticed things to abuse in HoMM3, as a example, you can't do you're so beloved chaining in HoMM4, sucks doesn't it?

GL HF at finding some way to insult me for my so called ignorence when it comes to HoMM3(and i do know that HoMM4 has a lot of bad sides, but it's somewhat more strategic than HoMM3, which still gives it some flare)

Its a typical reaction, that someone that has no good arguments on his side, leaves the way of argueing and tries to annoy people into a flamewar.

Antoher typical reaction of loosing an argue is to say that it is a specific TOH thing only for those one way players that are in there.

But the truth is else..

so consis as u started the discussion and asked for opinions and good arguments, uve no right to flame those who gave u the wanted advice.

To close your eyes and play on like you did over the years, is of course an opportunity, which noone in here says u wont be allowed anymore ..lol.. but the opinion of the known and good players are that it maybe improve your gameplay if u rethink your strategy for the given reasons.

A fact is that this its only a TOH thing theory belongs to fairy tales. Ive played all the original Map and downloaded almotst all maps from the Fanpages, and played original and playermade Random templates, and its still a noobish nonsense to take experience over cash on any of those maps, due to the facts that are already stated.

As bjornee already stated how a map where u would take the experience would look like:

A map without Wandering Creatures or Creature buildings on it.

There is NOOOO map like this!

I admit that chaining is a matter of taste. I understand why some dont like it. If u play for fun and can agree with opponent not to chain, i see nothing that would speak against it. It would just be hard to win against someone who does chain. For me personally i really like the chaining part in H3, as it gives -in my opinion- the game a far more strategic depth and an additional tool to make a good winning stratgy and plan.

Well, if its in the for the strategic part, why was it removed in HoMM4?

You guys arent really good, you're only good in some maps, as an exampel, a island map, small islands, that would remove the xtra cash thing fast, u wouldnt be able to chain, and to get another place with resources you have to buy a boat, and with almost none starting resources, 10 wood could become a problem.

I want to write some lines about the "fun factor while using chaining" topic.

I think you are wrong here.
I play this game for 7 years now.......with much fun....but the fun was less and less with the time...even on 200% it wasnīt that hard to beat the comp...
AND i didnīt knew about that chaining thing!!

Then i started to play online.....i didnīt learned much new things about fighting tactic, but what i did, was learning much about SPEED.....and that this "skill" is nearly the MOST important thing.
I was able to do dwarven treasuries or crypts or medusa stores in first week BEFORE i went online, but didnīt realize, that i could do MUCH MORE fights in first week than i did up to then.
I thought itīs NOT possible to meet opponent on a XL map in week FIVE or SIX...before i went online.....now i know itīs no big deal to do so....coz i will have much more money and experience points (from fights!!!) than i would have by doing everything with my main only.

Since then, i think i NEVER took experience again from a chest....and STILL have fun with that game.....i think even more than before..

this thread is more and more starting to sound like a broken record:

*TOH vets are naming maps and making fool proof examples why cash is better.

* The n00bs says these are just TOH style and is crap on other maps (which are never mentioned btw) and that all TOH players are bigheaded.

* TOH vets replies with even more detailed arguments why cash is better than experience.

* The n00bs says this is wrong and that TOH vets are still big headed and that their reasoning doesnt apply on all maps (other maps are still yet to be mentioned)

* TOH vets is making examples why experience is no good.

* The n00bs slam the TOH vets opinions based on that they are bigheaded... and they are completely wrong because you cant play "TOH style" on every map (examples doesnt exist now either..suprise)

and it seems to just keep going.

So here is my idea, since the n00bs seems so determined not to learn from words and advice given by experts.

Lets settle it out on the battlefield.

At first i was thinking 1v1.. but then it would prolly just be BS about luck and such.

So i wonderd what you would think about a 2v2 game.

I know that consis can play online and tossdeal says he can play warcraft online so shouldnt be a problem then.

I will also accept challenges 1v1 from you. Heck that would even make it worthwhile installing this game again

so...

tossdeal or consis, are you ready to back your words up with an allied game or fight it out 1v1?

You pick the map.

Time to find out if its just talking...

Well

Hehe. A Simple island map would also proove them wrong, because here there is limited cash on the ground, u can't chain, it costs 10 wood and 1000 gold to get off the island with a hero, and there is no early base.

i've tried but i can't play online in HoMM3.. This isn't an excuse.

Consis, start acting your age. You are the one who ignores arguments and starts ad hominem attacks instead, not me. I wonder how you donīt feel embarassed when you respond to my patient postings the way you do - here and in the 'real life' part of the forum.
You are also the one who fanatically defends this experience thing. Just look at the number and lenght of reasonable explanations from good players that you have completely ignored, based on the concept:'It cannot be, what Consis doesnīt want to be.'

There is one map where EXP is better than gold. Random Small with 4 players, ffa. That is the edgiest map Ive ever played. A good magic hero and exp is best there. I once won a map like that even against the grail, because I took a pandoras box with 10k exp in it with a magic hero, and KIIIILLLEED with my lightning bolt

YAAAY!!

But that is more like one big intense battle than a real map campaign. Still, exp is good there.

This is an interesting one.I too used to take exp from chests except for the case that i had 500XP/1000gold.Also i used to go for the capitol first(day 1 week 2).Even on 130% difficulty. Then i started playing wog(before caming to the community and hearing all theese things about tactics, chaining and so on) and i realized that the building algorithm  should be done imore dynamic.I didn't like Wog so i stopped playing that after only a few days. But the fact remains:There is no sense to hurry gain exp in the first week(doesn't even really matter what hero fights). If you go for capitol first, that means you'll have only your day1 starting army anyway so i bet you can't get more than 1500Xp from a fight week 1(except conflux).Let's say you take some chests, stones and do some fights week 1.To have a lvl 10 hero day 1 week 2 is the best i think can be done if you're very lucky. In that time you already lost a part of your army, cleaned the nearby area and now you're stuck cos there are some big stacks guarding the exit. You can't do nothing. You can't recruit from day to day cos you need the money for buildings. You have no more xp chests to take and now you weep for some cash. You have no resources left in your area so you cannot build those lvl 7 units. So you wait. One whole week lost.Week 3 you take your 3 lvl 7 units(if you have the money) and try to break.Maybe you do it maybe you don't.If you do, what chances do you think you have against a guy who did it in the middle area a week before you and who by now took 3-4 cons? You risk meeting a lvl 20+artifact full hero with 5 lvl 7 units(almost sure upgraded already)+some angels.I think your superiour fighting skills will guide you to the "r" key.

I just noticed that Consis has apparently deleted all of his posts in this thread, making it pretty much hard or impossible to read and follow the most recent pages. The way he did it, without at least editing in an apology and explanation, IMO is rather bad style. You just donīt do this kind of thing in a forum, when youīre a major part in the discussion.

I can understand him to some extend, as he not rarely posts quality in other parts of HC, and this thread he has been far below his usual level. Still I think there were ways for him to solve this problem of his in a mature way.

I think Consis' posts have been slashed by a new mod sword... but I could be wrong.
In any case, this thread is good for n00bs, and it really helped me. the arguments are still present by bjorn and SS and Xarfax so I say this is really good info for noobs.
