The first one, I didn´t realize the insane ballista until he did the first shot. I thought he had went to Destructive Magic, but the "ice chopper tactic" is simply awesome. I needed a miracle to do anything but I wasn´t really prepared for that. No magic resistance, no damage reduction (thought that you will take light)


Meh, I don't think resistances would have helped that much. There's only so much you can do against an imbue ballista , maybe if you had some gremlin sabatour immigrants?

(3rd duel/ Haven vs. Dungeon ) Final Boss 2 – Elvin 1:  REPLAY

I finally had my lucky vengeance . His warlock did a lot of damage with deep freeze but my high morale units aided by an empathic knight managed to kill all dungeon creatures really fast. I forgot the “25 paladins max” rule so I had 27, but Elvin said it was no problem so we continued. High morale griffins saved me... damn, I'm lucky when it doesn't really matters  :_(

FB, you have more balls than I do. I don't feel comfortable using Haven vs Dungeon because all that defense is useless vs spellpower. You pulled it off though. The Dungeon attacked a few times that it probably would have been better off waiting or defending just to stall for more time (like when the red dragons attacked the conscripts), but it's easy to underestimate the damage Haven can still do on the counterattacks, I know I still do from time to time.

Congratulations, as I said it was like raising an undead final boss to challenge but it proved stronger than me
About the battle one thing to say. Final Boss's special allows him to get good morale each time he battledives! Dungeon is one of the reasons I am considering to ban elemental arties, normally you can't kill a stack per cast just as griffins normally don't get morale in every action all the while being a step ahead of the hero.

So the battle for next round is up to radar and veco, let's see how that goes



About the elemental arties it goes without saying that I would also eliminate the respective protections along with the boosting ones. Maybe I will only disable slippers because meteor shower and implosion are my main concerns, otherwise it depends if you want destructive power to be up to chance or not.

I may also return earthquake through a quest though I'm not really sure if it's needed. I guess it could help vs academy's hive/crystal or blade barrier spamming but the factions that use summoning don't really need it. Plus knowing that an opponent has easy access to that kinda defeats the whole purpose. And no I'm not enabling it in guild so that it can potentially take the place of phantom forces or barrier

I'm definitely adding town portal, it sucks to waste a game just because you forgot to set favoured enemies or did not visit town again and missed half the spells.

I don't know Elvin....yes the elemental-arties can produce some really strong damage in the right hands, but there's already a lot of spells and arties not in play.  Removing the elemental arties and the resistance arties takes more of the chance factor from the game, which is a big part of HoMM. I think leave 'em in.

Academy game was kinda hopeless. Destructive damage was simply not sufficient, not when units move under mass haste and divine guidance and kshatras were afraid of retaliation. Dungeon vs stronghold was a lot of fun, summoning/dark steals the show again That and the grims killing cyclopes in one single blow but that could have been avoided by blocking them with shamans. Slowing was too risky and apparently one of the reasons the game was lost.

Good job radar.

Now where's Sq79..? The round ends tomorrow.

suspected deaths were 1-3, ended up with lucky 6.

Either people get unlucky or they simply don’t invest in spellpower nearly as much as they should. Having a huge wad of spellpower is what wins the game, and you should be able to average at around 20 spellpower with Academy. 15 is kind of low.  

Probably more importantly, getting stuck with dwarven subterranean in haven vs academy sucks for academy because they have nowhere to turtle. So that benefits Haven.

Ending the tournament? I still have to beat Magmaeater once he finishes swatting aside Sq . Radar is the least of my concerns right now.

No spellpower arties, enlightment didn't help much either. All I got was some attack which is virtually useless for academy facing 24 def haven. And as you mentioned - terrain was a huge disadvantage for me.

Stronghold vs Dungeon was pretty close, only 6 Shadow Mistresses standing...

In the other one, I find killing only one Archangel with Deep Freeze pretty weak... no elemental arties either? You should have tried something else than Destructive than... but probably it would have went even worse, I don't know

RESULTS: game 1 : Sq(dungeon) Vs Mamga(Haven)
Sq won
Game 2 : Sq(stronghold) VS Mamga(Sylvan)
Sq wins again
replay for game 2 (i accidentally overwrote game one with game 2's)
Here


Game 1: a battle of implosions VS mamga using extra crossbowmen.
I forgot tactics and the crossbows died almost immediately.
i did however hit his black dragons with my royal griffin's battle dive.
it was my only intelligent move.


Game 2: I went for master of fire but neve got fireball so i used imbue cold deaths. i think it probably would've gone better if i didn't kill my favorite enemies right off the bat.

Why did the Pristine Unicorns attack the Cyclopes? The retaliation really hurt and the Shamans didn't have a retaliation left anyway.
