Actually that is not true. It was in the previous one that there was some issue with the spellcasting factions, now it's pretty fair. And if you don't pick shatter you can still go for a pure might build as still do fine. Only dark is hard to overcome.

Good job  Can't watch them now because I'm already in a game though 
Zamfir has not played his games and I gave him one more day. He says it's unlikely he'll finish by then in which case I will have to give the victory to fiur. The alternative is if fiur decides to withdraw but I have no idea.

Necro vs Haven was very interesting - at first it seemed that Haven has the advantage but that changed in the end.
And you just love to choose Academy to ensure your win, hmm? For once let's just not play Academy and Fortress in our gamesQuote:

The Haven army takes forever to kill so I made my build for the long haul. He ran out of mana eventually and I still had a decent reserve left even by the end, so the game shifted after that point.

Hmm, Empowered Deep Freeze killing 12 Paladins - I think that's enough to know who won

I think I was too lucky in this one (too many lucky shots)

I'm not surprised at all with Round 1, after even considering Fortress is imba to being with as well! But then I didn't see Rune of Resurrection, but even with that, Consume Artifact would most certainly out-perform it. The other runes weren't as imba when facing Academy because of the super overpowered mini-artifacts. Not really unexpected, though to be frank I was expecting a bigger massacre.

Now that I think more of it, I should have used Rune of Elemental Immunity with the Mamgas more so that they would have become immune to Deep Freeze.
I don't know if it would have made me won, probably not, but still it was a mistake not to use that rune.

The correct way to counter Academy in this would be to play Academy; but that isn't an option. Other than that, I've killed them before (pretty solidly) as haven or runemage with haste + righteous might. But that involves luck with the spells in your mage guild.

A well planned Academy can win against any other faction, at least in this duel tournament. Of course Haven can be a concern if you haven't prepared. Then again, from the start of this I was thinking we need to leave out Academy & Fortress, but later realized I would have people shouting at me for that 
(and using excuses like "theory crafting" since I don't play)

I just realized I used Swift Mind with Sylvan. I thought Swift Mind was disabled only for Dungeon, but now I remember that it was banned for good
OMG, I'm so stupid
But did that Mass Righteous Might make such a huge difference? I mean, without Swift Mind I would have had 4 more skill points (Adv. Logistics + Scouting + Swift Mind), and the battle wasn't very close either.
Anyway, Elvin, if you really want we'll replay the Sylvan vs Necro match... but I just hope I'll get Cleansing and Resurrection again  (and of course, the skills)
I feel so bad now, by "cheating"...

What you don't see is that academy took a big risk by not getting protection artifacts. If blizzardboy had planned an armageddon abuse with possibly cold death(just in case for phoenix) academy would be in deep waters. I've said it before, I have defeated fortress with any race on that particular map they are just hard to beat if things go their way.
The haven match and sylvan were pretty interesting as well since it was not clear what would happen. Sylvan without mass cleansing or even the single variant would be in a predicament.

Eh it's not so important. My main concern was that I did not want it used by dungeon. Sylvan could have picked other crucial skills instead so it's not an issue.

As i see now Magical Immunity spell without duration isn't that to much or it don't work against Irresistable Magic
And woow the Consume Artifact needs only 0.25 of hero turn now that should be chaged.

Magical immunity works, however irresistible spells bypass it. With expert the warlock will still do half damage.
