I wonder if the stars that formed the Black Holes in the center of the galaxies were bigger though

)Actually, no. You only need to have a mass of about 10 times our sun to form a black hole, if my memory serves me correctly.

But not every black hole can hold an entire galaxy together, can it?

True, but if I'm not mistaken, these super massive black holes are formed not from particularly big stars, but when black holes start gobbling up each other.
