The History Archive of HC
HC is a place where many thing happen, and history teaches us that evenst written down in a timeline are not forgotten. So a place where are the major events are tracked was mandatory.
People remember memorable events for months (like the recent HC Olympics), but memories doesn't last fresh forever.
And of course we must consider that newcomers might wonder someday what the HC Olympics was and when it took place. Who will aswer them?
I hope I made you understand how important is to create an archive for our history. HC is a world whos's chronology must be kept.
What does the History Archive contains?
It contains a Timeline, a Statistical Section (with member growth chart and the like), and a file archive.
Which events are tracked in the timeline?
Patch releases, important competitions, changes in the mod squad, forum renamings etc. You got the point. From now on, everything will be tracked in this timeline. Please not that QP-awarding or similar events are not listed.

I like the idea you're trying to do but I dunno if it will work.
You can always go to internetarchive.org and then check HC's past like that.

I agree with William, and I don't really see the point of this thread. Let's see, you said you'll cover:Quote:

1. Patch Releases  I thought they were obvious enough in the Temple?
2. Important Competitions this is indeed nice but there aren't so many...
3. Changes in the Mod Squad this is already explained here in detail
4. Forum renamings another one which is not covered anywhere, I agree, but as for (2) there haven't been many, have they?

Also, even though they aren't on this HC, HC did exist in the year 2000 which can be found with many threads that were made by Valeriy or other posters in March 2001. They copied and pasted what old posts were just for this new HC.

This list should grow a lot bigger, but sadly I have time for serious job only in the weeekends (I can throw a post or two during week time, but that's about all).
@Ash: I understand your point, but it seems that you didn't got the idea. Ofc all this events are obvious, my list will contain ONLY obvious (and subsequently important) events. But after three years, will you remeber all clearly? Do you think historians wouldn't include a kiong's death, for example, in a timeline only because it's obvious? Actually, that's exactely why they will include the event.
And, ofc, the list of included events was not complete. I just listed what came into my mind at the moment of writting.
I think we'll really see the use of this list after some time. Untill then, I will update it with near past's events, and with future events as they occur. I'm sure this doesn't bothers you.

Creation of let's have war.
The largest and most succesful RPG thread in the glade. Half the people who participated were mods at some point and everyone passed at least the status of promising. It also gained most QP's of all glade threads and (after the first half) set a quality standard.

I know this wasn't directed at me, and I look at the history of HC quite a bit, but what is the use of creating a thread for things that may have happened long before you came here? Many people have left this site and it isn't as if they will see this thread. I'm not sure if many care about the history of this place and I know many people would rather just focus on what this site is now rather than what it used to be. I just don't see the point in having this thread showing all the important happenings here when we could just look at internetarchive site or just look at the threads in the last 50 pages of the Tavern or anywhere else. It's all there, and you can see the history of this site just by reading all the old threads. Does a thread about it all really need to be made?
And what is this about historians? This site is for people who enjoy talking about a game and other things in general. Not many would care about the timeline of this place, like I said above, and would probably focus on what is now rather than what has been. I disagree with you saying that we will see the use of this, because those things are all in the past. What exactly will be the use of this? How will others see this as useful?
I think the effort is good, but it just won't work in my opinion.
Call me conservative or whatever, but it's just what I think.
