this debate is still going on?
i never even played multiplayer, and one of the things i picked up on after a while was that gold was always better.
here's a simple experiment: try playing the same level twice. once getting xp, the second time getting gold. do this a bunch of times and record your results.

Noob?? I've been playing this game since it came out and have noticed how many fewer and fewer people are playing it so my statement are pretty strongly supported

Way to make the newcomer feel welcome. 
Suppose you played a map with no crypts treasuries etc. Everyone is fossilized into playing only on certain maps/templates. That much I've learned from glancing at this board occasionally.
Very few play single player.

It's kinda sad. And I think the point is that the game doesn't get any new players (not noticeable) but people drop out regularly.

Don't take every "offensive" post too serious Vrabel....it is just the same all over again. New members who played the game since it came out in 1999 think they are pretty decent players.
then they discover great new tactics (like chosing gold instead of experience ) and then they make their first online game vs at least average skilled human online players and get beaten so badly they even think the got cheated...
But after that experience, some of them get really motivated and become better palyers...and discover great new sides in playing H3.
Let's see what group you belong to..
