My reasoning was to spread around lava on the ground to keep rage down.

Besides, what kind of damage you recieve having 40 base defence?
They just get shot down with shooters and spells.
Not enough to compensate for the better looking Lava Drag IMO!

I think lavas are worth it if you can trap a large unit, especially if it has high initiative. Otherwise not much to show.
Just had a great one with Blizzardboy  I was academy and man was this a hard game. I forgot to revisit the shrines to learn blade barrier that would have made my life easier but it was worth going through the hard way.

I'm glad you forgot to visit shrine because I had much more defense than what I wanted, that could have been a disgraceful game for me. Ex. Enlightenment+Int+Ring of Sar Issus gave my hero some nice casting reserves though.

had a game with veco... it taught me to hate the mentor... i had so little money left that i could only upgrade dragons and hydras...i didn't even have enough for artifacts... never going for dungeon might build again thats for sure though.

I was wondering what kept you casting for so long. And never use mentor first mamga, I have often wasted 50k gold in real games to get one lousy ability

heres another interesting duel replay .. its a race between high initiative units and high damaging spells
the build is also posted with replay... i was going for attack but it was NEVER offered to me  even after mentor.. still no luck

Wow crazy initiative indeed - those Dragons acted twice (with Morale) 
And that first Deep Freeze could have been better cast on the Unicorns (instead of the Dragons) who were under the effect of the Elemental Gargoyles.

I loved the use of the non-traditional sylvan units . Seeing the Emerald's take their turn twice in a row was just wicked.
The Academy player could have won it, but he made some critical mistakes with his casting that drove me nuts . He got antsy and used meteor swam right from the start. You have to resist the temptation to get immediate gratification and look to the long term; if he had used MotW on the archers or the druids from the very start, he could have aimed his meteor swarms on the front line units and meteored the ranged units until they were dead as well. There was also a point in the fight where the emerald dragons and the unicorns were adjacent to the elemental gargoyles, and the wizard could have meteored the emeralds, the unicorns, the blade dancers, as well as his magnetic golems, and he didn't do it. Again, that would have been a life saving move that he missed out on. I'm positive Academy would have won if those two things were done.

Awesome game, maybe a Mark of the Damned before consuming those Corpses (since it takes only half a turn) would have helped Inferno to take down those Banshees...
