* Units retrained into their more commonly used versions. Don't even dare comment on my subjectiveness (hehe elvin you know that you have comments against this by me!)

* Cotn, armageddon and word of light get the boot. Let's face it, it's a lame way to do battle. Armageddon I wouldn't mind but academy and dwarves have cheap strategies based on it and since dungeon can't consider a victory killing both players there isn't much point. (by taking out the cotn and wol the only thing you do is make sure that ressurection and puppet or vampirism will be always there... unfair wins for the dark users....)


* Inferno gets frenzy and puppet, these spells are their only hope against certain factions *cough*sylvan*cough* As I've said before vampirism is not as effective with low spellpower and blind can only be countered in several ways. (i dont know what the difficulties when playing inferno are but this is just imbalanced)

In general elvin i see a big trying form your side to make the map balanced to be honest, BUT you are not trying in the orthodox way which is to make it look like a normal game. anyway these are my comments. if you wish to stop trying correct the map just tell me (of course this goes only to elvin!)

Cotn/word does about 400 dmg and does not hurt native units. The armies are little for this to ever be balanced, I'd have to make it week 4 army strength. As it is cotn can only be balanced vs academy that has minies, stronghold that MAY get shatter and fortress that MAY fry your @ss with armageddon. Not sure where you see the balance in a spell that takes away about 1/3 of your army. In any case if you prefer lame wins I have nothing more to say..

About inferno I will say it openly. It *sucks* without aid from those. Before saying imba this imba that why don't you try playing a few inferno duels first?

Yes the conventional way would be to increase army strength but that would change the whole map and need new balance testing while a few tweaks can do the job better. And wake up, a duel map can NEVER be like a real game so this arguing is pointless. There is no strategy, no creeping, no dilemmas, no adventure locations, no planning ahead - nothing! When the army is preset you can only deal with the 'inside' parameters which is stack size, available artifacts and spells both in availability and strength.

Artifacts have been taken care of.
Stack size would be unfair between the factions, you should try to see what happens if instead of 16 paladins/14 inquisitors I had 18/12 instead. Chaos, you can have a better chance vs something you were losing earlier but now win ie stronghold easier. Only high druids are an exception are their special is too strong.
Here's what happens with spells. Play the same duel with heroes at lvl 15 and necro gets pwned. Now try on lvl 21 and the opposite happens. I'll tell you why, phoenix and puppet are a lot less powerful at 15 but when you get 20+ power they can rip an army in pieces.
Of course I could do away with the spell shop. And what then? Then a bad combination of spells in town and the game is over just like that. Because necro NEEDS spells while haven already HAS an army.

It's like in mapmaking, the only way to keep things as balanced as possible is to stay away from the original balance and introduce some features that prevent the regular imbalances. Thank goodness the game is pretty balanced but there are still some issues.

Now enough about that, get to playing

Since Mysty won't be playing Zamfir passes to the next round. For your interest first pair plays with the second, third with the fourth etc so skeleton_king and radar can play for the next round if they wish.

As of right now Lexxan passes to next round and I get the boot. What can I say he's just lucky Still that was not half bad, a shame none of us kept replay as it was close by a hair. Also played one have vs inferno that both his paladins and angels acted before my cerberi lol. Not a good way to start.

It all went kinda like this :

-Thunder Thanes Act and Use Rune of Battle Rage.
-Thunder Thane Hits Grim Raiders with Good Luck: Lightning hits Taskmasters and AssasinsThunder Thane
-Thunder Thane hits Deep Hydra. Lightning Hits Furies, Black Draons and Shadow Mistresses

-Blood Furies hit Skirmisher
-White Bear Riders use Rune of Elemental Immunity and move
-Battle Ragers use Rune of Elemental Immunity and move

-Shadow Mistress Casts Slow on the Battle Ragers
-Black Dragon hit's Defender. Firebreath halves the Skirmisher Stack
-Rune Keeper cast Fireball on Deep Hydra. Fireball his Hydras and Blood Furies. All Blood Furies perish
-Assassins Poison Thunder Thane
-Ebba Casts haste on Mamga Dragon
-Raiders hit White Bear Riders
-Skirmishers use rune of Elemental Immunity
-Skirmishers shoot Black Dragons. Crippling Wound. Good Morale
-Kythra Implodes Thunder Thanes (8 die)
Magma Dragons use rune of Elemental Immunity and move
-Hydras hit Magma Dragons
-Taskmasters hit Magma Dragons
-Defender uses Rune of Berserking. Defender attack Black Dragon
Skirmisher shoots Black Dragon
Bear Rider uses rune of Battle rage. White Bear Rider hits Grim Raider and Black Dragon

Assassins have acted twice in the meantime. They poisonned Skirmishers and Rune Keepers. Thunder Thanes are killed too (I forgot by whom)

Everyone should be posting replays so us guys that sit in the bleachers can watch.

Fortress looks really strong to me from the replays I've watched with their runes + a ton of resources, but I guess they can be beat still?

I think Thanes in particular are too strong with a few extra runes tossed on to them.

For me Rune of Resurrection and Mark of the Wizard + Resurrection spell are pretty IMBA

I'm not suggesting to change this, Elvin, it was just IMO.

Rune of resurrection is annoying as heck especially with last stand, I should know. But it can't be used with motw if you wanted to, maybe you meant something else?

And you can't really complain that I don't post replays here Btw fortress is perfectly beatable, done it with all factions except inferno and haven.

Yes, I meant that Rune of Resurrection is pretty IMBA.

AND I also meant that MotW + Resurrection spell is pretty IMBA (well, for me)

Oh hehe I wish the resurrection rune was nerfed a bit but as much as I hate it I don't think banning it would be a good idea. As for motw it's a crazy ability but as with most things it can be overpowered in some cases or unable to help you in others. Even for all of academy's casting speed you cannot prevent some things. If we are talking about this map in specific it can be with 20 spellpower but with 10+ spellpower it's nothing gamebreaking.

Well about the units I more or less agree, of course it depends on the player and the situation (which faction you face) BUT I disagree with only one of them:

The Skeleton Archer. I can't believe you didn't choose the Warrior, it's 10 times better (ok, maybe exaggerated but still superior in every situation)
