HoMM3 Direct Connect

Hello, my fellow HoMM 3 Lovers,

I have been playing this game for as long as I can remember, and will still do for years to come

I have just signed up (so please be gentle ), and started a new topic, because I really need your help.

I have recently bought a new pc, and I thought it would be really nice to play HoMM3 against my friends, while sitting next to eachother using "Direct Connect" on both computers.

But how does this work?? I have tried looking through the forum but don't have a clue where to find it, there is so much here!...

So, first I choose to host a game. These are the settings to change:

*Serial Port (Com 1 - 4) - Does this mean I can only hook up the PCs using a two-way com-cable (printerlike cable) and not an ethernet cross-cable?

EDIT: Its not a printerlike cable, it has to be a serial comcable, so no ethernet cable

*Baudrate - What is this and what should I set it to?

*Stop Bits - 1, 1.5, or 2 bits? What is this?

*Parity - Even, Odd or Mark? What is this for?

*Flow - Xon/Xoff, RTS, DTR or RTS/DTR? What is this for?

And I should have the same settings on both pc's I guess?

I want to play the HoMM 3 "Wake of Gods"-mod using the direct connect. Is this possible? And do I have to have the same WoG settings on both PC's?
--------

(And while Im asking questions, I might as well ask this too (but maybe it's not the right place): Does anybody know how to change the Hitpoints and Attack/Defense a bit, of the Blood Dragons in WoG? Which Erm file do I have to modify?
I want to do this, because I love playing Necromancer, but playing against Supreme Archangels, Lords of Thunder and Archdevils, the Blood Dragons are just not good enough...)

--------

Thank you all very much for reading this and I hope that somebody can help me out!
I would really appreciate this!

Use tcp/ip instead and you can play together.

That is correct, besides its decently bugged too. I cannot hook up with my friend and we both got static IP's.

I guess the standard for 2002 or someting, i think it was the old style cabels for direct connection. The ones is usually used for direct filesharing.

Bitrate and stuff? test and figur out.

Hi, (sorry but I dont understand, and havent gotten it to work yet) so youre saying a crosscable won't be working through TCP/IP? So we actually have to use the COMports? (And therefore Direct Connection?)

Ignore Diablo, he misunderstood.

You can use TCP/IP with a crossover cable in ethernet port.
