create castle!

I hope I made no mistake in making this thread...loads of ideas already here and most of them very good ones.
Anyway, I'll try...


It crossed my mind that will be cool, if we could choose (-within game-)what creatures will be born in some castles...and that castle to be randomly created by the game....

Of course, all those creatures to interact in different ways when living same castle , and that to affect their characteristics.

what about this guys? ..I let you improve this idea. I hope is a nice one and fits our wishes.

I allready replied on it somehow, but as I like the idea, I'll try to let my thoughts just flow for a minute - best ideas are the first ideas!...

Okay, I think it would have to be restricted somehow - some creatures would NEVER fight together (for example: Angels and Demons).
But it would definitely give so much variety, if I understand it right! Of course it would brake up the whole faction-idea somehow^^.

A good idea of you is, I think, that the combo of creatures would change the character of the creatures themselves...it somehow is what the finding harmony town competition is baout, I think...creating factions with creatures in an unusual combination.

This idea would work if each faction was using external "neutral" creatures allied to there faction, this idea would allow those pure external dwellings and units to be used as a core force rather than a additional force.

Well, the way I see it, you could just try to have each faction have several units of the same tier and choose between those, but you can alter the upgrade of them, depending on the other creatures that you chose. It's original, but it requires loads of creature possibilities (work! Prgrammers! Work ) and it also brings up the problem with different creatures. The player will usually pick the best and wander off to lolligag or something, not thinking about the steaming piles of work put into it...

Or maybe you could add some other thoughts to this as well?

What a programmer would do is like, not creating many possibilities between creatures, but make some "reactions" between their characteristics, like...
archenemy-cant stay together in the same castles
you may recrute all tier creatures from each level, not more then 2 or 3 of same tier, and for lvl 1 to 3 or 4 may be (can't be for lvl 4 up)
when creating a castle, you'll have a certain summ of points, (given by all tier creatures you choose - could be stamina )that will allow you to put together a spirite and stalker for example
When allowing spirites and stalkers together, other facts will imply-- stalkers' invisibility will be reduced to...1 turn and spirites init by 1.
-when having same category creatures, some atributes will be added.

Also after setting all of this in creating a castle, we can save it and keep saved town for any other game.

I havent thought about detailed stuff here, but I think would be more strategical/imagination work to be done by players, instead of certain facts that we have now in homm5.

You have two ideas here: Permitting to choose combinations of different creatures into towns and choosing characters of creatures.

I'll start with the one I like more: the creatures' characters. It would be great if you could decide that you want a defensive Squire, and then it would get a bonus to defense/HP, or something similar.

I have an idea!
After the hero wins three battles, he/she will be able to train one of the stacks in his/her army to be defensive/offensive/speedy/etc. The bonus will affect all the units of the same kind and their upgrades. Every three battles the hero will be able to do this.

The idea of putting the creatures in towns the way you want them seems to be a bit too chaotic, in my opinion. As many have noted, there might be some very weird combinations, so...

Rated 'Interesting'.

Hmmm... very interesting idea...

Popping into my mind:

1. A fully developed creature lineup depends on race, location and maybe a third component. Third component could be the magic school, town buildings or something like attitude/reputation.

2. The player chooses a race for himself. The race will grant some race-specific basic units, which are buildable in every type of town, and restrict the chooseable units per town (because some units can cope better or worse with a different race).

3. The town provides specific units which are more or less native to the towns environment (forest, mountains, hills, farms, underground, desert, swamp, wasteland,...). Now the player chooses from this pool of creatures - restricted by his race - the rest of units to fill the tiers which are not used for racial basic units.

4. The upgrades of all creatures finally depend on the magic school (dark, light, destruction, elemental, ... , might updates if magic is not used) or specific town buildings (cathedral for divine upgrades, academy of magic, war school, totem, guild of assasins, portal of shadow, hospital, ... ) or it depends on the players actions (but that would be different to implement).
