Might and Magic IX
I have just read that 3DO are going to release M&M9 in March of 2002, just like HOMM IV.
It's said that the game will have a brand new magic system (maybe similar to the one at HOMM 4) and 23 diffrent skills.
I'm not a M&M fan, and I don't play it, but I ones who do, so maybe this will interest them

I like it ½
10 points for the creatures they make for Might and Magic games(those creatures are favorites of mine! and they should be also in Homm games! Some like Couatl,Wererat,serpentoid and Rook.)
But the gameplay.. Yuck. never saw uglier! Its cool how the trolls attack the archers or dragons attack titans. but the graphics are weak.. I hope Might and Magic 9 will be better.. The new screenshots look better.. But I still are not sure about the END result..

I'm a MMer, not even a Hero
This news interests me to the top. Gee, the game looks both cool and weird. I see they kept some of the images (I recognize the dwarf, it was in mm7).
I heard you'd be able to change class. But how I have no clue. But it would be a kinda weird to start as a mercenary and end up as a conjurer, LoL.
The paralel between the MM and the HoMM game is very interesting. We, MMers, were stunned when we saw Sandro in the 3do community and he played... the heroes. Sandro and Thant appear in mm8 and you can actually talk to them. Can't hire them, of course, but you can either make them your allies or enemies.
Some interesting facts: in mm8 and mm7 you can talk to Queen Catherine herself in her castle. In mm7 the Invisibbility spell is put in the spellbook as a man surrounded my mists who carries the Sentinel's Shield. In the Haunted Mansion, you can see a portrait on the wall and it's Ingham's image (how was the spelling; the guy with the monks). And many others, too many to enlist.

...stands for Heroes of Might and Magic 
..about the game itself... it seems as if they use Q2 or Q3 engine for the surroundings... not so sure if that's good anymore...

It's also said that the Graphic engine will be a full 3-D, so expect for a much better graphic!

both q2 and q3 engines are full 3D.. 
..anyway, I kinda don't like the textrues in the first pic... not much detail... and you can do wonders with the right txture... even with a not so good graphic engine... take Max Payne for example... the best work with textures I've ever seen... it almost doubled the polycount...
