Poll Question:
Luck vs Morale

Ok,here is a new thread made to discuss the luck and morale.Which one would you prefer to get in ur battle? For exapmle u attack and would u want double dmg or 1 more turn?

I go for morale since it gives you a second chance to deside whether to hit or go back.

Responses:
Luck
Morale
nobody plays heroes 3 anymore

I'll go with morale too, unless you're up against Royal Griffins.

in end fight or in clearing the map?

Two arguments in favor of morale:

1) Quite often you select a target so that one blow finishes it off. In this case luck just results in an overkill.

2) By getting morale your troops are able to attack or to block a different target. For instance, if you fight shooters in the very beginning it is essential to cross the battlefield as quick as possible. Morale comes in handy to reach the shooters in the first turn.

In fact my method for this is filling the empty slots with single low level units and direct them immediately towards the enemy. If these troops can cross the battlefield in two turns under normal circumstances, morale effectively reduces my losses against shooters.

Things may change in the end fight, when big stacks clash. I am curious what skilled players are going to say for this.

Another issue is wasting a slot of secondary skills on either morale or luck. But I think this was not the question. Nevertheless I am curious which is the preferred means to get morale/luck: skill, spell, artifact or visiting an appropriate overland location.

Both are pretty unreliable in battle, but still I prefer Moral over Luck (by far).

- Getting an extra move means, all the special abilities the creatures has do work again (be it poison, stoning, death stare, defense red, etc...). Luck only doubles base damage. So moral even turns out to result in higher damage than luck.

- Luck only works vs 1 unit, while moral can be used to hit 2 units (at least).

- Positive Moral can help to neutralize negative moral, while on the other hand there is no negative luck.

Never get moral/luck by skill or spell (Who would cast "fortune" anyway???). Mainly by artefact or visiting map objetcs.

agree...total waste of skill slot. The only way to get it is to face a choice of Moral/Luck and something even worth like Navigation (on no-water map) or Diplomacy (with no Diplo rule)...and of course there are Learning, Eagle eye, Scholar, Sorcery that are useless too.
If i have no choice...then i would prefer Leadership (angelito said enough in support of this skill)

In WOG, Learning and Eagle Eye are much better now. And Sorcery isn't that useless, it is quite good for Warlock or Elementalist etc. the magic heroes who are usually offered the "real" useless skills.

El morale all the way! Unless you play whit necropolitics

As skill choice, neither are great but leadership from those two.

for balance concern, the upper and lower bound for morale should be (+5/-5) rather than right now (+3/-3)...and the upper and lower bound for luck should be (+10/0) rather than right now (+3/0)...

Why do you think so???
This way (the way it is now), it is more experiencing to play Heroes.
And there IS negative luck

And to be onTopic : Morale, because double - turn lets you kill more creatures than double - damage.
