An update on Summoning Magic school, based on some recent experience... I still think it is a little weak, but it can prove a winner sometimes in some combos. There is no secret for anyone that summoning works best with Academy, and somewhat Necro/Dungeon. So here are some of the powerful ones, that can change the game:

Phoenix + Vampirism

This one can prove impossible to take down without powerful destructive, or special abilities! If you are facing a Dark Caster or Light Caster w/o Cleansing, after you put this one up, just keep your troops living until the Phoenix finishes the opposing army !
A Summoning Caster would have troubles against this one also, unless he has a very powerful Arcane Crystal or Fire Traps, and most of the times these spells will be hard to use.

Adding some curses to the mix will be highly recommended . Arcane Armor can help also, but it may be overkill .

Phoenix + Regeneration

Same as above, except that you will have to recast it once in a while, but the good news is that you will heal 100% regardless of what you are attacking!

Extra counters unfortunately in Puppet/Frenzy/Blind.

Arcane Armor + Vampirism ( + Vampires + Lucretia)

Coupled with some Mass Spells like Endurance, Suffering, and sometimes corner positioning against melee attackers is another invincibility potion.

Counters are: Cleansing, Undead/Elemental opponent , and somewhat Destructive Magic or huge attack stats + Righteous Might. Another counter is turning a more powerful stack(eventually all stacks) into undead(Ex : Vampirism on Paladins) and focus archers where they are needed.

Motw + Blade Barrier + Raise Dead/Ressurection/Regeneration/Vampirism

This one works only with a powerful stacks of shooters, most commonly Titans, take advantage of terrain if any and cover path towards them with fast troops(most commonly genies), and then in one cast you'll be able to surround them with Blades. For it to work, you require shooter superiority of course, but after the blades have surrounded them they can damage the opponent with no fear. After that you can refresh the Blades/ bless army, curse opponent, ressurect... whatever you choose, you'll be very hard to take down. Also , the Blades deal really nice damage by themselves, and might be a turn-off for attackers which could ignore them long enough to give you the time to kill them.

Vampirism + Raise Dead

Vampirism doesn't work with ressurect, but it does with Raise Dead and you actually get your troops back at the end of the combat even if they aren't skeltronical ! Also with lower Hp, you will get more creatures from your leaching back !!!

These are the most reliable and powerful I know... Phantom Forces, Arcane crystal, Fire Traps can be nicely mixed also with Motw, but they must be planned very carefully otherwise you might not get the desired results.

Phoenix + Vampirism once helped me fight back against a barbarian that had fear my roar. It feels good when your phoenix is immune to such effects though I eventually lost that game

Phoenix + Regeneration I faced recently in the duels. I had light/summoning with academy and amusingly enough my opponent had the same with dwarves. He summoned a phoenix first and my first thought was motw + crystal, even if I could not get to trigger both crystals with my soon-to-act battlemages the phoenix would have half hp. It's annoying how you can never guess where the second crystal will appear when you use motw. But when regeneration was cast on the phoenix I instead cast hive and started amassing them In the end the phoenix couldn't keep up even with haste.

That also reminds me, a necro phoenix with power of speed is excellent. Easy to also fit dark in there.

Motw + Blade Barrier I also liked to use vs fortress. It's a pain to reach the titans plus once that's done you can use arcane armour/regeneration on the titans/kshatras and they'll never fall. Unfortunately stormstrike still triggers a chain reaction with the barriers and with regeneration on the thanes they won't have to get hurt much.

Vampirism + Raise Dead on vamps rules Good bloodsucking action.

Summoning magic comparing with other schools of magic is the same as comparing basketball with chess.

While others relies on just pure and reliable damage or pure and reliable stats increas or decrease, sumoning relies on giving choice for your oponent: deal with unexpected obstacle and loose turn + first strike opurtunity or ignore it and get disadvantage which is beeing created by obstacle (you will never know what oponents choice will be). Best thing of summoning is that most likely oponent still will looze posibility to shoot/charge on first turn and moreover will have to remove obstacle or use his other precious stack turn to disable obstacle. So skilled summoner always should create such obstacle which would sound as famous phrase from "Goodfather": he gave him an offer which he wasnt able to refuse. It empovers summoner to take control of his oponents actions and initiative of combat

Some summoning spells are meaned to ONLY for rushing batles and becoming obsolete later (fist of wrath).

But the main reason of why people keep it worse then others is its specialization: it can win final battle for you if you will take it while having particular idea what hero, what faction and in what way you will use; also who will you encounter.

Its impossible to replace when it comes to "wins the one who hits first" strategy. It can ruin other oponens plans in such way for which he hardly can have an encounter becose summoning school is most versatile and hardest to predict.

And for dungeon its awsome jus becose of phantom forces. remember that dungeon has VERY speedy units what means clones will go just after you cast it, so its 100 perc guaranted damage with cloned stack, now take luck with sorcery and soon you will double your damage output - but wait its that what you are good at - doing damage with dungeon.

Sumoning particulary good for academy becose of its shooting offence. It helps to keep oponent bussy with crystals/bariers/clones/summons meanwhile you shooters are whiping foes efectively.

Incorrect. There are many cases where it would be a plain losing choice, take summoning warlock vs haven. Sure, anything is possible but you will be too hard pressed to keep up with the constant mass buffing. Even with exp sorcery you do not cast fast enough since dungeon will be dead within 2 turns.

Oh I do use summoning vs dwarves, usually coupled with power of speed My favourites are firetrap, hive, crystal, phoenix though obviously phantom, barrier and armor are great to have.

It is not possible to double summon, at most it can work with effects like firetrap, crystal and blade barrier. Summoned units are another case.

tell us specifically what can't you double cast to tell you! for example:


1) you can't double phoenix
2) you can't double elementals
3) you can't double phantom if one of the creatures' levels is too high
4) you can't double earthquake

You are wrong about phantom, you can clone everything that is not immune to magic. You can clone titans and rakshasas simultaneously but not create 2 phantoms of the same unit.

i am pretty sure you can't.
i had motw on rajas. i cast phantom on elementals. only elementals got doubled. can you explain that?

I know that we can't double summon phoenix,elemental,... but I also can't double arcane crystal,hive,and blade barrier . I can only double phantom force and fire trap.
P.S I can't phantom force summon elemental and summon phoenix ? But I'm sure that phantom force can be doubled .

Then 100% sure mark was on rajas? Or that they did not have magical immunity cast on them? Unless it was some random bug in the game. If you go to duel mode or my map and try to clone titans and rakshasas simultaneously it will work, I've done it before.
