That's more like it Speaking of which I have not had wine in a while, will have to remedy the situation.

Here's a funny duel, necro vs inferno. You can see some funny situations here, torpor and banshee wail does not affect vampiric units, chain shot triggers arcane crystal(I was betting on that ), specters resurrecting from pitlord mana and of course the infamous spam-firetrap-all-over till it stops being funny. Probably what inferno should fear even more than puppet or frenzy, other than magical immunity and high resistance there is no decent counter. Spectrals were a great addition, weakness is one of inferno's worst nightmares. The plan was to abuse summoning while my units would stand their ground but I rarely felt obliged to defend, mass endurance was enough.

Elvin, Fire Traps is not that big of a threat to Inferno actually, but on Duel Map every damage spell rocks the world, as troop quantities are really low, and level of the heroes and the amount of artifacts is sky high compared to them.

Add to that the fact that your opponent played a really bad game... spamming useless Vampirism on Inferno troops against Necro, of course it turned to slaughter.

I've been watching some replays on this map, and it's safe to say that Magic factions are very advantaged, leaving Might factions(and the might way to play) with little chances to victory. You should either lower Hero max lvl and number of artifacts, or increase the number of troops to balance the map, otherwise it's always gonna be a contest between Dungeon, Academy and Necro

I just wonder why the Pit Lords did not cast any spell in their first turn? (after gating)

But Fire Traps are indeed a nightmare for Inferno.

That's not true Inferno was too much afraid of dark and wasn't enough 'might'. If the Demonlord hurled in a armor damaging Fireball or got Phantom Forces with Sorcery on Hell Chargers for cheap extra damage it could've been different. Vampirism was a waste here, altough a good try for preventing Puppet/Frenzy it was a missed shot. Vampirism on Grunts?

. Well it's as you said I did it all because I was too scared of him using dark and I really wanted them leaping. Of course in turned out to be totally useless lol. But there really wasn't much for me to do on my turn. I had dark magic and not even mark of the damned and that was it. There weren't even any corpses to consume.
But yeah my game was definetly not prime. But I've learned something^^.

Safe to say..? I can most definitely not agree, saying that haven, sylvan, orcs or fortress have little chances here is silly. With that reasoning week 5 maps with one town are unbalanced by default right? Level 21 is usually reached week 2-3, lowering that would only make army/level ratio unnatural by full game standards. Besides might factions have much better odds to find a counter, that being vampirism, magical immunity or whatever. For light spells immunity is almost guaranteed to get and can halt destructive except vs dungeon and slippers/cape/etc.

Edit: About the specific match Azagal would have been better off charging blindly or at least taking cold death to take me out faster. Yes yes destructive is imbaa

On a more serious note I would consider removing the elemental boosting arties for the sake of balance. Dungeon or academy for instance can wreak havoc if they get the boost and their opponent does not have its protection counterpart. Likewise ring of machine affinity is cool but it is obviously broken in the hands of sylvan or dwarves.

Lol I resisted 2 Frenzies in a row with only 15%
And Thunder Thanes own

Stronghold vs Necro
I skipped dark, because I thought he'll take the shatter so went all summoning. He didn't have shatter for neither of them and I got some lucky shots before his ballista made a difeerence

@Elvin: I'm not so sure about removing the Elemental Boosting artifacts... but if you do so at least remove the protection ones as well, otherwise it wouldn't be too fair, would it?

About Ring of Machine Affinity: is it really that strong? Ballista has many counters and Sylvan most of the time doesn't even need the last shot (as you could have seen in that Sylvan vs Haven replay, it needed only two shots), not to mention getting War Machines with Sylvan is pretty rare getting it with that Ring as well is even rarer. There's also the case of getting a good destructive spell, and the limited mana you have.

EDIT: watched the replays.

Why did the Orcs have Foul Wyverns and Slayers? Poison and that Frightening Aura don't even work on Undead creatures.

Reasoning was this.  I'm trying to kill them dead as fast as possible.  Slayers get a double hit.  Wyverns don't split their attack.

Elemental resistance artifacts aren't nearly as good as elemental artifacts. When you take an elemental resistance artifact, you're gambling because you don't know what destructive spells your opponent is going to be focused on, or if they're even going to use destructive at all. Chances are, it will be a waste of money. When you take an elemental artifact, you're obviously going to use it because it matches up with your spells and you're going destructive magic.

@the necro/inferno fight: I have no clue what Inferno is suppose to do against firetrap other than to appeal to ubisoft to fix the game. It's not really a unique inferno problem since firetrap is a broken spell in general. It's supposedly a level 1] spell, but it's far far more powerful than that. I know that charging wouldn't have been the solution. If you charged you would have had an impressive first few turns, and then you would have ran out of fuel and died. You can't charge against a defense faction and expect to win. What would have helped is going pit spawns instead of pit lords; pit spawns are awesome vs nercro. Also, you almost always want to go war machines against necro as inferno since you have to be ready for a long fight. Teleportation could have warped you over the land mines and it's a good ability to have as an anti-frenzy measure. It would have been a very hard fight to win either way though.

And FireTrap is a level 1 spell

That's assuming you have one of the 50% resistance ones. And either way, it's a big gamble since you have no clue what your opponent is going to do, so I still think elemental artifacts are much better. Plus they're dirt cheap to buy.

phoenix.. but remember that paokais have that corpse eater ability which is a great way to not only heal your unit.. but stop necro from raising too

as for the artifact balance... i think it is already pretty balanced..

it is all situational.. sometimes you get lucky (imbued balista with machine ring)

other times you get unlucky (same combo.. only opponent has cold death and acts before your balista )
