What I mean to show by that real-life example is that he went to college for something and got a job in that something.
Well if he actually learned programming in college and wasn't going in just for the degree, then probably yes, although I doubt it as you can see @ most successful programmers, they self-teach themselves. (however that depends on the idea of successful, since I'm not talking about money for example). If you want to be REALLY successful though you'll probably have to get down on business than just "slave" work as Deadman puts it.

Okay, the results are starting to come in...

I've been accepted by my two safety schools (OU and OSU).
I've been wait-listed by Rice and Washington University in St. Louis.

Is it more safe and isolated then others?

A safety school is a university that you're pretty much guaranteed to get into.

Not really. Welfare is money collected from the populace by force. This is more like family support.
Plus, I'm going to help support them when they're older - and I'd be better at doing that if I was making more money with a college degree.

In effect you are paying them back by "supporting them when they are older."  What would you do if you didn't have parents to pay for college?  Would you still attempt to go?

??? Why cant your parents pay something for you???

My parents pay a lot of things for me. Im soon getting a new mobile phone for 420$ (which is not a lot and nothing to boost about, aslong as it works its ok) and my parents pay my World of Warcraft etc.

I have almost never paid anything myself but its fair cause its my birthday soon so the mobile phone is a present and I never require 50$ every month from my parents like every other kid.

Plus when I get money I save them and I dont eat candy, is good in school, is intelligent and creative in real life, got contract to release a book etc. I have never been good. I am perfect. So its ok.

So aslong as you are nice its ok.

Yeah. I'd just rack up several hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loans.

There's no such thing as "free". "Free" usually means "user doesn't pay". But that means somebody else does.

And who pays the taxes? The taxpayers do. So everyone ends up paying for some guy to go to college. (I'm not saying that it's bad, just that it's not free.)

Edit:
Well, I can't deny that I'm disappointed. My results:
OU - accepted
OSU - accepted
Washington University in St. Louis (I really wanted to go there) - wait-listed
Rice - wait-listed
University of Chicago (I really wanted to go there) - wait-listed
Claremont McKenna - wait-listed
Pomona - accepted
Yale - rejected
Stanford (I really wanted to go there) - rejected
Harvard (first choice!) - rejected
