New option to play online H3,H4,H5
Hello today I received an email from a guy called Scott Kevill, he is the leader behind a project that have some time online I will transcribe the email that he sends me...
Good to hear. I've created a new online gaming service for PC called GameRanger which has full lobby support for over 500 games.
In particular, it supports Heroes of Might and Magic III, IV, and V (including expansions).
What makes this especially interesting is that GameRanger solves all the router and firewall problems transparently. You should find this far simpler than Hamachi and more friendly than the Ubi service. And GameSpy? Well.. heh, that's pretty awful anyway.
The GameRanger client software is lightweight, fast, responsive, and above all, easy to use. The games are launched automatically, and players are taken directly into the game lobby. Some people are already using it to play HoMM III, and there's some early feedback for other games:

Hamachi does solve some network problems for some people, but is still a pain to manage multiple Hamachi network groups, and even then, you still have to manually go through all the multiplayer menu screens in the games. Please give it a try. You can download it at www.GameRanger.com

It seems that the software is available since 1999 for mac Users... but is recently realeased for the pc, so I guess the guy have some experience in the matter...
I have download the client and is seems very easy to use... he tried to contact vesuvius directly but I guess he is on holyday vacation or something... I though would be interesting for you guys to check the software and give it a try... is for free... hope it helps, specially for those people who have problems playing online, see ya

Tell him to email me again; problem with my 8000 spam a day is that I lose quite a few legitimate emails with my spam filters. Looks interesting.

I just downloaded it and it already looks awsome and easy to use,but it needs time for every1 to get it.

Just installed it today and already helped 1 person,he could join HEroes but he could stop receiving headers,he tried thru everythung:hamachi,direct and others all same,i told him to try this and hey,it worked,I recommend this to every1 if they have probs connecting to any game,great software.

however it comes right about when hamachi reliability is higher than ever (i get 1 disc evry 3 games and hard times entering ham 1 in 20 games)

hey all yeah ves it works well esp with h3 where gs and ham dont work on my pc gameranger works great.ty

I tried gameranger today and had a rough time. It was closing my msn and some other programs. Not a good experience.

When I typed in the gameranger room it automatically closed heroes. Kinda annoying.

Have you guys got this working?
Everytime I try to host a game Heroes 3 hangs, when I come back to Vista I notice the computer is complaining about DEP (data execution prevention). I have 2 systems here so I tried it again on my older machine and it works fine. Exact same install.
I've come to the conclusion that there are buffer overflow problems, but I can't tell if its related to Heroes or if it's related to GameRanger, I know H3 works fine when I play TCP/IP, but launching from GameRanger does not work.
anyone else experiance this?

it should work, just rename it. GameRanger will launch heroes3.exe, doesn't matter what is this file - original SOD or Era or WOG
