What will I get for testing it? Beta-testing a product that will cost money is usually paid awesomely much. Why do it for free? Microsoft are just fooling you and taking advantage of you.

Debian Linux? I thought Ubuntu was considered Windows replacement, then again I'm almost 0 experience in that area.

Ubuntu is the simplest and most straightforward one.
Its however based on Debian(tada).
But imo, i liked the way the .exe file was executed and i needed a sig badly so
Besides i am running Debian at the moment. And Debian is not that much harder. I kind of liked it better since it lacked some of the annoying automatic that Ubuntu had.
Atleast i did not link to Arch and Slackware 2 of the "build and screw around as you like", also the hardcore distroes

Windows 7 is supposed to be much better than Windows Vista. It's supposed to have faster startup and shutdown time than Vista or XP. Plus the taskbar has been improved.

As for Linux, the reason I like its concept (even though I have no knowledge of it) is that you won't need to 'upgrade' your operating system to another in time. You will just have to 'update' it, like a service pack or patches etc...

Although I like the concept with C:\ drive, D:\ drive, as in DOS/Windows

If you ask me, it looks like a attempt to rip of KDE.
And the current BETA is fast, its also so stripped you would need to manually strip it yourself to achive the same speed. Going after sources Vista was faster in the BETA, but then it was a insane dump upon getting out speedwise. Win 7 is also suppose to have an improved UAC, but for some reason i have read nothing on that they are going to give the improvement to Vista while its on.

No. Ubuntu is GNOME whereas Kubuntu is KDE, which is more like the Windows environment.

The important thing is that their first priority this time is speed, as I read somewhere. They learned their lesson from Vista.

What they learned from Vista was that when you make a small flaw Linux enters and eats a part of the masses. And the fact they was losing badly on the notebook marked.

Microsoft is more than screwd if people figur out they can replace Windows with Linux.
