Hearts of iron

Ive been considering to buy the pack that has all hearts of iron games.

But Ive been wondering, does it have a turn system or something?Or and RTS style approach?

Also, is the AI a madman?(Ive had some bad experiences with civ3, so...)

May seem odd that am asking here but I can't bother registering on other forums right now ( and some HC members appear to have played it).

The time flows constantly unless you pause the game. So RTS.

Just get HoI 2oomsday, it's standalone, the best version and needs no CD to play. DON'T download it illegally since you won't be getting a manual and you'll need that I tell you. You can download the small addon pack, armageddon to that, adds some pretty boring scenarios but it does add some nice features that make playing with a democracy or a smaller country much more fun.

Too bad I'm going to the army, we play it with a friend and since his brother refused to play anymore we have been looking for a third player. And just when one pops up I'm not going to be home to play it.

AI does have some annoying cheats, like unlimited range for ships and no need for transports in case of materials but is by no means a madman unless you set it to be. Yes, you can change it's aggressiveness.

Finally, it's a great game. Sometimes even the Swedes can do something good it seems.

So if time flows constantly, and there is alot of features in it...There will be not enough time to do everything, and the AI is probably faster...Ungh

You can pause the game and do things while the game is paused.
And you can change the speed. From very slow when you will get bored to extremely fast when you will lose in a second.

And don't worry. Your main problem about the AI after you've learned to play is that it is too dumm.

Yea the AI in HOI is pretty retarded once you get the feel for the game. There are still challenging scenarios though, like playing the 1944 scenario as an Axis member.

1944 Germany depends completely on keeping france, after that it's pretty easy if you don't use up all your manpower. But 44 Japan...

...it's like trying to fight someone with a BFG-9000 when you only have a knife.

After playing RtW in civ4 (wich takes 1 week to get from 36 to 39), I doubt.

Will buy it though, been a good while since I played any decent WW2 game.

Oh man my favourite game after HoMM.
Around 70% about stuff I know about WW2 I've learned from there, especially geography.

When I saw that they found actual photos of ministers of the entire world (from USSR to Yemen, Chile and South Africa) from around WW2 I nearly fell off my chair.

You don't need a manual if you're a smart enough guy, which you seem to be. You'll figure everything out in time, like I did. Manuals tend to kill all the fun of learning on your own mistakes. But it IS complicated as hell.

If you like it, I also recommend Crusader Kings. Same developers, similar system.

I know that you're Finnish and don't like Russia, but the USSR is a significant factor in the game, don't you agree? Especially considering how it butchers your transport capacity.
At least on harder difficulty levels.

I didn't have a manual and I learned to play but noticed that some people just have to have the manual or they will give up after their first Japan game.

CCCP is the worst enemy for Germany of course but in 1944 if you lose france there's no way you're going to win. If you can keep france you can congratulate yourself and go bang your head against the red bear. Don't bang too hard or you'll lose all your manpower and don't go on the offensive on the winter.

Oh, after the newest patch the AI is a ******* RETARD! The Partisan guards are WAY too numerous. Germany that used almost all of it's troops to partisan supression is a joke. And in the same time they still didn't fix the paratroopers problem.

I downloaded the manual (had to get some insight in the game), and now I want to know, is there some kind of ingame tutorial?

And if not, will the manual atleast be accesible during the game (something like civpedia).

There are a few ingame scenario tutorials. A training campaign if you wish to call it that.

And no, when you start a real game only way to check is to go to windows and read. And the game tends to become all messed up if you do that so better study ahead.

Ah, you've never watched Yugoslavian communist partisan movies from mid-seventies
