Guess Who is Back?

-Day 1-

“I am alive, yes. I’m sure I can kick too, if the need for it arises.”

Najash smiled as she heard and saw the halfling prepare to fight and said "Relax, I'm stuffed anyway, so there is no need to eat you." then she heard a strange sound from behind her and then heard a voice...only that the voice sounded so... dead. Najash loosened her swords as she turned around and had her hands on them in case they where needed. When she saw the undead she was shocked for the movement but soon came over it and went into a defensive position, in case the undead would attack. "You!" She exclamied "Why are you... an undead still able to walk the lands?! With magic failing and all?!" Najash didn't care to answer, she just needed to make the thing talk.

-Day 2-

For Najash the day went as normal, just that it was more chilly and there was some strange lights... She had also started to watch out for undeads, the strength of the one she had met yesterday gave her creeps, and because of that undead the damn halfling had been able to sneak away!

-Day 3-

The day was hot as hell, but as a gorgon it didn't consern her to much, and it was both good and bad for her hunt. People weren't crazy enough to go out on a hot day, but the few who were had already collapsed.

OOC: I think I'm in scaredale or something...I'm at the ruins around there.

Heather darts for the door.

"Of course I am! Anything to get rid of this boredom."

She then rushes past the wizard without looking back, but calls out, "What are you waiting for? Let's go!"

"I thought it was the most hauntingly beautiful thing I've ever seen."  Erin dreamily replied to Xerces's inquiry regarding the cosmic event.  The slightly mousey girl sat comfortably in the opposite booth.  One hand resting gently on her drink, the other around her beau.

"It was the second for me," David supplemented.  The long haired, thin man drew Erin in closer and the two entered into a passionate embrace; their lips drawing the love from the other's soul.  Yet again, poor Xerces found himself sitting awkwardly, waiting for the two to stop or go get a room.  ((OCC:  In real life, two of my closest friends are just like this.  Makes me want to wretch after awhile.))

The bar the three were sitting in, the Soul Crusher, was of average popularity in Goth World.  Students, restaurant workers, and the generally underapperciated were the primary patrons of the tavern and the business adapted accordingly.  Dark walls, green lights, and angst riddled music surrounded the dwellers, much to their quiet, yet horribly tormented, satisfaction.  The atmosphere was gloomy, the drinks strong, and the food was solid enough to nurture the most hungry of lost souls.  Yes, it was the ideal spot for Xerces to escape the sunny Hell he confronted every day.

"I'm not surprised to see it here but to see it back in Norm World... that's messed up."  Xerces took a nervous sip of the steaming tea in front of him.  A burned mouth chastized his haste with a slightly blistered tongue.  There was something unsettling about the sun turning such an unusual color.  "It's got a lot of people spooked on the other side. Some kind of ill omen; the doom of us all."

"That's good.  It'd finally end your suffering of those fools," chimed Erin after briefly surfacing for air.  David took the opportunity to gulp down some much needed oxygen.

"But, my dear, if Norm World is destroyed, our friend Xerces would most certainly go with it."

"Oh, I didn't even think of that.  You're so smart, David.  I wish I could enter that big brain of yours and sleep upon the ridges of your thoughts."  The two quickly dove back into it, leaving poor Xerces more disturbed than ever.  He'd researched dozens of ways to permamently move to Goth World with little success.  There simply wasn't a way for him to remove himself from Norm World.  For some reason, a dark force delighted knowing that Xerces would never be able to achieve true happiness.

Thankfully the appearance of the waiter dispelled Darin's ((David +Erin.  That's what I call them in real life. ))twisted embrace.  There was little unique about Sherry the waitress.  Twenty-three, an art major, black hair, pale skin, and black lips.  And like most art majors, she'd been unable to find a job after college. For all of her averageness, however, she provided her favored clients with whatever juicy gossip came her way.  "Hey guys.  Thought you might like to know that we have a special guest.  An Odd is here."

"An Odd?!" Xerces expression died just like his soul did years ago.  Odds were very rare and feared greatly in Goth World.  Malevolent beings from an unknown place, they tip-toed through the dimension herralding doom and leaving choas in their wake.  Even worse, most discovered long ago how to blend in completely with the population, making any effort by the citizens to track them down impossible.  "Are you sure?"

"C'mon, when you've been a waitress as long as I have, you have an eye for these kinds of things.  That guy over there is definetely an Odd."  Her black lips guided Xerces's attention to a quiet figure sitting at table towards the back corner.  Terrified, the poor teen found himself unable to stop staring.  The Odd's completely void face looked back.

It was on that day, that Xerces's life crossed the precipice of simply being painful and boring, to painful and horrifying.

Scarsdale - The crowd is gathered around a man.  At his feet is a spring of fresh water that was not there before.  People are grabbing buckets to fill, but it does not look like the spring will stop soon.  One of the elders asks excitedly.  "I thought magic was wild?!  How..how is this possible?!  How can we thank you enough?"

"No thanks are neccessary, magic will return soon to the lands.  Somebody has found magical stones which allow the mages to use magic normally.  They are just giving them to whoever wants one in Nervada."

"Nervada..that is a myth.  A city that appears out of nowhere, and dissapears as mysteriously as it arrives?  Children's tells." scoffs one of the elders.

"I have been there.  Currently it is 2 days ride north.  They have come to save us all."

Stargust arrives and listens to what the man has to say. A bit skeptical, he asks himself aloud:

"Why would someone just give away these stones?"

He frowned. There was something a bit fishy about all of this. However, it was a step in figuring out what was going on with the world. So, he looked back at the halfling, the half-orc and the librarian and said:

"It would seem I am heading north. However, before I go, my name is Stargust. Also, if you want to stay here in Scarsdale, you're welcome to live in my hut. It's not much, but a roof above your head is better than nothing."

Stargust starts to head towards the unforgiving desert once again. Destination: Nervada

On the way to Nervada.  As the group is finding shelter from the heat a day later another weird sun comes up.  This time it is lavender in color.  The temperature drops, and ... it starts snowing.  Odd weather..seeking shelter you stumble on a wagon.  Looks like a traders wagon, a quite dead driver..and loose odds and ends.

He then shakes his head and takes a look at the trader's wagon.

"Hmm, I wonder what happened here..."

Stargust takes a look around the wagon, trying to find anything that may be out of place (such as wagon damage and/or strange marks). Afterwards, he will examine the dead driver to see if he can figure out the cause of death.

Ruins of the city inside the Scar - More of the magical defenses activate by themselves, going haywire with the chaotic magic fluctuations.  It does not take long before one of the magical security 'traps' catches those inside the city.  As programmed to do, many centuries ago, it does not harm them, but teleport them far away.

They are uncerimoniously dumped near a wagon.  It looks like it has seen better days.  One figure is sifting through what is left of it, and one is obviously dead.

The cause of death for the driver seems to be what has killed many since the great war.  Desert Heat.  The wagon broke a wheel, and apparently they didn't wait till nightfall to try to fix it.  Happened during the day with the worst heat on record, and is not a pretty sight.

Revel - The ships dock, and hundreds of elves start to come off the ship.  They look like they have been through a war.  They are carrying many wounded.  Even the ones that are going under their own power look like they should be being carried also.

Back to the Wagon - Stargust finds something about a second before a few 'creatures' get dumped from the sky.  Looks like a parchment.

Stargust looks at the mysterious parchment and picks it up. After what seems like an eternity, he makes out three words: Blood, Stone and Sun.

He flinches momentarily as the thought rolls across his mind:

"Blood magic?"

Stargust frowns and continues with his monologue:

"I don't like the sounds of this. I hope I'm wrong. My hypothesis is too outlandish to be right..."

Stargust looks at the creatures that fall from the sky and readies his dagger just in case...

Khira had arrived in Scarsdale near the house where he was supposed to make the delivery. The strange thing was that it seemed emptier than before. And what do ya know? The person he was looking for left town for an unknown period of time. This, of course, made khira quite unsatisfied. "How in the nine hells am I supposed to know he left, huh?" He scoffed at Varo who was looking at him with intense mockery.

Khira shook his head and asked around for a bit. He learned that a scholar lived in the house and that he left for someplace north. Khira was quite satisfied when Varo picked up the trail. He pulled out his spear, which he would use as a cane, and followed Varo. At an intense pace, he should be able to catch him up in three to four days, unless his target was delayed. In that case, he'd find him or her even sooner. Why didn't he inquire about his target's identity? because he is that way...

Varo knew this and in his infinite wisdom, he led the kind soul do his mission.

Najash woke up and looked around in shock, she was no longer in her capel at the ruins in the scaresdale, also her back hurted like hell. But then she saw a figure standing not so far from her with a weapon ready. Najash reacted fully on instinct and shot up like an arrow, and lossened her swords and went into a defensive possiosion. Then she started making the clapping sound with her tail. Now as her brain took over she started studing the opponent, who to her own shock, was an elf. And from the looks of it a wizard.

"Well..." she thought "Ain't I lucky? Being hungry and now I dump into an elven wizard in this age where magic is fading? This is going ot be easy."

Najash smiled, an evil smile full of hunger and evil ideas.

Having decided to actually travel with the wizard, Heather hoped for some form of excitement on the way. It was a bit lacking at the beginning, but it picked up some as the sun’s color changed again; this time, with snow. She had never seen it before. It was quite odd to her. She stretched out her hand, catching a few of the falling flakes, and they melted away. Suddenly, chills ran down her spine. Thinking it was an enemy of some sort; she spins around, drawing a shuriken and getting her shield ready. Nothing was there. She then noticed the wizard wasn’t in the area either.

“Well, where did he go?”

Heather looks around, and notices the wizard checking out some wagon and corpse. She then sees some ‘creatures’ fall from the sky around him. Were her hopes to come true? She runs to the wizard’s location as fast as she can.

Galen had also elected to follow the wizard. He made sure to prepare some extra waterskins (using that spring mentioned earlier). Most of the trip had been spent daydreaming as he moved along. He had been trying to coax the images back from the dream he had while sleeping in the library. It took the combination of the surprisingly cold weather and the sound of bodies hitting the ground to return him to reality.

"Huh. Nice weather. I could get used to this."

He then noticed that he had wandered a few hundred feet past Stargust and the wagon. He returned to the wagon to find out if there was anything of interest.

"How do they thrive selling this muck anyway? I think I will lay low until I find out what is the purpose of the elves' arrival. Who knows there may be a profit to it."

Around the wagon.  As everybody is searching the wagon, the snow storm has really started to pick up.  Without warning the snow comes down in a solid sheet of white.  It is hard to see 2 inches in front of your face.  It is getting really cold.

Revel - A few of the healthier elves start asking around for a "Jared".  And giving descriptions.  Rumors are vague, but there is mention of some sort of treasure...

Khira - You are out in the open desert when the freak snow storm hits.  Not only does it whipe any tracks out, it comes down so hard that seeing anything but white is impossible.  Without shelter the storm would have been fatal, but you stumble and fall into a hole.  Inside it is warm, yet there is no sign of a heat source.  You find several boxes in the hole.

Khira stumbled around a bit. "It's you fault, Varo." he exclaimed and kicked one of the boxes. "You led me right into this mess." He accused him. "Don't give me that look!" Varo laid down and watched his master with a lot of curiosity. Khira stumbled around more, mumbling and quite angry. " You see the desert doesn't have snow!" He said at some point and Varo stopped paying attention, since he doubted that he would get a cookie. But those boxes looked very strange. varo tried to yank one open.

"Smartypants, are we?" khira then said and opened one of the boxes that was the closest to where he was standing.

He suddenly realized that he may very well be shouting to nobody. He couldn't see that elf mage or the halfling. Or anything else for that matter. At that point he just started rummaging around for anything that might be of use.
