It won't add, rather the opposite. It will make the story less thought through, and I know by experience that every one, wether they know it or not, would rather go unknowing. And this way I get to make people think (and possibly squirm!)!

About your post, well I honestly disagree, yeah often people tell afterwrds they'd rather not have known, but in my experience, these people see it like this:
Feeling of lack of knowledge, irritation "Oh PLEASE TELL!!!"
Continue until you tell.
If you tell and it make it less fantastic, feeling of sudden lack
"Oh WHY DID YOU RUIN IT FOR ME!!!??  "
All in all, I don't think it matters, but if people are interested, let them take responsibility for their own choice.
(Anyway I have an idea of what you mean, but in that case you'd be wrong I think )

I see your point, but I feel the opposite, that the irritation of not knowing is less than that of a ruined story.
Besides, I want people to find things out on their own (mostly).
