Poll Question:
What if...

...Nival decided to introduce a new undead faction similar to Warhammer's Tomb Kings in H6?

I've had this idea... and I love it!!

EDIT: Whoops, I voted for the first option, but I'd rather have both actually!

There was a great proposal made which had factions with three different alignments (Was it Snatch? I don't remember...)

Anyway, this could be one of Necropolis' "alignments"

well it seems interesting, but need to take care to make each faction unique.

I know people will not agree with me and say that one Undead faction is enough, but I'd like both. If you have enough interesting units for the new Undead faction (and pretty different from the other undead faction, to be more unique), I'd say the idea is good.

I mean, some Undead-related special things could as well extend to two factions (like Raise Dead being more powerful than 'normal')

Of course, this implies you have an interesting line-up and different than the original necropolis one.

Apart from Mummy I can't think of more interesting creatures (well, there are tons of undead variations, but I'm not sure if they would fit in the old Necropolis faction or this new one)

Some undead creatures (not sure where they would fit): Death Knight, Skeleton Cavalry (both rider and horse are skeletal), Ghoul, Mummy, Shadow, Abomination (some kind of Zombie but made from multiple creatures' parts), Bone Golem (animated by Necromancy like the Skeleton, but let's say it's huge like a Colossus), Flying Skull (let's say it's a spellcaster to replace the Lich)

Can't think of more but I'm sure there are.

Or if you "steal" some from warhammer....

Vultures, scarabs, scorpions, skeletal chariots....

Well, Warhammer has already made just about everything so it's kinda hard not to steal...

Especially if you make an undead egyptian faction.

Well, I'm sure that if a faction had every possible mutation of a single skeleton, then they'd have to split the game into about forty CDs. Truth be told, I like the Necropolis as an omnipresent force, and to split it up under different banners just wouldn't be right to me.

However, if the Necropolis, per se, had different "species" of creature, then making it into sects would be okay, since all of them still serve Deathlords. However, making them an entirely different faction, I'd have to say no.

Well, there IS enough material two make TWO Necropolises. I mean we have our traditional creatures like Skeletons, Zombies, Mummies, Ghosts Liches, Vampires, Reapers (currently called Wight/Wraith) and Dracoliches (aka Bone Dragons), but we could introduce some new Undead beings

Some Examples:

Mohrg: a Skeleton controlled by a Parasite: Could have abilites like Life Drain or Mana Drain, in addition to the H4 Skeletal Ability.

Nuckelavee: a filched Undead Knight from Celtic Mythology. Could be and upgrade of the Black Knight. Could filch or wound his enemies beyond recognition or frighten his enemies beyond belief.

Dullahan: aka the Headless Knight. Another possible upgrade of the Black Knight, but one who could have a ranged attack (called Head Toss for example)

Stele: a Stone Statue or Bas-relief that could act as a weak lvl Creature with a "Warden" Specialty. (which protects allies from enemy spells.)

Many more are possible, but i odn't have time to elaborate more.

But a Eastern Necropolis would be fantastic imo!

Nobody listens to me, lol. I'm putting my foot down.

Although I don't endorse this idea, I'm not denying the...availability of units for Necropolises, just like if someone tried hard enough, there'd be enough for five Havens or six Infernos.

PS - I don't like Dragoliches, which has nothing to do with the fact that I don't like Dragons.

I'm about a billion percent certain that I don't want 2 undead factions, but switching around the necropolis theme would be cool. If for any other reason, it would be an excuse to reintroduce the long lost mummies from Heroes 2 back into the necropolis canon.

If you did have a 2nd undead based faction, it wouldn't have to be exclusively undead. You could throw in giant scorpions and/or bronze cobras into the mix. I better stop talking because my billion percent certainty went down to a thousand percent.

Skeletal giants... Those giant scorpion things...

Actually I think they should make a HoMM-like game set entirely in the Warhammer world but that's another story...

Yeah I had this idea too, and liked it.  That's what I was aiming for with the desert-Fortress in that seven new towns project I'm trying to finish.

They're more "cursed" than undead anyway, so not necessarily the Necropolis 2.0.  A fine home for the Mummy and the Phoenix we keep ending up with

(IMO if H6 is to ever get better they need to find their own stuff and make that good. otherwise Homm will always be one of those other generic 12 dozen fantasy games...)

If you guys like Warhammer so much, why not just put Settlement in and be done with it?

Anyway, while an Egyptian town is a good idea, I don't think it should be entirely undead.

Undeads are undeads. This undead type would give a new twist and a different type of line up, so perhaps. but we will probably be angry when we see there are no bone dragons, no vampires(egyptic vampires?, lol) but we would get mummies...

It has crossed my mind in the past. I would not be opposed to seeing an oriental undead faction being more about resurrecting the dead and an H3 type of necro that would be more about might.

But then again... Warhammer is simply 100 times more original than ubi and nival they have such a huge variety of creatures. So I guess I'd be in favour of it. I can live with Heroes copying warhammer as long as it makes for a good game.
