A good question, HW, but I don't think there are many interesting answers, aside from the "ghost hero" cheat or a hero with the commander only.

Map Editor --> Tools --> Map Specifications --> Heroes
Then select Dracon and Gelu.
But Gelu will appear at Rampart, not Tower.
What questions me is how to get them in random maps.

that option doesn't solve my problem... it's checked... but extention heroes can't be picked before start...

They can't be selected from start. But it takes 30 seconds to edit your random map and put them in the garrison.

You must check the "enable campaign heroes" in the map editor

1 Ghost Hero
2 Win a battle with all your troops dead, but still have your summoning elemental creatures be alive on the victory.
3 Win a battle with all your troops dead, but still have your clone be alive on the victory
4 Seers Hut Quest about returning with creatures
5 Visit the WOG Magic Well that tells you, you've lost your creature.
6 Fire Shield kills the creature, before Efreet Sultan were going dead. (?)
7 Using ERM
8 A hero with commander, but no creatures

This doesn't work. I had it once, and my hero vanished.

Yeah, he goes back to the hero pool. I did some tests awhile ago: I disabled all heroes, fought the battle and won but with no creatures left... My hero vanished and couldn't be hired the same day (but I got the original Lord Haart in Tavern  ) - I had to wait for the next day. I guess this is no new info, but thought it might be interesting.

For the victory of the battle with summoning creatures and clones alive, I have tested it. And it doesn't work as you said. I was just guessing for that it could happen correctly, because of an another thread as I've read, where there were pic about a castle theme with Damacon on the garrison with no creatures, and then some members have said the reason for it was happen like that was like the answer number 2 or 3. But I still have at least 5 answers that could be correct.
About the Seers Hut one, I've putted 3 pics to show you how it really works :
Don't ask me about why I got +1 morale on Calid. It's just the reward (Badge of Courage).
