I think that bears can be individual units. If wolves are competent enough, then bears sure as heck are.
The Skirmishers/Harpooners just suck anyway, and fortress is about defense. Yes, shooting's a great thing to do whle sitting on the sidelines, but still, I never had a big enough stack of harpooners to make a difference. And I play fortress.
PS - Make a wolf creature named Garm please.

What is a Garm?
I agree that Spearwielders are boring and that the Runepriest is enough for Fortress.
Thats why currently maybe (if wolfs come), Wolfs will be tier 1 and Shieldguars tier 2.
But we shall see....

I think the Berserkers should stay, but should become level 3. Level Four could be a shooter, a troll perhaps (a reskinned shieldguard perhaps?)
lvl 1 could be Wolf yes, and lvl 2 Shieldguard, I can agree to that.
Rune Priest can stay as well, just like the Thane
I'm not sure about the Fire Dragon, but I would rename it at least.

I think people should vote about certain units later. Like:
Berserkers stay VS Berserkers leave (replace with Snow Apes if possible, could not you just use the Horned Demon skin?)
Thane VS Roc VS Giant
Omg Shieldguard as a Troll would look terrible -.-
Everybody seems to want to get rid of the Spearwielders so the current line-up could be:
1. Wolfs
2. Shieldguards = "United" about?
3. Berserkers or Snow Ape?
4. Bear Riders
5. Rune Priest - or move to tier 4 and swap with bears?
6. Roc VS Thane VS Giant
7. Fire Wyrm-Magma Jormungar/Crystal Jormungar?

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that there's no way of reconstructing the Snow Ape. There's just no animation set that works with its skeleton (is there even a skeleton at all?).

If the textures to that Snow Ape exist could we maybe get a screenshot of it? I mean the textures drapped over a creature. I'm just curious as to how it might have looked. But maybe it's not possible? I know so little about moddiing .

I think the model is there in the game as well, so you could see the original Snow Ape, not just the texture applied on something else... but I'm not sure.
The thing that misses is the ability to make it animated, since there are no animations/bones.

Why is it that you want Wolf as level 1 and Shieldguard as level 2? Wolf is a strong level 3 creature as it is, why not at least put it at level 2? A reasonable line-up would seem to me to be:
1 - Shieldguard
2 - Wolf
3 - Berserker (or Snow Ape)
4 - Bear(+/- rider)
5 - Runepriest
6 - Thunderbird
7 - Whatever you want to call it

you may put the thane at the tier 7 too. (but in that case, you have 2 flyers in the last levels, if the level 6 is a roc)

Basically, the point with this "project" is too make Fortress less like a "6 humanoid units and yet another dragon" town - which to some people (like me) are boring.
Many people seemed to like that Wolfs are tier 1 and Shieldguards are tier 2. We will see what the majority thinks.
And I refuse to make Thanes lvl 7 -.-
Fire Dragons are fine. They just need a different name (like Wyrms) and the Lava Dragon needs to be reskinned so that it looks like a Crystal Wyrm.
Plus I think we should change Thunderbird to Frostbird.
The Conflux town already has a Thunderbird and that mod looks great, seriously. And have like the normal upgrade "Storm Roc" or something.
(if the majority wants Rocs instead of Thanes - many doenst seem to like Giants)
