Fallout 3

Didn't see a thread for this game, but BluesNews.com posted the system requirements.  I don't think anyone is going to be able to meet them.

Gold - Fallout 3 [October 09, 2008, 1:40 pm ET] - Share - 8 Comments

Following premature reports yesterday, Bethesda Softworks now officially announces that Fallout 3 is gold, and the post-apocalyptic RPG sequel is due in North America as promised (story) on October 28, in Europe on October 30 (a day earlier than previously announced), on October 30 in Australia, and on October 31 in the UK. There is now a FAQ on the Fallout Website with these release dates, details on the game, and system requirements. Here are those specifications: The minimum system calls for a 2.4 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor, Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 256MB RAM (NVIDIA 6800 or better/ATI X850 or better), and 1 GB of RAM for Windows XP and 22 GB of RAM for Windows Vista. The recommended system specs include an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2 GB of RAM, and a Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM (NVIDIA 8800 series, ATI 3800 series).

Lol, major typo (I hope)

So, according to PC Gamer it's basically just Oblivion with guns... I even noticed some voice actors from Oblivion in the Gameplay videos.

Still, I'd get it if I had a better parts...

I'll be getting it for Christmas.  Promise dismayed parents I'd hold off on buying any more games due to it getting increasingly difficult to buy presents for me or something like that.  So no Fallout 3, Fable 2, or Storm of Zehir for awhile.

I've been saying this since it was announced:

Fallout 3 will be a complete dissapointment for old-school Fallout fans (like me). But if you like Morrowind-crap-like games, this may be your thing.

And please, Bethesda? Bethesda cannot do one single decent line of dialogue, how will they cope that with the fact that this is... well, Fallout?

Plus, the "politically correct" factor we have nowadays in games. This will not resemble, nor provide the feeling of a Fallout game just because publishers market to sell, not market to get sued by some Jack Thompson wannabe. I bet if one Jack Thompson would have existed back then, Fallout would have been crucified for that "no curtains" universe.

Bethesda is a pox upon RPGs everywhere, they ruined an entire genre by switching to FPS. Dull, boring FPSs with no storyline whatsoever.

Not the oblivion with guns again..

Oblivion was an extremely shallow and dull game, with the world feeling completely "empty". that's the worst thing that can happen to a crpg.

Fallout: Tactics was a pure TBT. Fallout 2 was an RPG. Notice the difference please. Just because two games "happen" in the same universe, it does not mean they both belong to the same genre.

Tactics wasn't bad.  I never beat it because it got a little boring towards the end but for $20 (a collection of 3 games.  Now I have 3 copies of Fallout 2, 2 of Fallout, and 1 of Tactics), it wasn't bad.  Playing on Hardcore mode when you ran into Supermutants really started to suck.

As to Fallout 3, I'd give it a shot before rendering judgment.  Oblivion with guns and the pipboy isn't a bad thing in my book.

I most likely will buy FO3. But I could wish it had remained as turn based tactical combat like first 2 games. I am dismayed that melee cannot target body parts. I wished to play a hand to hand ninja type character first but will probably play a sniper instead.

This is kind of random and only partially related but as many of you know I work and a company that does movies and games.
We were packaging and shipping Fallout 3 for the PS3 today and as Quality Assurance it's my job to make sure game media jobs are being done PERFECT!  So this one lady mis-read her work instructions which said:  Per Zenimax/Bethesda, place two copies of Fallout 3 games in one shipper carton.  She only followed the part in red thereby shipping more games to one location then what was supposed to have been sent.
Someone's not getting their copy of Fallout 3 on time now.

What the heck is going on with this game?  Is anyone actually playing it?

Some people say it is fun with grey moral choices and consequences to your actions.

Some people say it is oblivion with guns.

One thing I know for sure is that as with most games combat is 90% of the game.

Oh another thing I can't figure out is the copy protection.  For example King's Bounty also comes with Securom and didn't give me any cd-drive issues or 'activation' issues...but there are these 'starforce'-esque complaints about Fallout 3.  So what gives?

There is a ton of information out there but it is often contradictory so I'm appealing to you, players.

A site where I read game reviews gave it 91%.

You can also read that F3 is the best singleplayer RPG game of the year.

Game review sites are utter BS nowadays. Especially since many people judge whether to buy a game or not by reading them. I smell Beth's money there.

Why?

Because the fallout fans are generally very disappointed.

Sorry, but this game should never reach that score.
