Gimmickless:

You are correct. I didnt check the stats in the game, I used info form 'Celestial Heavens' - thats the reason for my mistake.

Nevertheless, how can you compare 2 points boost to 5&9 points upgrade.

I never hide my pro-Tower affinity. I played Tower the most times, I won with it countless times (I did loose a few times too, maybe more than a few ) and I know it well.

I felt the wrath of 3 Behemots even Ancients on day 1 week2, and still Im not scared. You will never win against Tower (day1/week2, actually day2 I&my friends dont attack on day 1 when the opponent has no chances of buying his troops) while its defending in the Castle. Master Germlins, Mages and Turrets are more than enough.

I have to admit that my army of MGremlins/Gargoyles/SGolems was often cought in the field and my opponent had Rocks/Behemots. That was not fun at all, however if I got a decent spell in the shrine and if Im loaded with spell points I was able to kill smth. - I bet loosing rocks or behemots pains more than loosing 100 MGremlins.

Remember that on most maps (currently Im playing random XL most) you usually have enough time to counter the advantage of Strongholds 'Blitzkrieg'.

Conclusion:

I checked the stats, and still Titans are a better upgrade than AB!

Im surprised that none mentioned Gold Dragon upgrade.

They gain 9 points(!) on Defense and Attack compared to Green Dragons. They also gain 70 health and 6 speed compared to Green Dragons.

However, the Titan upgrade is the best.

Nevertheless, how can you compare 2 points boost to 5&9 points upgrade.

:::I can rationalize that easily by saying that Stronghold specializes in heroes that rack up A/D values rather quickly and their stats alone compensate the 2 points Ancient Behemoths get.  Tower Heroes have a problem with A/D stats and so *require* the raising of Titan's stats more to compensate.  But give even a Heretic a Titan...I could see your point there.

I never hide my pro-Tower affinity. I played Tower the most times, I won with it countless times (I did loose a few times too, maybe more than a few ) and I know it well.

:::Ummm...I beat the computer a lot with Stronghold.  Does that count? *LOL*

I felt the wrath of 3 Behemots even Ancients on day 1 week2, and still Im not scared. Master Germlins, Mages and Turrets are more than enough.

:::The reason you'd have only Mages and Master Gremlins in there is because that's all you can afford! *rimshot!*  It all depends on who's playing you.  I've never played you before, so I honestly can't tell you how well you play against defense.

:::That's just simple give and take there.  You get spell power, I get creature power. Might vs. magic, right?

Remember that on most maps (currently Im playing random XL most) you usually have enough time to counter the advantage of Strongholds 'Blitzkrieg'.

::on't play randoms enough, so I'll leave this point alone.

Conclusion:

I checked the stats, and still Titans are a better upgrade than AB!

:::Titans may be more versatile for other classes to use, but for barbarians like me...why bother being more than a one-dimensional fighter when one dimension is all you need?

ok lets look at the options ab are way more cheaper & u are going to need a motherload of saved up money & gems for titans ancient behemoths can reach the titans in 1 to 2 turns & titans can fire but they only take half the damage iftitans go first & i'm sure the a behemoths will reach the titans or whoever. & those titans are munched so i will go for the behemoths only in certain circumstances

best upgrades

I meant 'week1' army. The reason I have only MG/G/IG is that I start with these units. Week 1 I cant built anything but mages+castle or nagas. Stronghold on the other hand has Rocks on day2 and Behemots on day 3. Belive me on most toh maps I played I had no money problems, even upgrading Giants was not a big problem.

you guys are getting a little bit off the topic. The issue being discussed was whether the giant-titan upgrade was better than the behemoth-AB upgrade; not whether one was actually better than the other. Even though AB's may kick Titans in 1 on 1, the fact still stands, having titans instead of giants is better than having ABs instead of behemoths.

By upgrading the titans, they get double the health, a significant increase in attack and defence, and they get the ability to shoot, which is much more valuable when fighting slow tank units (eg. dendroid guards/soldiers) than being able to march into the midst of battle with slightly more firepower, as in the case of the AB.

Also, upgrading giants to titans make them much more useful in seige battles than upgrading behemoths to ABs, both in defending and attacking, and seige battles are probably the most important battles of them all because they dictate whether towns are captured or lost.

As you can see, upgrading giants is better than upgrading behemoths because they become so much more useful. Cheers.

the best upgrade is definately Pit Lords. Extra demons is the only way that I find inferno good. I would rather have extra demons then most other upgrades, because this one is much cheaper. You also get a faster unit with high attack.

Giants to Titans upgrade is probably the worst upgrade in the game. Because on randoms, you almost never have enough resources to upgrade them, and when you finally do, itīs already to late..

AB upgrade is not only possible, but allows you to totally smack out dragon utopias.. each AB actually does a max of 100 damage to a black dragon without a hero. That can win a game.

And yes, I know that on toh maps you get fed with a silver spoon and have huge diapers, but thatīs for whimps. Itīs basically like cheating with a resource code. foos.

Yes upgrading those titans are tough to upgrade but once you do you have to worry about upgrading your giants if you bought any & buying 5000 gold & 2 gems for one Titan.
Once you can afford them that can really benefit thy tower but with thy right spells I will pick Ancients depending on stats too.

As you can see tosser_boy doesnt know what hes speaking of, ancients upgrade is even more important that titans coz its easier and earlier to get ya bunch of tossers

that might be true, but it's not the goddam point.
the fact of the matter is, giants are a lot crapper than titans when compared to behemoths and AB's. does it matter when you get them or how much it costs? we are talking strictly on creature statistics and abilities.

behemoths can beat giants ten on ten but titans can beat AB's ten on ten. doesn't that say something?

I don't believe that Slava made any mention of NOT factoring cost in this debate goof_boy.

Therefore, factoring cost is equally as important as statistics and abilities.

But, I'll still argue with you that the Ancient Behemoth is the best upgrade on the merits of statistics and abilities alone.

So what if the AB only gets 2 extra points of attack and defense and the Titan gains 5 attack and 9 defense?  So what if the Titan gets 4 more points of speed and the AB only gets 3?  The Titan still ain't gonna be going first in a real battle.  Since AB almost doubles its hit points and the Titan doubles those factors cancel out.

Let's take a look at the special abilities.  AB gets an upgrade from 40% reduction of enemy's defenses to 80%.  What does the Titan get?  A ranged shot?  Whoo whoo!!

I'll take an AB over a Titan anyday for better upgrade...and I haven't even talked about cost yet.

Worst upgrade in the game may be the Imp-Familiar upgrade. Only thing that matters is the increased speed of Familiars, so that you can make some extra Demons more easily.

Talking about Tiant and Ancient Behemoth upgrade, well they are both excellent. And so what if the Titan Dwelling is hard to get? So is the Black & Gold Dragon Dwellings (Black Dragon Dwelling is by far the hardest to get, Gold Dragon Dwelling is only lightly easier to get at best), Arch Angel Dwelling (not too much requirements but most expensive of them all), Arch Devil Dwelling (costs 35 000 gold in total which is second only to Portal of Glory). If you can't get your Titans upgraded, you won't get most of those either. Main problem with Titans is gems.

No, in real games the Behemoth upgrade is very strong, while the Giant upgrade is very often not built at all. Simple reason: Price for mage guild level 5 + library is (among a few other things) 33 of each precious resource, including gems. Maybe Iīm wrong, but I donīt think that thereīs any good player who would upgrade to Titans before his mage guild is complete. That makes it an amount of 58 gems to collect, and I did not even mention the ones you need to feed your Giants/Titans with, and the ones you need for the basic Mage, Genie, Naga and Giant dwelling and for the Naga upgrade.
Also, the Giant is NOT such a bad unupgraded creature at all, costing 2000 gold and dealing an average damage of 50.
Not to mention that you need to pay 25000 gold to build the upgrade, and further 3000 gold for each Titan.

Still, best upgrade is neither of those two, but clearly the Vampire Lord. Second, third and fourth ... tough choice, but Iīd go for Harpy Hag, Grand Elf and Sprite. By the way, I wonder why good players mentioned the Arch Devil here, that seems to me one of the weaker upgrades in the game. Only 40 hitpoints gain - yes he is faster and has more AT/DE, but if you consider the huge price for upgrade and recruitment, Iīd always go for Infernoīs strong mage guild first.

I dunno aculias.. I mean, if you think of the application of the abilities i'd say Vampires are way way better. I mean, vampires can keep themselves alive while dealing good damage to their foes, while sultans sure do kick in the teeth of whoever is touching them, but that doesn't stop you from losing yoru sultans regardless of your opponents loss.
